Terrorism and the NBCR threat - time to take it seriously (1 Viewer)

Has anyone actually advocated for leaving the border wide open?

Along with the tremendous trolling you all have done in here, is your only other tactic to argue against things nobody has actually argued for?
:lmao:  Nice alliteration sho!  No trolling here.  Just a discussion of national security, along with an occasional bit of necessary fly swatting.

You want to hear something crazy about terrorism, no shtick...

I live in a neighborhood that has become the most trendy place in the world, personally I hate it and it wasn't like this before I moved here, but this is what it has become. Almost every store on my block is some fancy boutique overpriced clothes or baby stuff, espresso shop, overpriced restaurant, etc. except one old school Irish Pub - They own the building where the storefront is located and the owner just doesn't want to sell, must like owning a bar in the neighborhood for 40 years or something. Anyways, I sit down for a drink in there once in a while, I'm far from one of the regulars, but I'll engage in conversation when there. I know just about every store within a two block radius of my house, what it was before and the basic history of each storefront for the last 12 years. The other night I stopped in, I was already drunk before I got there and there were only 3 or 4 regulars (plus one decent chick, who happened to recently move into the building next to mine, we exchanged pleasantries too) there. Anyways, we get into a conversation about how the neighborhood has changed and what everything was and has been. I point at the building across the street and say that's been there since I've been here, what was there previously?

Bartender (worked there for 20 years) tells me it used to be a barber shop owned by Arabs. He said there would be people coming and going at 2am, which everyone found odd. He then proceeds to tell us that FBI agents used to hang out in the bar, watch the shop, photograph it, and be around all the time. Eventually they raided the barber shop and some of the guys taken away haven't been heard from since. Turns out this place is where the original World Trade Center bombing in 1993 was planned, pretty crazy ####... Less than a block from where I live.

Right, let's leave that Southern border wide open.  Disregard that intell suggesting that ISIS has designs on smuggling in nuclear material through Mexico and the Southern border.  Heck, maybe the terrorists will focus instead on smuggling nuclear material on airplanes, or at one of our ports where there are detectors.  Good thinking counsel.

Do you lock your doors at night?  You do realize that criminals can still get in if they really wanted to, right?
Perhaps you missed the sarcasm.  Or that I support a guy who tried to get 40,000 more border patrol agents

so lets leave the borders wide open and make it as easy as possible
I've never crossed the Mexican border before...but I've seen all sorts of chicanery used by drug dealers to get drugs across the border. I suppose they resort to these methods because it's not all that easy to get drugs across the border.

While I suppose it's certainly possible to smuggle a nuke across the border, I wouldn't say it's "as easy as possible".

This reminds me of that thread where it was rumored Calvin Johnson was going to retire. Everyone joked. Everyone laughed. Everyone told the guy he was crazy.

And then Calvin retired :oldunsure:

That mosque on Atlantic Ave was a terrorist hot spot.
Assume you're referring to Al Farrooq...

There is still some sketchy #### around here. Atlantic Ave from Henry St to 4th Ave right next to the Barclays has a lot of shady dealings. These dudes don't look like the American Arabs I'm friends with... I see some guys that just rub me the wrong way from time to time, counter terrorism officers, and some FBI looking guys more than I'd like to.

I'm sure some people on this site would say I sound like a bigot, but you walk up and down these blocks for a decade and your suspicions would be raised too, I don't let it hinder my life, but in aware of some negativity that could be in the neighborhood. If you think there are terrorists in America, it's a safe bet some of them are on this stretch of Atlantic Ave, it is what it is... Luckily there is a huge law enforcement presence here too.

People like GM are funny and they're the biggest hypocrites on Earth, no offense GM. I'll elaborate - Another interesting part of my neighborhood is the demographics here. Outside of a few tech heavy neighborhoods in Northern California, you won't find an affluent place like this loaded with crazy liberals, I mean 7-8 figure annual incomes with Obama "Hope" stickers on their $5M brownstone windows, walking around with their Bernie or Hillary shirts (why do you think they each set up shop here for their campaigns?)... Anyways, PS 58 is a public school surrounded by $3-$5M brownstones and condos, there was a small property 1 block away where they were going to open up a mosque, some influential parents in the neighborhood stopped it from happening. This wasn't like some super mosque they were gonna open across by ground zero that got shut down, just some ####ty little podunk mosque. Do something to these powerful rich liberals that infringes on their kids and you see true colors.

FTR, I'm not some crazy right winger, just an independent that observes all around me. I'm not for shutting our borders and I'm kinda undecided about accepting refugees - I lean no on that, but I'm open to hear arguments and could be swayed with the right information, not now though, I'm heading to down to aforementioned ####ty little Irish Pub for a quick night cap.

He's gotta stick up for his idol. Creepy stuff.

GM, rereading my comments and even more tipsier now, those were harsh and I apologize - I'm lumping you in with some people I'd consider "like-minded" and that's not correct. I think some of these people have their ideologies that they preach, but when things get a little to close to home, they don't practice them. I don't know you from another random internet stranger, so who knows what you would do IRL, so again, apologies.

& Bluto SWC Brotarski, the non punctuation gibberish bank shtick is old and tiresome, get something new... Take to that to the animal house.

http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/656947/Islamic-State-ISIS-daesh-brink-nuclear-weapons-chilling-report-bomb-West

New article came out today that ISIS is on the verge of nuclear weapons.  I do some work in the terrorism field and I've been hearing alarms going off for about a year now on this.  It's one of the reasons I think it's absolutely necessary that we secure our borders.  This reminds me of the unheeded warnings that went out in the late 90's about al Quaeda.  Time to wake up America.  This is the biggest threat facing the US right now, and it very much is an existential one.
What exact do you mean?

No worries. My bark is hard.  It gets its nourishment from message board validation.

Maybe the time to worry was before we destabilized the Middle East with an unnecessary war that cost us trillions, 1000s of American lives and created ISIS. You know like us hippy peaceniks were trying to tell you.

And Trump.  :D

The dirty bomb scenario is off the charts frightening.  Heard today projections that a softball size of cesium in Manhattan could turn the entire financial district to a ghost town for months or years, with financial loss estimates of up to $1 trillion - blowing 9/11 away.  Scary stuff.

Still scare pieces, especially the idea of trying to get any of that into the U.S.  Almost a zero chance of that happening.

I did spend a lot of time in Moldova over the years, I can believe that the material to make such a bomb would be sought there.  Mostly because the right-wing Russian minority there has created a culture of gangsters and black markets.  Since the ex Soviet Republics are mixed cultures the underground stretches from Eastern Europe to the far east.

good gracious, a man in California wondering.  I was a resident and left a long time ago.  Beautiful state that will need to be bailed out by you & me.  Take that to the bank yo Brohan.

thanks to SWC.
