*** The Amazing Race 24: All Stars; Sunday Feb. 23 *** (1 Viewer)

Afghanimals made the right call U-turning the Cowboys instead of Brendon & Rachel, they were the strongest team.

Anyone else think the Cowboys may be a bit racist? I like them but their response to the U-turn seemed a little off, especially since the Mormons chose to U-turn the Afghanimals even though the Cowboys were literally right behind them.
I didn't catch that when I watched it but yeah.

"We knew from the beginning we can't trust them."
How's that racist? Did ya see Afghanimals on their first season?
:goodposting:

Depends on how you intrepet those words I suppose. I bet if they didn't know each other that the cowboys would be uncomfortable flying with them unless they went through extra security checks.

May not have been. They seem like good dudes. It just struck me that way in the moment.

Never occurred to me. Not once. They seem like very nice guys. Kind of sad that people would accuse them of being racists based upon one comment which could be interpreted a bunch of different ways. I mean, did you see them act racist in any of the countries they visited? Don't you think it would come out during the race considering how many different cultures they visit and interact with? But one comment about two guys who played a very untrustworthy game on a previous season suddenly makes you think they might be racist????

I asked a question I didn't make an assertion. Jeez.

This is a race and not Survivor. Trust shouldn't ever be a factor, especially since they weren't aligned with them.

Sorry but to me this is more than just a question:

"Anyone else think the Cowboys may be a bit racist?"

I think racism is thrown around way too much in this world. It would take a hell of a lot more than the comment the cowboys made for me to even think about them being racist.

I think the Cowboys' comment that they knew they couldn't trust the Afghanimals was due to all the "alliance" teams agreeing that if they got to the U-turn first they would use it on Brenchel. Obviously Leo and Jamal didn't do that and based on their previous season's play, it wasn't a surprise. Racism had nothing to do with it.

Fair enough, I appreciate your response.

To me the Afghanimals seem like the team running the smartest & cleanest race and they also seem to be having the most fun. I guess they need to own the mistakes they made during their last race, but even during that season they expressed some regret for lying (I think it was when they denied having seen another team or something like that). I didn't interpret them running a "very untrustworthy race" the last time around.

Could be. It was also an alliance they chose not to be a part of so maybe they would have felt the same way if Dave & Connor U-Turned them.

Speaking of which, why did Dave & Connor say that they couldn't U-Turn someone? Are you only allowed to use it once?

I'm not a fan of Leo and Jamal. I find their antics to be over the top. But, I really didn't like their justification for U- turning the Cowboys coming down to Jamal hurting his knee. If you do it because you think they are the strongest team remaining, then say it and leave it at that. Especially since Jamal's knee seems perfectly fine in next week's preview.

Yes. Dave and Connor used their U-Turn already, as did Brenchel.

Anyone else tired of Dave going with the "I'm an old man" shtick?
Very tired of it. Also FWIW, I had just the same little inkling that you did on the comment being racist. Looking back I don't think so because the cowboys have never shown anything like that before, but it struck me slightly the same way at the time. It wasn't just you.

I'm really sorry to see the cowboys go as they are always having so much fun and seem like great guys. Unfortunately I suspected it was happening as I accidentally read a spoiler of the final three teams a while back.

You think he was faking the injury?

I think it was pretty clear that they thought the Cowboys were the strongest competition, and I agree with them (despite the number of first place finishes the other teams have).

Tired of old man schtick...save it ya old *******...you gets no sympathy from me.

My daughter and I were watching this episode and she says, "Dad...I can't stand Rachel...listen to her whine about being a girl and not a boy. I would be hitting those bulls back or at least having fun with it. Not complaining and asking for special treatment."

I said, "Sounds like I'm raising you right."

Did anyone else find the Bull Bashing detour hilarious? With the sound effects, I couldn't stop laughing. And then Rachel started getting pummeled and it got even funnier!

I was practically crying I was laughing so hard. Even my husband, who doesn't watch, stopped whatever he was doing and was dying laughing, too. The sound effects were great.

They really need to put those bull sounds in those balls. It absolutely made the entire thing hilarious.

Best task in years. Someone else was saying they may save this episode on the DVR to rewatch infinitely.

Them getting completely lifted off the ground, landing sideways, bouncing, then getting stuck with their little legs waving in the air will never not be funny.

The country singers made a good choice opting for the flamenco dancing.

Personally, I think it was a great decision to u-turn the Cowboys. If they u-turned Brenchel, there is a good chance that Brenchel still got a head of the girls and then the girls are eliminated. Getting the cowboys out now and keeping a weaker team was a great call and it worked.

My daughter and I were wondering how Big Easy would have done in that challenge. Those could have been some epic collisions :)

yes, but then I figured I felt that way because of their good ol' boy accents.

I don't think he was faking it. I think he was playing it up to be far worse than it actually was. I find Leo and Jamal to be overly dramatic about a lot of things on the race.

Anyone else tired of Dave going with the "I'm an old man" shtick?
Yup. At least he stopped mentioning his achilles injury every interview.
To be fair, there's a producer off screen asking him about all these things to get specific soundbites. It's not like he's getting in front of the camera on his own everytime specifically to complain about being picked on because he's old or how he blew out his achilles.

My oldest son watched TAR with me and we were hoping to here him scream "My Achilles!" while getting rolled over by the bulls. Not really, but it made us laugh a lot thinking about it. Then Jamal got hurt. They way they were rolling completely over it wasn't surprising that someone hurt their leg.

There actually was one point where I thought Dave was going to get injured. After getting knocked to the ground, one of the bulls comes very close to stepping on the side of his calf full force.

Disappointing.
:goodposting:

I'm kinda rooting for the blondes. They ran a great leg today and it would be funny if they pulled it off after everyone said they were being carried into the final round because they were the weakest team.

Kermit crying about his age and his Achilles again. I hate them so much.

Did the dumb blonds forget they were gifted an express pass? They should have been eliminated ages ago. If the goalie hadn't gone easy on them, those morons would still be in Liverpool.

Same here all the way around. Could not stop laughing. I want to do that activity pronto.

Will this be "Goat Farmers II"?

The Goat Farmers were the worst winning team in AR history as they stumbled through the whole season missing elimination by seconds and somehow winning in the Final leg. The Blondes could pull this off, too. The irritating thing about them is that they were also very lucky the previous season they were in and now they think they are a strong team.

So are the blondes being carried to the finals because everyone thinks they'll be easy to beat?
yes
Bad idea. :beekmanboys:

Another example of the importance of good directions, it was the Afghanimals race to lose this week. If you make a wrong turn or get a bad taxi driver it's almost always a death sentence.

Yep, everything so clumped together that it cost the Cowboys last week as well. It actually cost the blondes 1st place as well.

If those were professional goalies, why are soccer games so low scoring?
Teams don't get to take 40 penalty kicks per game.
But goalies will still let a ball casually roll in if it's 5 feet away?
It depends on how hot the girl kicking it is.
These challenges are always the same. The "pro", in this case a Liverpool youth player, saves a bunch and then is basically told to let them go in once they get to a certain number of tries. His "watch how slow I can fall" schtick was funny :) .It was identical to other challenges they have had that were sports oriented.

There was maybe 1 or 2 shots total they showed on tv that would have gone in if he was actually trying.
