CHARLOTTE -- The Carolina Panthers quarterback situation was thrown back into flux on Friday as quarterback Vinny Testaverde sat out practice with soreness in his right Achilles tendon.
The Panthers are hoping that with some rest Testaverde will be able to start Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons. If not, then the Panthers will turn to rookie Matt Moore to make his first NFL start.
David Carr has been ruled out for Sunday’s game with a concussion, according to coach John Fox.
"I wouldn't say Vinny had a setback, but it was a little sore and we elected to rest him," coach John Fox said of Testaverde.
Testaverde is listed as questionable on the injury report, and if he doesn't play then rookie Matt Moore will make his first NFL start against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.
