Agree and agree. Not feeling very good about this draft. Feel like we may have whiffed in the middle rounds (and lost our 4th).

There is a lot left. Lots of OL and Ss (tough to think we took Bradberry so early). Harlan Miller and Ryan Smith (CBs) also aren't on the list.
On offense, there look to be a lot of RBs and WRs available and Keyarris Garrett isn't even on that list.
Ugh, I get more frustrated by this draft move for Worley because I recall in massraider's draft that I traded my 2017 3rd (since we'll get 1 for Norman) and ended up with 3 4th rounders. I used one to trade up into the 3rd, but I recall thinking how much value there was in the 4th. I see that with the list above and Worley makes me even more upset that we tossed what could be a good player.

So true. I was in the shower and the only pick she didn't tell me was Tampa's before we picked Bradberry. She told me NO traded up to snag Bell and I was a little upset, but I liked Bradberry (not at the end of the 2nd though, but willing to give DG the benefit if they liked him). I then watched the ticked and laughed so hard at Tampa's pick in the 2nd. It made me feel good that there was one more player available for our 3rd, before the Worley pick.

While that may be true, he may have been the only GM that had second round grades on both. I thought I read that Carolina was the only team that brought Worley in for a visit/workout.
I'd be fine with Worley if we picked him at 93 or 129 because then i would feel like we just really liked him. Losing out on a 4th knowing that that 4th could be another CB like Sanchez or Smith or Miller is tough. I'd rather grab two CBs we like (pretty sure Bradberry will be a S, maybe not?) and hope that 1 of the 2 hits. If Worley doesn't hit, that really hurts and makes this draft class crap. After 2013-2015 giving us so many cogs, if we trade up we better get a guy who could potentially be a stud. Vernon Butler, he compares to Muhammad Wilkerson. That's a guy I want even with our team being a solid team because if he is, he is going to make us much better. Worley sure doesn't seem like he has close to that potential.
Add in Jerell Adams. I think he could be a very solid TE2 and eventually TE1 when Olsen retires.
Exactly. I like that he likes him and we feel like they are both very solid. You don't need to move up if you are the only guy that likes him. That said, he had more visits than that:
Our biggest issue now is that we don't pick until 141 or 43rd tomorrow.
Sucks because an OT like Hawkins (I took him in both mocks) plus a RB/WR would be a nice. We only have 141 and our 7th. I guess we are going to have to hope guys go undrafted, but that list above is very unlikely to go undrafted.

I know you guys like lots of draft picks, but realistically how many can make this roster? Go look at the depth chart and tell me who you cut.
I don't think you'll see a WR. We've got Benji, Funchess (who we traded up for last year), Ginn, and Brown. Gotta figure since they traded for Norwood, he sticks. Add Hill to the mix.

I like Butler, but we lost out at possible help for other areas of the team throwing crap at a hole we created.

It was Bradberry I was thinking about regarding the visits. I read Carolina was the only team that brought him in for both a visit and a workout. DG had him rated next after the top 4 or 5 CBs went off the board. He may have been the only GM to rate him so high.

Yeah, I like the size of the two CBs and I obviously hope at least one of them makes an impact on the field. But I agree, I wish we had the opportunity to draft other spots and we could have if not for the Norman fiasco. With Norman and Bene back, we could have picked up a good fit at safety and maybe a DE.. then grab some offensive help.

I'm sick over it. It was monumentally idiotic. It's not personal for me, regarding Norman. I agree with not paying him over maybe 11 mil per so expected him gone after 2016. But we had it worked out pretty well I thought, cap was in a good place and we had a year to transition the CBs, and I figured we'd still have some dropoff even given that time but okay I get it. best we could do under the circumstances.
But no, throw the plan out the window because... why really? Now they are just throwing stuff at the wall, it seems really hopeless in the short term. He has blown most of this draft up over it and there were good players to be had. We should have kept Norman and still drafted his replacement but there would have been no urgency or panic, and what we are seeing is panic.
I think a lot of our position coaches on defense but they can only do so much.

I'd heard about Bradberry. I think he went in the 3rd in our mock. Worley was the one I had heard much lower. I'm better with Bradberry, he's ranked higher consistently. There are some nice guys in the 4th and I just hate trading up for a guy who easily is there at our 3rd rounder.
Butler was solid and will end up being a great player. That's a good pick in the first. While it might not seem like a need I'd rather have a guy we love than reach for someone like Dodd or Alexander if we didn't love them. Butler could be a monster. The 2nd and 3rd (and 4th) are huge questions with the guys on the board available. I think we'll have a lot of regrets on players we passed up there. Butler not so much.
Nope. This is a great pick. He's a solid prospect and he's more of a slot corner. Boykin signed a 1 year deal and is going to want bigger money after he plays well (which he will). This pick as just this pick is really good.
it just underscores that I like the Worley pick less. I hope he proves us wrong. I wanted at least two CBs. After 2016 we basically had Bene and no one else under contract. We needed at least 2 for the starting lineup with a slot corner.
Also, don't be surprised to see Bradberry at safety next year when Coleman becomes hard to afford as well.
Well, we are stocked at DT, LB and I guess this means they really like the young DEs. Personally, I like Delaire a lot. I think D is stocked and set. Offense, I'd have liked Jerell Adams, a RB and an OT. I don't think we need a WR at all. With Benjamin back, we are stocked there. People underestimate Brown. I think he's improving every year and will have a good year. Ginn needs to avoid the drops but he and Brown got open a ton against three good secondaries in he playoffs.

If one of these 3 CBs can play S, I get the optimism. He drafted a player pool for the defensive backfield. Just hope it works out.

And you don't even mention Funchess who should be in the plans given the capital we burned on him last year. Any we selected now doesn't make the team. I'm happy with our rbs too. Might be time to get a project center
Agreed. I like Bradberry and really like Sanchez in the 5th. I like Butler as well. It really was the trade up. Take Worley at 93, pretty sure he'd be there, take Sanchez at 129 (he was there) and we have another pick at the end of the 5th.

Well, I hope next year's draft goes better since we'll have 4 top 90 picks. I like 3 of our picks, but it's hard to hit on picks when we limited ourselves to 4 actual picks (I don't really count one of the last picks in the 7th). Heck, next year we have all the other picks, so we could use the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th to move those top 90 picks around a bit.
OK, quick list of UDFAs:
Devon Johnson is like Tolbert, a big RB. Bonnet, I have no idea about as he wasn't in any rankings I saw. He seems more like a TE. I guess maybe FB as well, but he seems a little big for the Tolbert role.
Love Garrett as an UDFA. Some places had him as a 3rd or so. Big WR with pretty good speed. Stoshak is a who knows, but it said he was a good blocker.
Norris is a decent prospect for ILBers.
McGee will challenge our 7th rounder for the 3rd TE spot. I saw McGee as #12 on Walterfootball's rankings (our 7th rounder wasn't on there).

Nice. So far, Cash and Garrett kind of making up for a bit of a lackluster draft. Even McGee is a decent UDFA at TE. There are reasons they all went undrafted, but at least we went after spots we wanted.

We need oline help in the worst way. That chicken is coming home to roost sooner than later.
That depends on Kalil and how many more years he plays. I think this year the OL is the same as last year. The depth is a worry. Outside of LT and C, I think we've got good young players in Turner, Norwell, Remmers and Williams. Kalil and Oher are good for this year, but how much longer and some of those guys will be FAs.
I know I wasn't happy with our ignoring of some OL either last year or the year before but the OL came together really well. Yes, I know the Super Bowl, but we also scored 80 against two of the top Ds the two games before.
I like Cash and Garrett, but it is a little disheartening to see Jack Allen and Landon Turner (top undrafted C and G) go to New Orleans.

They still have Stephen Hill too. They signed him to a 1 year contract this past March. He has been rehabbing his knee with Kelvin. It will be interesting to see how he fits into their plans.
Well after a little bit of a disappointing draft, it looks like our UDFAs may save the draft a bit (from Joe's email):
Two other guys I think we missed on: Landon Turner, could have been solid depth if Turner/Norwell get nicked up, and Jack Allen, could have been a guy to groom for Kalil. Obviously, it is hard to get everyone, but I really would have liked Allen. I think Cash, Allen and Garrett were my top 3 undrafted guys, so nice to see we got 2 of 3.
I know it is a year away, but definitely liking having that extra 3rd next year for Norman. Kalil isn't going anywhere this year, but who knows after this year. Good centers drop, so having an extra 3 will help fill that hole. Maybe next year we decide to go DE/OT/C happy like we did DB wise this year. DT, LB, CB and S appear to be stocked pretty well now.
I loved picks 1 and 4 (I'll call Sanchez our 4th since it was pick #2 in the 5th compared to our pick #31 in the 4th (12 picks apart due to compensatory). I am OK with pick 2, a little high, but we loved him and he might have been gone by pick 3. Pick 7 is what it is, a very athletic TE who could blossom and in a few years take over for Olsen. Pick 3 seemed like a big reach. Don't mind the trade because the picks we got were valued better than the picks we gave up. I'll add in two players' names here. Kendall Fuller and Le'Raven Clark. If they do well, I think we really regret Worley unless he is solid. The rest of what I saw before 3.93 doesn't interest me much at all. Also, since we got Jeremy Cash as an UDFA, I am also a little less upset about missing Byard/Thompson at S after picking Bradberry. I'd rather have Bradberry/Cash than Byard or Thompson. Cash isn't going to sign with us an UDFA if we drafted another safety.

Yeah, their draft looks good on paper, but Nassib and Coleman from what I have read may be better college players than pros. I like Coleman and Ogbah, but the rest of their draft is just OK. I think the biggest disappointment for them is again at QB. Kessler isn't a franchise QB. I don't think he has a high NFL ceiling. Actually, I think the Browns and Titans could have done a ton better (they still have some picks in 2017, so who knows). I think for both, I liked their early picks the best, but feel like we could easily see them netting not nearly as much as people thought. For example, I know people liked Conklin and Dodd, but IMHO it wouldn't surprise me if both ended up not doing well. Same with Coleman and Ogbah, but while Tennessee has Mariota to soften the blow, the Browns could be real upset if Wentz comes through for the Eagles.
