The Apple iPhone Thread (5 Viewers)

I may be the last one who has not updated to the new iOS yet, but anyone know what time that should be available for download on the phone?

Less talk about each person's shipping experiences please...otherwise this thread will reach 200 pages in no time.
THANK YOU
...and just like the whole spoiler discussion Rud(e) is wrong again and others agree with me.
In your dreams... You made a huge fool of yourself in that thread. There were lots of us lurking for a laugh. HTH
This slap fight is silly, but jojo is right this time. Nobody cares about where your iphone is at or how many miles it's traveled. It's no different than SP nerds posting their rosters.
Start your own iPhone thread then where this isn't part of the tradition. It's a thread on the Internet about a phone where you can use the Internet, being posted on a fantasy football message board by people using the same phone they are talking about only 1-2 years older. It's pretty nerdy already.
Or...start a thread discussing all of the intricate details of every stop your particular phone travelled since everyone on this board is hanging on your every word since they could give two ####s where it is.

Jeez.

What's wrong with folks wondering about tracking information?

It is the iPhone thread. I follow along for next time an iPhone is released and go through the same issues. Just pretend every post about the whereabouts of their iPhone is written by Tim and go gloss over it like you normally would.

:lmao: at wasting more space #####ing about posts and brigimg nothing else to the table.
,speople were freaking out about their phone being possibly delivered late. someone told me how to track my phone and I did.it was 2 or 3 posts maximum, yet here we are wasting a page or more complaining about it.GOOD JOB!btw, this was the same exact thing that took up many pages in the Iphone4 and Iphone 4s thread, plus I'm sure the ipad thread(s) and many others around here. If it bothers you, you need to get over yourself or stay out of the thread until the products get delievered/arrive in stores.

All the reviews I've read (daring fireball, Engadget) say that the phone is vastly improved in most every way over the 4 and 4s. Faster, better build, etc. The biggest complaint is that lightning isn't as fast as the old connector for data transfers.

That's pretty interesting. iOS updates are already slow as molasses. I wonder how much slower the connector really is. Did they say how much slower? (or can you add the link)

Sorry that I felt it was odd that on the ATT site there was no information under my order. God forbid I inquire whether everybody's is like that so that I know whether there is a problem with my order or whether it was delayed from the original 9/21 date. Quit you're whining all the time and go watch the season finale of Breaking Bad, or is that a spoiler for next season?
Now mine shipped! No tracking or carrier info yet though.

some people in here don't like to watch previews. it ruins the experience for them.

Geez, I can't wait for the iPhone 6 to get to my doorstep. I'm geeking out already. Only about 400 more days to go. The iPhone 6 is so much more superior than the iPhone 5 it isn't even funny. Humph! You guys and your inferior 5's. What a bunch of maroons.

You forgot to take your medication today huh?

Apple store orders now being pushed back 3-4 weeks, with carriers now saying 2-3 week delivery.

How do they divvy up the phones between retail sale/deliveries? If they're so backordered, wouldn't they skim off the retail store supplies and deliver to the customers that already pre-ordered online? Or is there a set quota for each? Curious to know the business side of all of this along with the customer satisfaction angle.

From Engadget:

To test this we lined up an iPhone 4S next to an iPhone 5 and ran both through a number of syncs with large files. Pulling 5.5GB of data from iTunes to the iPhone 4S took five minutes and six seconds on average. Syncing those same files to the iPhone 5 took three minutes and 57 seconds on average. So, nearly 20 percent faster, but we're not sure how much of this is due to the new connector and how much can be attributed to faster internals in the phone itself.

Great... now my wife is going to ask for a bigger **** AND a longer-to-finish time

More problematic is the speed of this new connector. Lightning's name comes as a cheeky play on the Thunderbolt connector, yet Lightning is, at least for now, wholly independent from that standard. In fact, the implementation that comes with the iPhone 5 is based on USB 2.0, meaning that theoretical maximum data transfer rates are no faster than what came before. In practice, though, we were surprised to actually find a tangible difference between the two phones.

We confirmed with Apple that the iPhone 5 itself only supports USB 2.0, so a faster interconnect on the other end wouldn't help anything (and it's unclear whether the internal storage could consume data more quickly if it were there), but there's nothing stopping the company from expanding the Lightning standard to work with Thunderbolt or USB 3.0 in the future. For now, at least, the new connector remains confusingly at odds with Apple's own next-generation and similarly named data interconnect. That's no problem if you're using one of the many and myriad wireless ways to pull content directly onto the device (hello, iCloud), but if you're still pushing your media over a cable from your main iTunes library, it's still going to take awhile.
EDIT: CE already posted I guess

:lmao: good lord, it's USB. what difference does it make how wide and tall the connector is

Mine is supposedly coming October 2, but I am not activating it until the iOS 6 jailbreak is available.

Is this really from engadget? I seriously doubt they would make such a statement. Usually they are very knowledgeable.
