I don't care period. I'm buying one or the other and would like an answer.

You have posted 7 times in the iPhone thread...and 11 in the EVO thread...And its past the first couple of days and the iPhone crowd is still posting in that thread...you posted in it as late as June 10th. Im not math wizard...but the phone dropped June 4th...so 6 days later is > a couple of days later.EVO lovers soiled this thread for months? The EVO has not been out for months.Newsflash...I don't have any of those phones and am likely going to get an iPhone4 since bundling ATT services vs. my current Sprint/Comcast mix will be cheaper for me.But you obviously care because you can't seem to stop posting about the EVO. And the phone seems just as high quality as your current iPhone and right up there with the new offering. LIkely the new VZW droids will be as well. I kept reading for the $50 trade back for OG iphones but no suck luck

I just went to Radio Shack.They are not 100% sure with what's going on yet. Their ATT rep says they will probably take $150 for the 3Gs, but possibly more depending on the particular phone's condition. They will apply that number directly to your order and then also give you a $20 giftcard to buy accessories.

I put my name down which means they will call me when the phones arrive. There's no guarantee on when it will get in because they do not know how many phones they are getting.

I did not have to pay anything at all. I just gave my name and phone nuimber. So I'm also not locked into buying and selling with them.

If I tried to get one though ATT or Apple now, am I SOL?? I'm still debating on selling through eBay and buying it through ATT/Apple.

In all honesty, these phones are all so close now that whichever you can get the better plan for is the "best" one to go with. Service matters too, so if ATT isn't a problem then go with the iPhone if you get a good plan.

Question for you guys, I have my iPhone wrapped in a otterbox defender case during the week becuase of work(dusty environment), any chance that hurts the signal to the phone? Good question. I cannot have a time frame without a phone, so I am hesitant to put it on eBay right now and wait for the iPhone4 to be available (I didnt pre-order). You have to figure that the price on eBay for the 3Gs is going to drop once the Iphone4 hits the market as well. That's why I'm leaning towards this Radio Shack exchange deal so that I get $150+ for my old phone and walk out the door with a working iPhone4 for $50 or less.I'm not 100% sure what I'm doing though.What does history say about the last generation iPhone's value on eBay once the next gen becomes available?

There is a front facing camera on iPhone....who's camera is better is debatable, but iPhone has two. That an gyroscope are about it. Not much difference which kinda surprises me. If I were in the market, it would come down to network and cost. The rest is a wash imo...but I haven't gotten my hands on an iPhone yet.ETA: Evo runs on "4G" (take that term with a grain of salt, but it is faster than most networks) and the EVO can be made into a multi device hot spot. iPhone can't

For some people, avoiding a 2 year contract is a big deal.Some people also buy non contract phones like this to use on Tmobile, or internationally.

For some people, avoiding a 2 year contract is a big deal.Some people also buy non contract phones like this to use on Tmobile, or internationally.

Yeah, I could see someone with a non iPhone ATT phone who is not eligible for any upgrade at this time and who don't care about the changes for the new iPhone wanting one.

So we read the reports saying that Apple selling around 600k pre orders. These are spectacular #'s, and not surprising at all. My coworkers are saying "everyone's gonna have an iphone, awesome".

Now I'm an iphone lover but an ATT hater. It just occurs to me, "so what's ATT's service going to be like now if it's not just people upgrading their iphones?'

You can unlock the iphone to use with any network that uses a sim card, and not have to be locked into AT&T.

In the US you can use an iPhone on T-Mobile, although you're stuck with EDGE data (no 3G) and visual voicemail is doesn't work. The iPhone hardware doesn't work on Verizon though (different radio band).

Relax, I'm not attacking the iphone. Iphone on Tmobile EDGE is not what I'd call a great alternative tho.My wife is asking me to buy her a white one, network be damned. I have never touched an EVO, nor do I use an iPhone, but I do have an iPod Touch that uses the same/similar screen as the current iPhones, and I think that you can safely say that Apple has almost perfected the touch screen interface. It is always smooth, reacts quickly to motions, very durable...I have seen some reports and video of EVO users with screens not responding well unless the phone is grounded (held in their other hand) - but again, keep in mind I have never seen or touched an EVO myself.

iPhone 4 orders through Apple now ship by July 14, arrive even later

Shipping dates for iPhone 4 slipped for the second time in less than 24 hours Wednesday, as preorders for both the 16GB and 32GB models are now scheduled to ship by July 14.

The delay means that some customers may not receive their handset until nearly a month after it launches on June 24, when shipping time is considered.

Earlier Wednesday, Apple moved back new iPhone 4 orders, promising they would ship by July 2. Those orders were scheduled to be delivered between July 6 and July 8, meaning customers could have to wait as long as two weeks after the June 24 launch to receive their iPhone.

Assuming the same shipping time, orders sent out on July 14 would not likely arrive until around Monday, July 19. That would be 25 days -- or nearly four weeks -- after the June 24 launch.

Apple announced that more than 600,000 devices were preordered on the first day of iPhone 4 availability. The Cupertino, Calif., company also took the opportunity to apologize to customers who encountered difficulties in placing their preorder.

Both Apple and AT&T, its exclusive wireless carrier in the U.S., experienced issues, as AT&T's servers struggled to verify eligibility for some existing customers, and Apple was forced to turn away callers to its toll-free telephone number.

Orders through AT&T are no longer an option for U.S. customers, as the wireless carrier announced Wednesday that it was suspending preorders due to demand ten times higher than for the iPhone 3GS. The company said it has temporarily suspended preorders so it can fulfill the orders it has already received, and the availability of additional inventory will determine whether they will resume taking preorders.

Preorders remain limited to the black iPhone 4 model, as the white version is listed as currently unavailable for purchase. Third-party retailers such as Best Buy have also halted preorders of the white model.
