Tim Hightower recently tweeted that he is coming back to the Redskins. He was a favorite of Shanahan pre injury, and at the least is a very good pass protecting and catching back. Do people still believe in Helu?

Hightower will take some carries away from Helu but Helu was one of the few guys making plays for the Redskins last season. I think he still leads the RBs in fantasy points but that isn't saying much. Royster will see carries as well.

don't see how Helu's value would crash. Tim wasn't the most mobile and now coming back from ACL surgery. Roy and Evan both looked better in about everything. If anything it kills Alfred's value and chance to make team

Hightower didn't have his ACL repaired until November... he wasn't exactly explosive before the injury, not sure he is any more than the lesser half of a RBBC and 3rd down guy.

I think the Redskin RB situation is far from fixed at this point and totally up in the air. Anybody counting on Helu to be the man may be sadly disappointed.

Sweet, I can get helu for even cheaper now.
Do you really want to play Russian roulette with Mike Shanahan? I can't tell you how many times I started Helu only to see a big fat 0 fantasy points in my line up that week because all indications pointed that he was starting that week.

You gotta employ the Costanza strategy with Shanahan.
Coach Mike Shanahan admitted that he isn't ready to commit to Roy Helu as a full-time back yet.
That week Helu saw 30 touches.

I see the Hightower signing as a chance to protect their franchise rookie QB with some blocking on 3rd downs... and not much more, maybe some dumpoffs here and there.

When it comes to Helu's value, I think people are overestimating the presence of Hightower but underestimating the presence of Royster.

Royster looked pretty solid out there as well - could very well be a ride-the-hot-hand situation until the incumbent gets hurt or falters.

OR it could very well be a play-the-back-that-the-opposing-team-will-least-expect-me-to-play-so-they-will-be-totally-unprepared situation. Or a the-dart-landed-on-Royster-today-and-the-coin-I-flipped-says-play-Helu-for-the-fourth-quarter situation.Maybe even a Let's-start-a-WR-at-RB-and-see-how-that-pans-out situation. This is Shanny and this is Washington. I sometimes think he would start a potted plant at RB just to spite the world.

this.

People were buying Helu, saying he was definitely gonna be the lead back, Shanahanigans wouldn't apply to him, Shanny would ride him as the bell cow. I think this just further reaffirms that there is no lead back in WAS and those depending on a WAS RB aren't gonna be happy. Pre injury, I think Hightower was averaging something like 18 ppg, which is decent. And Shanny has stated how much he likes him. Even if all he does is come in on 3rd down and pass protect, he's still taking catches away from Helu, which is a big part of his PPR appeal. STAY AWAY FROM WAS RBs

Some lessons to be learned from this...

1. It's Mid May and we are months form the season starting, teams are still signing guys and shaping their rosters. Don't assume you know it all at this point, keep an open mind.

2. We all might like Helu but the Skins do not have much invested in him so there is no drive to play him...unlike in Cleveland where you KNOW TRich will be fed like a pig most weeks.

3. This is why it is foolish to be grabbing RBs with no real sense of starter/2-Back Sys/RBBC...we just do not know right now so don't grab those guys as early in these May redrafts some of us have landed in.
