2.5 Point favorites over Florida this weekend. Downside. 3 months ago I agreed to Cater BBQ for a wedding reception for a good buddy this saturday at 5pm CT.
You're an alum, right? What are my best options for getting a couple of not-too-expensive tickets for this weekend? I work for UT but my discount doesn't stretch all that far....

If you get ANY discount (or can even buy at face) I'd do it. Ehhh I always buy off the street. If you do it right (persistent) you can find some at a bit below the "going rate". For UT/FL tickets usually were $100+ but I could always find someone willing to sell a pair for $150 or something. 'I'd walk the strip a bit earlier in the day trying to find individual sellers (rather than scalpers who's prices are HIGH early on). If I had time to get down to they moneywall area by the UC about an hour before gametime there were sometimes good deals to be had there. Otherwise hitting up the scalpers on the strip for post-kickoff bargains is a good deal. Hell it might not hurt to have a business card and hand it to each scalper saying you'll be willing to buy overstock for a deal after kickoff, then walk to a bar and start drinking. DO NOT buy student tickets. They require a student ID at the gate to get in. Used to not be an issue but now they scan everyone for a valid ID and check the photos. Doesn't stop unscrupulous students from trying to scam some out of towner though. Not that *I* ever did that...

yeah... a resurgent vols franchise.... and it being one of the big games of the year (FL/BAMA) and you're looking at big money. Looks like they're $130-250 for decent seats. Not too terrible.

Alternate plan: I can actually see the Jumbotron from my office window. And I work in the only building on campus where alcohol is allowed. :excited:

Nothing really compares to being in Neyland for a football game though. It is great even when you're a visiting fan getting your ### kicked.

Still sticking to my projection: Tennessee will be the team to beat in the SEC East. Georgia and Florida both look slow this year. USC will be the competition for Tennessee...get past them and you're in. Tennessee looks explosive. Going to be one hell of a game on the 3rd Sat in October.

I'm not blind enough to pick against Alabama, but this team scores very fast. If (big if) the vols can jump out early they have a chance.

Gameday will be in Knoxville. Thought they'd go Michigan State-Notre Dame.
Aren't they just going to whatever game Herbstreet is doing each week?
Couldn't tell you. ND-MSU is the national primetime game on ABC, are he and Musberger calling UF-UT over that?
Hmm, wondering if he's just hopping a plane then, guess he has time. Just thought I read somewhere this offseason gameday and the feature game were going to be linked up.

Was just offered two free tickets lower level on the 35 for the game this weekend and I can't go.

Sonofa#####.

Let's make this clear now, there is a better chance of Tennessee falling off into the ocean than there is of UT beating Alabama in 2012.

The Tennessee program is dead....
Yup. So much excitement this year and the sane thing happens.
With a new coach along with the new facilities, they will be back.
Hope so. The big thing I worry about is that too many years of mediocrity make it easy for people to forget you once were really good. Today's high school seniors were in kindergarten when ut won its last title and were still in elementary school the last time we went to the sec title game.

Doubtful. They had the 6th highest grossing athletic program last year and lost money because of paying Hamilton and perl. I can't see them adding a third dead weight contract to the mix.

I read somewhere the AD was under pressure to be more profitable...but surely they won't sacrifice the football program to do it?

If Dooley wins 7 he probably saves his job, regardless of this loss.
