Tennis - Sinner accepts three month ban - won't miss Roland Garros (7 Viewers)

Dentist if Fed win this, free root canals for the rest of the month?
I don't expect him to win. As well as he is playing I still think he finds a way to lose pretty soon... probably to Stan, or Nole.

I mean the guy always looks great in the 3 set matches, looks great against anyone outside the top 5... then stumbles at some point... they say the consistency is the first thing to go and that's definitely something I've noticed with Fed.... At some point he will come out flat and won't be able to recover. He hasn't won a USO in 7 years, or been to a final in 6 years.

He's had 3 unreal opportunities to pick up majors at Wim 14 and 15, and even USO 14 was so ripe.. no djoker... just had to beat Cilic and NIshikori.. and fail.

But if he wins It would be so much icing on the cake.
So, free root canals then?

DEAL!

Thoughts on Cilic? At +$2500, I like those odds. His play hasn't been stellar, but if he can put his serve together for two matches at Arthur Ashe, it is really difficult to break the guy.

It cannot be 25:1. I see it at +550 to +600. If you are seeing those insane odds for a semi-final match, load it up and hedge on Joker on another site and take the free money.

Serena might win 50 majors unless someone with some heart steps into the #2 spot. Her gap over the field is so immense right now she could get old, lose quite bit off her fastball and still be the best player on the women's side.

Either Serena is just that much better than everyone... or women's tennis is just incredibly incredibly lame.. because no one really even seems to pose a threat. When she loses it seems like it's because she is off, not because she got beat.

Maybe this is how women's tennis always has been... sure are a lot of women with big major totals compared to the men's game.

I don't have the link handy, but Nate Silver's crew at 538 wrote a fifty-million word piece on that question a couple weeks ago Dentist.

Basically by their estimate Serena's earlier peak is right in line with the other elite players -- Navratilova, Hingis, Seles, Graff, etc -- and now she's come close to hitting that same level again in her 30s. But the rest of the field is just really weak by historical standards.

I didn't make it through the whole things, so I don't know if they projected her ultimate number of majors or not -- but she's definitely benefiting from the lack of current competition.

So weird watching the inconsistency of these gals... Halep today just got destroyed.. #2 in the world.. to a #26.. What?

There are accomplished gals in the field.. Kvitkova has won 2 wimbledons... Sharapova has a career slam.... but when they face Serena? Forget it.

whoa another break

freaking hilarious - unseeded doubles specialist who has never been past the 4th round of a GS has Serena on the ropes

Oh, sorry - quarterfinalist at the 2012 US Open. Never a semifinalist at any GS before today.

Injury timeout, time to retape the ankle again?

Still can't believe Vinci won 5 out of 6 third set games when she can only land her first serve about 1/3rd of the time

Watched the last four games, seemed like a matchup nightmare. Crafty shotmaking that made Serena move around a lot and make her own mistakes.

one of the biggest upsets of all time

prior to today Vinci's highest ranked opponent in this GS was #40

WOW
that's going to go from one of the more anticipated finals with high ticket prices and high tv ratings to absolutely no one giving a crap.

if you had a ticket with the intend to flip it for profit... you just got SERVED

She was hilarious in the interview
Highly, highly entertaining.
What did she do?
Just to be clear, I was talking about Vinci's on court interview with that nitwit Rinaldi.

He said something about her being 300-1 to win the match, her eyes got real big, then she started yelling to her coach in Italian.

He also asked her if, when she woke up this morning, she thought she could win. She looked at him like he was an idiot and said "no!".
