False. Apparently there was a market and it was squandered by a front office that leaks every detail of their personal affairs like it is Guiding Light. You lost value by setting a deadline and teams knew he would be cut. I also think you guys underestimate the worth of an athlete because he was not a good QB. I understand why the Raiders and Pryor had to part but the chances of Pryor having an impact are much greater that the lowest of low 7th round picks. And like someone else stated if they would have let him play out his contract the compensatory pick may have been the same or higher value.

In fact his QB career is hanging on life support. His only real value is to convince him to concede to a position switch. He wasn't going to do that for the Raiders, but perhaps he will for a contender like Seattle. Raiders didn't let the cat of the bag here. Pryor was vocal about wanting out, and the voluntary workouts for the Raiders begin today. Something had to give. It wasn't some sort of "Guiding Light" secret. Reggie has been shopping Pryor for months. This has been out in the open for some time now. You seem to imply the Raiders are a bunch of rubes who can't keep a secret. And as far as I know, T Jax has some guaranteed money in his contract so he likely isn 't going anywhere and will likely remain SEA's QB2 unless Pryor really steps up his game.

Pretty effing sad when a team as devoid of young talent as the Raiders loses the three young players that arguably flashed the most talent and potential on the entire roster (Pryor, Veldheer, Houston). It's beyond sad, actually. It's downright infuriating.

Fair enough. If they think he's their #2 and not just a project it's kind of a risk I suppose. But if you lose your starter you aren't winning the SB anyway most likely.

Savage is a different tale because his skill set is so much different than Pryor's. He's closest to Weeden, so whether that's worse or not I don't know, but I do know it's a failure.

This is correct.

The Raiders cannot try to build a team around such a big question mark. The Seahawks have a great QB and can roll the dice. It is really a great example of where both teams are right now. The Raiders are at the bottom and have to make sensible moves in order to get to the playoffs. The Seahawks are at the top and have to reload or come at teams with a few new wrinkles. Pryor could be a wrinkle. He is not a QB.

In general, I think it is not a good investment to tie up an above average salary for a backup QB, unless your QB1 is a fringe starter. Looking across the board at all teams, it seems the sweet spot would be $500k - $800k for the backup QB. And if you have a guy that costs more, chances are he's no better or worse than the cheaper group. Look at Kyle Orton. He's one of the highest paid backups in the league and it did Dallas no good last year when they needed him most. I think Matt Moore is the highest paid backup QB in the league at $4M per year. No thanks.

Kap definitely has a tendency to have a huge amount of rush yards against the Hawk def. Pryor could run the scout team in order for Sea to better prepare. In addition, if Kap goes down they are still stuck with Gabbert. It's a solid theory.
