Okay, this year I got into a couple of high stakes FF leagues (talking big dollars), and I really need some kind of edge. I'm not always near a computer at work, and I travel. I'm looking for a service that provides breaking FF news via a text message.

Does anyone offer this?

Footballguys.com has an email update service with breaking news and so does KFFL. Both are free. You should get a world phone that does email, as they don't do text messages per se.

joe sends me daily updates to my iPhone. Yahoo has 'push' email for iPhone. Once email hits my yahoo account it is automatically sent to the phone.

Yeah, I'd say the best way would be to set up a filter for the subject "breaking news" and forward those to your text email address.

hey look at me I have an Iphone

Hey idiot....he wasn't bragging just trying to give some info. That is what we try and do here at FBG. Grow up! Did I get a little jealousy vibe from your post? Stupid.

I have a 2-year-old pretty standard cell phone (LGVX8100) that can receive email messages through Verizon's text messaging functionality. The messages I receive are text only and I only get the first 165 characters of longer messages, which on most alerts I get from FBG would be enough to get the gist of the news. If you have Verizon and a text-capable cell you should be ready to go after adding a few relatively inexpensive services to your Verizon account (~$5-10/month) and setting up an email address for your phone. I would imagine other carriers offer similar services.

Otherwise, any kind of more advanced cell/PDA - Blackberry, iPhone, Treo, anything with Windows Mobile on it - can receive real-time email, complete with graphics.

Have fun.
