Terror Attack in Quebec (1 Viewer)

Awful. Strange timing as well with the big show Trudeau made yesterday about taking in refugees that were denied entry to  the US

Who knows but with that and the immigration confusion here this weekend, it seems like someone was trying to send a message to NA.

You literally need to be banned on the site. You are the cause of so much drama.  People are dead can you stop trying to stoke the fires.
Dude, I was responding to the rather odd comment by TLEF316 that seemed to draw a connection:

Doubtful. I think he just means there is likely some right wing cell up in Quebec and he is wondering if the comments by Trudeau inspired this attack.
#######s everywhere are empowered by the strength of Trump's hate. You don't have to hide that you're a hateful ####### anymore :(

Sad beyond comprehension.  Scary as hell.

We need to get over this together somehow, people.  Just feel it's going to get a bunch worse before things get better.

Basically this. Its a pretty big coincidence that this violent act (presumably against Muslims) happened the day after Trudeau makes a whole show about taking in refugees that the US turned away. Not saying Trump is right to do so, but it kinda seemed like Canada was really rubbing our faces in it.  Like it or not, the US isn't the only country whose citizens (obviously not all or even most, but some) are fearful of these people. (right or wrong)

Yes, because it seemed to suggest that, or at least that was my interpretation of a rather ambiguous statement. Better to respond than to let the suggestion stand as being undisputed.
Oh because we can't risk any ambiguity on a fantasy football website eh??

Just stop...this isn't the time to score politicial points

If my post above wasn't clear...NO I don't think Muslim refugees were responsible for the shooting at the Muslin place of worship.  My guess is that people who don't like Muslims very much are. I think there's at least a decent chance that Trudeau going out of his way and making a whole big show about taking in people that the US turned away MIGHT have inspired these shooters to take action.

Who was trying to score political points? I wanted him to clarify what he was talking about, which was why I asked him to explain what he meant (which he did).

Feels like I've become numb to things like this...What a sad state.

T&p to the victims and their families.

Thank you for the explanation. I misinterpreted your point of view from the original statement.

Any more news on this?

Suspects apprehended or at large?

CNN is Anthony Bourdain, Fox is trumpeting Trump's successes. Neither seen to care about Canada

2 white supremacists apparently captured.

edit - this came from a fake account. :(

I fear this incident will be perceived within the Muslim world as in conjunction with Trump's ban. The message that radical Islamists will spread is, "You see how the west hates us? Look at Trump! Look what happened in Canada!" And they will convince many youth to join their cause.

https://www.rt.com/news/375554-quebec-city-mosque-shooting/

A witness told Radio Canada that one of the attackers shouted “Allahu akbar” as he opened fire.

“One started shooting. As soon as he opened fire he shouted, "Allahu akbar!" ("God is great!") The bullets reached people who were praying. People who prayed lost their lives. As for myself, the bullet passed over my head," the witness who refused to be identified said, adding the attackers “seemed to have a very good Québec accent.”

Two suspects have been arrested in the ongoing police operation, according to a Quebec police spokesman. An investigation into the attack has been launched.

It was on Twitter. Could be fake news?
To be fair twitter is currently full of people saying it's white supremacists and people saying it's Muslims.

Twitter itself isn't news of any kind.  I just wanted to be sure and clear up that there isn't any reliable info on who the shooters were just yet.

That report came from a fake Reuters account on twitter.

2 suspects have been arrested, not much official word other than that so far. https://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2017/01/29/witnesses-report-shooting-at-mosque-in-quebec-city.html

One man who was at the mosque told Radio-Canada that there were two attackers wearing ski masks who burst into the building and opened fire.

The man, who didn’t want to be identified by name, said they had strong Québécois accents, but added that he believed he heard them shouting “Allahu Akbar.” His testimony could not be independently confirmed.

The man said he narrowly escaped when a bullet whizzed over his head. He said the gunmen took aim at those who were still praying.
One was reportedly arrested at the scene of the attack while another fled. Doyon, the police spokesman, said both men had been arrested and would be facing charges of murder.

But police would not provide any information about the individuals who were arrested “for strategic and operational reasons, Doyon said.

“The investigation has not ended,” he said. “We will be trying to verify if there is a third or fourth or any other person involved. We’re not ruling out that there may be other suspects.”
