The Apple iPhone Thread (4 Viewers)

What a crock of ####. My iPhone 5 doesn't qualify, nor does my wife's. My battery life is atrocious. I cannot make it through 1 day without charging and I have a Mophie case to boot. The battery life is far worse than my previous 4s. Pretty sure I posted in this thread about the battery life sucking. Oh well, I have a few AT&T upgrades coming that I planned to use before I switch to the cheaper family plan. I'll dump this on someone else.
How much?

So if my contract ends on 9/26, I will have to pay a 7 day early termination if I order on the released date? How much could that be?

7 days? I'm sure your carrier will waive it to get the contract and sale, shouldn't be an issue.
I guess I'd have to pre order at a store then, instead of doing it online at 1201 am
There have been times where AT&T (at least) immediately released contracts that were close to expiring to let customers upgrade to the new iphone on release day.

Call your carrier today to set it up and give them a heads up on what you want to do, I'm sure they'll accommodate that. GL let me know what happens.Eta: if at first they say no(which I doubt), then tell them you're switching carriers when your contract is up on the 26th, they'll give you whatever you want.

I'd probably throw it on eBay for $300 and see what I get. I can get $200 at Gamestop. I have traded in a bunch there before just for the ease of it, but my kids aren't asking for any new systems anymore, so I don't need anymore credit there. My phones are always in cases with screen protectors, so they are in perfect shape, I just don't like the battery life. It probably isn't as bad as I think because I do use it a lot, but it used it go through a whole day without charging.

New analyst report (KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo) indicating a huge roll-out this event.

• Two iWatch Models
"Kuo says that there will be plenty of iWatch news next week, too, with a device that comes in both 1.4 and 1.5-inch screen sizes, and a huge 8GB of internal storage (most Android Wear devices have only 4), plus 512MB of RAM. That would make it a powerful contender, on par with the iPhone 4S on paper.

The iWatch will reportedly contain a number of sensors on the back to measure vital signs, and should offer a gold color option per Kuo. It’ll still likely ship in early 2015, however, with an announcement coming now to jumpstart developer interest."

• iPad Air 2

Kuo also says there will be an iPad Air 2 at the event, which would mean this is an especially action-packed affair. It could also mean Apple intends to get all of its fall product announcements out in one go this year, instead of spreading them out over two events across September and October as it has generally done in recent years.

• iPhone 6

As for the iPhone, Kuo says that both 4.7- and 5.5-inch versions will launch next week, and that they’ll gain a 128GB storage option at the top end.

I would be surprised to see this many "big" releases at once from Apple... but this guy apparently has a good track record (I can't vouch for this).

I created this PDF based on the exterior dimensions (mm) commonly referenced in the leaks from case manufacturers.
Do you have the dimensions and weight for the 4.7" i6? I want to compare to Moto X. I looked at some cases on Amazon, but didn't see any numbers.

If anyone is looking to get the 6 right away and has a 5 they will be looking to sell in good condition I might be interested.

I'm on sprint, currently with a 4 but looking at getting a 5.

For guys who are contemplating it, the bigger the screen the better. If you can get an iphone with a big screen, do it and dont look back

Its not too big, it will fit fine in your pocket and you will be forever grateful that you did it

I can not even use my wifes iphone now that I have the note 3. In fact, I saw a phone the other day that had a bigger screen and I got jealous

Will be selling my 5 (less than a year old - been in a case the entire time) along with the wallet case as soon as I get the iPhone 6. It's a Sprint 32 GB model.

Let me know when you get the new one and what you want for it. Thanks

I ordered my daughter a 5s on July 1st. It got lost in transit and I ended up calling AT&T and getting them to send out another one. To do that, thy had to imei block the first one as lost.

Well, two months and 4 days later (today) the damn phone was delivered to me!

Is it worth anything and/or can I get it to work somehow? Or should I just take it to AT&T?

It is just a fancy ipod at this point if you try and use it on any domestic carrier's network. I think it may work internationally, so you could sell it overseas.Try swappa

Put me down as predicting there will be no iWatch. It will get it's own event. More so, there have been basically zero leaks it a finished unit or it's parts which never happens at this point. We have seen the 6 already but bit a single picture of anything having to do with the watch? Not buying it.

Two iPhones.

New iPad Air and mini.

Big fan, but not nearly enough for what they've been saying about releasing this fall.

Not saying you're wrong as I have no idea.... but here's some thoughts:

1) Many have said they're just showing off a concept/prototype today as a supplement for the iPhone 6, and the actual product release is months away. This would be a pretty big break in protocol for Apple, who typically just shows finished products that are a week or two away from release.

2) Some have said that the watches may be made i a different facility, away from established "leak" channels. That said.... I think an established facility like FoxConn is going to be about as airtight as you can get.

3) Given the watch doesn't require accessories like cases (where shells/dimensions have to be given out in advance in order to have product ready for launch).... the watch doesn't seem to rely on any aftermarket support requiring leaked components for manufacture.

Just some thoughts... not disagreeing with ya. I think there's no way we see watches on sale now. Possibly for the holiday season. We may see some teasers though...

I'll be watching. Will be jumping on the iPhone 6 the first day it's available. HOPING to get my hands on a 5.5 to see if it will fit. IF the batter life is better, it might be enough to make me tolerate carrying around a phone that size in my pocket.
It may not mean anything, but all of the cases I saw on Amazon are for 4.7, suggesting it may be a wait for the 5.5.

Good point here

There are people that will buy imei locked iphones and send them overseas. The US is the only area that will do imei locks. It's worth about 150-200 bucks or so depending on the buyer.

Ugh. Not sure 4.7 is worth it. Sorry Apple, it's not the motion of the ocean.

Wow, just looked on eBay and saw many completed items for around $200-300. Thanks, I will go that route

If they do release a new mini, and it is due out shortly, should I be obnoxious and, once it is available, return the mini i just got from Costco a couple weeks ago and get the new one? I know they'd take it.

Yeah, I'm almost thinking that I want a 5.5, but I am not sure. I work from home, so most of my phone usage is in my office, but my phone gets used a ton by my kids while we are grabbing dinner or in the car coming back from practice. I also use it while travelling to watch movies, because unless I get bumped up, there really isn't enough room to use my laptop on a plane. I'm almost thinking that a mini, mini iPad would be better overall.

Yep, after looking at Icon's print out, the 4.7 doesn't seem big enough IMHO to justify my waiting for it. That said, if the screen takes up more of the phone's real estate, then that could change my decision. The 5.5 looks big, so I'd have to check it out to make sure it isn't too big. I don't have LeBron hands, but the 5 feels small in my hand.

I'll be doing the same, but mine is AT&T 16 GB and mine has a Mophie battery case and a Lifeproof Nud case, so there!

:greatposting:I have the Galaxy S5 and my wife's iPhone 5 seems like a little toy when I try to use it.

Yeah, I thought the idea to release pretty much a finished product but one that's still months away from being released b/c they want developer buy in first.

Leaked by Chinese Carrier (take with grain of salt):

According to China Mobile, the 4.7-inch model will be waterproof, dust-proof and come with a 1,134 x 750 resolution display made of sapphire glass, a scratch-proof material. Other specs include an A8 chip with a quad-core CPU, an 8-megapixel back camera sensor and 2.1MP in the front. Color options include black, white and gold, the report suggests.

If the leaked specs are accurate, the 4.7-inch device will be available in 16, 32, 64, and 128GB of storage. Not surprisingly, both models will launch with iOS 8.

As for a release date, China Mobile said the smaller model will go on sale Sept. 19, while the 5.5-inch version won't be available until later on.
If true... LOVE the addition of waterproof/dustproof casing.. finally. That, along with battery life, have been my biggest areas for improvement.

 Desperately need the dust proof, would alleviate the need for an otter box. From rumors, the battery improvement sounds limited compared to the larger screen size which will use the extra boost, so I'm not expecting any performance improvement on the battery life, sadly. Hope I'm completely wrong on that.
