The Apple iPhone Thread (4 Viewers)

I plugged my 5 into iTunes, everything is moved over from my 4, but I still have no cell service. What am I doing wrong that this won't activate? Do I really need to call ATT and have them do something? When I went from 3gs to a 4, I did it all through iTunes.

That case would be awesome if the phone weren't tucked in to a pocket. Just give me access to my phone with the cards available on the back. Does anyone make something like that?

Here's one with a flap, which would also protect the screen i suppose. I think I'm going to go with a wallet/case this time around as well, just have to find the perfect one. Let me know if you find a good one. :thumbup:
 
I had a wallet/case combo for my 4 and it was the best thing. But the straps that held the case in wore a little and my phone crashed and the screen cracked. When I went to buy a new case, I couldn't find any like the one I had. If you see one of those, post it here please.

I may have to give in and get one of these. Reading this thread is the worst thing ever.

AT&T pushed mine back to next week. Instead, went by AT&T and bought the last one they had left after the line died down. Apparently the one I wanted, 32G White iPhone 5, was the least popular and still in stock, so I'm lucky. :thumbup:
 
Anyone assist in WiFi connection?

Skipped over the initial WiFi connect after synching because I forgot the password to my network.

Now when I try to access my WiFi is just tells me "unable to join the network xxxx" without even asking for the password. It will ask for passwords on the other WiFi networks found, but not for my own assuming because I skipped over it on initial setup.

Any idea how to solve this?

Forget the network then try to rejoin

It wasn't showing that option, that's what had me all :confused: But I found "reset network settings" under general>reset and that did it. Thanks.
 
I just upgraded an iPhone 4 to iOS6, and was looking at the new map app and noticed that the satellite image was taken over 2 years ago. You can see my house and the deck had green fake grass carpeting on it when we had bought it in June 2010. That summer, I removed the carpet and repainted the deck.

I have since seen more recent images on the previous iOS map app, so I thought it was interesting that they went back.

 
iPhone 5 wins... by a lot.

4 drops to rock walkway from 2' up to 5'10" with only minor scratching around the edges. It seems the new glass face is very durable.

The Samsung screen totally shattered and the back plate broke off. They never even tried the final 5'10" drop with the S3.

Trust me I'm not complaining, but this thing is almost too light.

Awesome phone though. I upgraded from a 4, so all the Siri stuff is new and very handy, especially for texting. Enjoying that added feature so far. And the colors just look more vivid on all the apps. And it's silly fast.

Is it me or is does the glass feel smoother or something? Seems to have a nicer/smoother feel, and a lot less smudging than my 4.

Settings>sounds>ringtones>vibration>create new vibrationeta: create new vibration is located in each individual alert setting. ie: text alert, voicemail alert etc.

This maybe was asked already, but what's the deal with Passbook? Is it not released yet? I go to the app and it just links me to download things like the United Airlines app etc. But Passbook itself doesn't seem to be operating.

 
Just read that in order to sync iP5 with iTunes on Macbook, the Macbook needs to be running OS X 10.6.8. Well, my Macbook isn't compatible with OS X 10.6.8, it's an older model (2007/08???).

I know one is able to have the iP5 without a computer. How is this done?

How do I subscribe to the podcasts that I want?

How do I sync my iTunes library to the iP5? Is this done via iCloud? 99% of my music is ripped from CDs. Will iClouds allow me to put my music on the iP5 without purchasing iTunes Match?

How do I backup my iP5,when and if I get one? Who knows if I will with these limitations? Am I missing something that clearly makes having an older Macbook and an iP5 possible?

Haven't had a ton of time to play with it since I've been in the car for work, but here's one of my early favorite additions..

When using SIRI while on the car's bluetooth, you have the option on-screen to toggle off using SIRI through the car microphone and instead use the iPhone's mic. SIRI never used to work well for me over my car's BT, but this makes it MUCH better.

Also.. I asked it about the Raiders score last weekend, gave me a screen showing the score and said "The Raiders were trounced by the Dolphins 13-35..."

Then asked it who the leading rusher in the NFL is, said "CJ Spiller leads the league with 292 rushing yards this season" ...then showed a list of the top 15 leading rushers, their teams and player photo.

This is a major issue and one that needs a work around. Let me see if I can go back and find the article that explains how to fix the issueETA: Found it

The first issue for a lot of people is that upon launching the app, there is an error message that does not allow you to connect to the Passbook-specific part of the App Store. Thanks to the Apple support forums, there is a fix for that. Follow the following steps:

Go into Settings > General > Date and Time > Set Automatically. Turn that setting off.

Set the date one year ahead

Access Passbook again and go into the App Store from it. It should be working. Then you can go turn the "set automatically" setting back on in Date and Time.

Did that. It lets me download more apps(PIA) and then I open Passbook up, expecting to see some kind of interface, but it hasn't changed. I want to load up my loyalty cards so I can only carry a money clip.

In the article I linked, it says you have to use the app first before it gets put into passbook. It doesnt seem like a very stable thing right now
