Thank Obama For Your Higher Gas Prices (1 Viewer)

I was actually thinking of this thread the other day. I had to do something for a book for my daughter where I listed gas prices the last 2 years. Last June it was average of 2.30/gallon. this year it will surely be over $3.00/gallon, and there does not seem to be a specific reason why outside of de-regulation, etc.

For starters, years of low prices have reduced exploration, that is catching up now. To exacerbate the problem, pulling out of the Iran deal (and I'm not trying to discuss politics, simply state cause/effect) and sanctioning them removes even more oil from the equation - prices appear to be on the rise.

$3.69 for 87 at the local Chevron this AM.

gonna be near or above $4.00 by the end of May in CA.

good times.

I forgot about Jim11- he was the worst but he was right about this. BO and his shadow government are messing with gas prices to try to hurt the common man.

I have a good friend that has fairly frequent conversations with this guy... FWIW, he thinks that call is absurd.
Well, I do too.  Same as Dow 50,000 (remember that stuff around 2000?).

Oil markets are somewhat self regulating.  Oil gets over $100 and that puts brakes on all kinds of economic activity worldwide, which then lowers demand and oil prices, etc.  Unless Saudi Arabia just shuts up shop and stops all exports...

What's funny is so many posts in this thread were allowed a few years ago but would now get you banned for months (and the posts would most likely get deleted).

Shows how much the forum has changed.

^ This. GWB sucked...and I say that as a person who voted for him in 2004. Obama? Look at it this way. I'm a point guard on a basketball team. Left-handed. I get to face a full-court press bringing the ball up the court while my other four teammates are way down around our basket (on offense). Oh yeah, and my left hand is in a sling...so I gotta bring the ball up-court with only my right hand...1 on 5. Is it me that sucks because I'll make about 40-50 turnovers in the game?! Not saying Obama hasn't made (several) mistakes and could be better in many ways. But who of us would be honest and say the exact same thing about ourselves...not even managing our checkbook or running our family well, while gleefully railing on the man who's trying to be Commander in Chief?

But none of that matters. The more important point is Koya's. The GOP is a dumpster fire. An open-air debris garden. Lost. A vacuous, morally bankrupt hole. Counter-productive to positive progress in our economy/society. Not because of their desires for smaller government, a balanced budget, right to life, et al! But because they've sold their souls. The Koch Brothers could walk up to a microphone tomorrow morning with scientists on either side, and announce that they have solved both cold fusion and the flying car...and that they're giving away the technology for everyone to use to make the world a better place, and it wouldn't matter. Because no one in the middle (moderates) trusts two words that come out of the GOP's mouth anymore. They might only trust 3-4 words that come out of the Democrats' mouths too! But somehow, the GOP manages to be even more embarrassing and won the race to the bottom.
Crystal ball here.
