*** The Amazing Race 24: All Stars; Sunday Feb. 23 *** (1 Viewer)

Whoops, my bad on botching the airline tix element; sorry. Sarnoff is all over it and those are on a credit card and not part of the cash budget for each leg.

The producers do indeed heavily restrict the airlines available to be used, although there's still plenty of room for racers to screw that up. A recent team was Philliminated in the airport after a horrendous choice of itineraries prevented them from even getting to any of the tasks.

After a couple of days to think about it, I tend to place the blame on Mallory for losing the bag and on both of them for not reacting well once the mistake was discovered. Mark just never seemed that jazzed about racing with her. It was a shame on so many levels.

While I get Mallory's viewpoint that going back for the backkpack would cost them the game (though had they been more skilled at hackeycock or perhaps did the other detour, they would've survived) there's almost always a leg that takes place in a cold weather climate. Not realistic for him to survive in cargo pants and a t-shirt.
Kind of my thoughts as well. If they end up in the snow he would have been screwed. The sad thing is that if Bopper had been with him and he said he needed to go back, rather than an argument he would have just gotten "ok buddy, let's do that then."
I don't understand why they didn't go back as soon as they noticed the bag was missing.
because Mallory, like every other woman would rather argue and try to get her way, therefore wasting a lot of time, rather than just sack up and do it.

Thanks for all the answers!

Just to add on to the plane discussion. Pretty sure the show blacklists certain carriers and in some legs, restricts teams to certain airlines/flight #'s so the teams don't find a much quicker route. Also, teams aren't allowed to buy up empty seats anymore. I think they used to use cash and some teams would buy up any extra tickets but this is no longer available.
I was wondering about that, would be the shark move if it's a tight race, not surprised it isn't allowed though.

I always wonder how they find flights so easily and wondered if the show actually reserved a bunch of seats on flights ahead of time and then the racers can choose which flights to go on. When was the last time you were at an airport and just walked up to a counter and they had a dozen seats available on flights an hour before the flight? That just doesn't happen.

Seems that giving away the express pass early is the way to go. Don't allow a few legs of angst and anger to build up against them.
I think the Cowboys were not fans of having the 2nd Express Pass. So getting rid of it quickly to a team that really isn't competition makes a lot of sense. Plus, everyone, except Mark and Mallory, want the country singers to survive a few more legs. That was an unfortunate result of the what the Cowboys did.

I'd like to know the rule. I see teams all the time leaving their pack somewhere and racing to the finish line. Maybe it's best that team lost since they don't know each other and I was getting the feeling Mark wanted to wring her neck or something.
I think not knowing each other is a huge disadvantage. They can't communicate quickly or make decisions on who should do what.

Why were all the teams allowed to stand around and cry for team Kentucky?
It's been done before. As to why... Why not? It didn't benefit any team obviously. Mark & Bopper are pretty popular and lots of people, other teams included, feel for them and their hardluck life. Add in the additional hardluck of Bopper have a pancreas attack before the show, it's easy to see why the other teams would want to give their condolences (and CBS to show it on air.)

This. After quickly scanning everyone there was at least 2-3 girls in the background crying when they were eliminated.

Doesn't seem that unusual. IIRC, the average flight takes off only 80% full. I think they purposely time the filming of the show to avoid major holiday travel days, it not like they're trying to get from LA to NY on Christmas Eve or show up in Mecca for the Hajj. It's mostly off-season, mid-week flying.

How do I never make it on those flights?

Plus, this was one leg where everyone finished around the same time, so Phil just kept checking people in. I don't think Mark and Mallory were that far behind that people waited for hours. I honestly don't recall a finish with everyone being so bunched up like they were.

They did say that it was the most amount of teams on the mat at one time.

i think they reserve a certain # of seats on certain flights. too much left to uncertainty otherwise for the downstream roadblocks and detours.

Yeah, I've always assumed they have one "safety" flight, but allow teams to look elsewhere for something better.

Thought Rachel was going to have a typical meltdown, but it never really fully developed.

Looks like Luke has one next week though.

It varies from leg to leg. I think they intentionally use "hours of operation" stuff to make sure teams are in the right place at the right time. Some legs, especially in countries with sporadic flight service and limited airline options, they'll be spoonfed a couple of flight options. Because if you miss a flight in Namibia the next one might not be for another week. Other times, when they're getting from London's Heathrow to Frankfurt, they'll be on their own. And if they screw it up, we get to see another rare in-airport elimination in a terminal.

Another good elimination last night, glad they're gone. A few more to oust and it'll be a fully watchable season.

John's still a #####. "It was falling apart, but I still wanted to see how the raft held up in the water before fixing it."

I know the couple that got eliminated was so far behind because of not holding their taxi, couldn't they have just paid someone to take them to the new spot or hitchhiked? Seems like they kept asking people about taxis.

The rules on this are a bit vague and change from season to season. Sometimes from leg to leg. I remember once recently in one city they were told specifically that any driving "for hire" had to be in a legal & licensed cab. A bunch of teams at the airport were approached by gypsy cabs but they had to refuse and wait. I guess it's a problem in some parts of the world. But specifically last episode, I don't think a rule was pointed out, could be a new rule we just don't know.

The producers must've been crapping their pant during the rafting. That was a really dangerous challenge.

I hope Margie and Luke are next to go.

I was actually surprised they had them do it. I can't remember a more dangerous challenge. They usually have plenty of safety devices.

At the very least, you'd think they would've had the tribal chief or whoever inspect the raft before allowing them into the water.

The 3 teams I want to win this is the Cowboys, Dave and Connor, or the Globetrotters.

I can't stand Luke and Margie or Brachel. Im sick of seeing Rachel cry.

The more I see Jessica, the hotter she gets. I like her.

I'd like to see Rachel race with her sister Elisa.

I don't like Connor's dad. He cries every time he mentions his achilles (which is a lot). Didn't Connor beat cancer or something? You don't see him crying about it every episode.

Booooo!!!! Non elim round.

Kind of unfair to give a listening alternative when there is one deaf person on this thing. Maybe that is why it was a non elim.

Smelled NEL from a mile away. We were due for one, sucks it had so save such an awful team.

But on Luke's first go-round, there were some roadblocks that were hearing-required. He had to sit them out and his mom had to do them, no matter how difficult. I don't think the NEL here was because one option was hearing-based. Plenty of times there was no option at all, hearing-required or lose, and they had to get through it.

Yeah, I kinda figured at the beginning it was time for a non elimination. But still, when it got down to MommaLuke and Brenchel (btw, I'm guessing Rachel finally got on some bipolar medication or something.) it got my hopes up that one of the other more annoying teams was going to go home.

And who would've thought the black team would be the team with the most trouble record scratching?

So Luke is gay....who would of thought. His mom said after Luke, said he had something to tell her, that he was nervous about and she guessed, you're gay. haha. What if that wasn't what he wanted to tell her?

For some reason, I thought he came out on the last All-Stars.

I know there is a lot of editing to show what the show wants to show, but Rachel has acted normal throughout the race so far. Still says some goofy things (wants to win a million dollars so she can have babies), but no meltdowns at all.

I get the impression that TAR is actually trying to make all the annoying all stars look less annoying this go around since they have so many annoying teams. The youtubers, branchel, and afghanimals have definitely looked a lot mellower and nicer. Twinnies and Luke, maybe there is no way to make them look good.

Seem to remember that previously as well.
He said CBS just didnt publish that he was gay during his season 14.

His mom also told the story slightly differently.

Margie reveals how her son came out to the family: "Luke sends me this text message from school, because that's how we communicate, and says, 'I have something really important to tell you, and I don't want to hurt your feelings and I don't want you to be mad, but I'm gay'. And I was like, 'Thank you for telling me'."

"And he was like, "You're not mad?" And I just said, "Why would I be mad? I've known your whole life."

"It doesn't change who Luke is. He's my son. He's a wonderful person. If he likes a man or likes a woman, that doesn't make any difference to me. I just want him to be happy. I called his sister when he told me, and said, 'Hey, Luke finally came out'. And she said, 'Oh, it's about time'. There was no drama, no surprise. Nothing really changed except I think Luke was able to take a breath and be himself a little more around us."

Not sure if it is TAR doing that as they picked the annoying teams so they could get a melt down like Luke and the glasses. The afghanimals actually said they were toning themselves down this time, so it might be more of the racers not wanting to look like complete idiots on screen.

That said, do the blondes look like their boobs grew? I don't know if they were hiding them a bit more last time, but they look bigger to me. ;)

They seem bigger to me.......but I did get a larger television set.........
What I think it may be is that the little one always showed them, maybe a little less, but the tall one decided she needed to get in on the party as well. I applaud forward thinking like that.

True, the short one does not own a top that does not feature them.
It is amazing how last time I really liked the short one much better, but now that the tall one is shall we say exposed more, she seems to be prettier. Either way, glad they got the express pass and appear to be doing better lately.
