I'm in a standard scoring 10 team work league. Two weeks ago I played a team who had Rogers on his bye week. Mid week, this team traded Larry Fitzgerald for Micheal Vick. The following week, after the games, the two teams traded back. There was some talk about it at work and it came back to the guy who made the trade. He was upset that we were "talking about him", and accused us of calling him a cheater. I always stated that what these teams did was not against the rules, but just something that I don't agree with. The other team involved in the trade was his son, and he is the commissioner of the league. Just wondering what people thoughts are on the "trade back" strategy...

Full-on collusion, may not be against the rules in your league but it's cheating, full stop. And by the commish no less.. sounds like it's time to find a new league..

It is against the rules in most leagues. If your league doesn't have rules against it, it is a legal move. Being able to share players is not fair in the minds of 99 percent of people, but unless there was a rule in place, tough luck. I would not want to play in a league where they rolled like that, but I would chalk it up to a learning experience and not start WWIII over it. Add rules next year or change leagues.

We have a rule in our league that once a player is traded, he can't be traded back to the original trading team for 4 weeks to prevent just this sort of thing. We haven't had this situation in awhile, but in the very beginning of the league (about 20 years ago) we had a husband and wife who both had teams in the league. We didn't allow direct trades between the two of them for obvious reasons.

So, I'd say the situation you describe stinks for two reasons.

cuz he is one

Regardless if there is money involved or not. This trade-back stuff stacks the deck for teams and is unfair to the rest of the league. I'd quit immediately if this sh.. happened in my league, just out of principle. There's no sport in winning or losing in this kind of league. If there was money involved, at least pester the commish for a refund and ask others to do so as well. Then he can play in a 2 team league, just him and his son.

we have basically the same rule. that prevents the "renting" of players.

Horrible... and even if it was not illegal in your league, they should be called on the carpet at the very least. No way I remain in that league.

Our league has a rule where you can't trade back for a player you previously traded away during the same season. Our basic premise when trying to determine the validity of such rules before we pass them is: 'could/would it happen in the actual NFL?'. No way this happens in the NFL.

Find out who he is playing next week, trade that team one or two of your best players. Trade back the week after that team plays him. They should get the hint.
