The Apple iPhone Thread (4 Viewers)

One thing they haven't gotten right and it bothers me. Particularly on this forum when editing a post, you select the word but you want to highlight more text above or below, it still doesn't let you drag/scroll down into the sentences that you can't see while highlighting(blue dot) the text in order to delete it.
I believe that is an IPBoard coding/functionality issue, not an iOS/iPhone issue.
Ok, I'll PM Joe.

Just left the Apple Store and they pretty much confirmed iOS does not do what I need it to do as far as contacts.

One thing I loved on the Android since I'm in marketing and always meeting new clients out and my phone is a hybrid work/personal was that as you were saving a new contact you could choose to auto back it up to exchange or to gmail or to the phone itself.

You cannot do that on the iPhone. While it will constantly update and search for any new contacts you add on your work laptop (exchange). It only works in the reverse to back up to the iCloud.

I can't pick and choose on the fly which new contacts Im entering go where. They just go to the cloud and I can do with them what I like from there.

Huge advantage to Android in that arena of things if it's important to you....and it's pretty much priority one for me.

Love this phone but will be throwing it on eBay tonight, making a profit and waiting for the Note 4. :/
JB...don't you have 14 days to return the phone to Apple? Might be an option if you don't want to deal with the resale hassle.

so far there has been 1 pocket my giant phablet would not fit in, so i switched from the side "tech"pocket on those pants to the back pocket.

using it has been a dream, very glad i went big. i'd be jealous of my wife's 6+ had i gone 6 as I had planned
you are welcome

Verizon was nice enough to extend my exchange window to 30 days for me to coincide with the Note 4 release.

Since I switched from AT&T to Verizon during this process, I was out of options with no phones to use between now and the Note 4 release date.

Or, I could see if I could fetch 4 figures for it on Ebay here and just buy the note at full retail and turn a profit (and use a loaner flip phone for a few weeks)

With the fees on Ebay the profit isn't there anymore. there are a few "scams" where people are bidding up and not paying making some look like they are going for a lot but with the ebay + paypal fees there really isn't enough profit to justify taking any risks of getting screwed IMO.

For example the 64gb 6+'s are going for around 1,100, they cost about 890 to buy (including taxes), after the fees (around 14% ebay/paypal) you'd net about $946 for a $50 profit and that assumes you don't get some scammer. Not worth it at all IMO.

Exactly what I was worried about.

The scammers and Paypal uncertainty.

Funny enough, people were wandering around the store praying for someone to return an iPhone.

Some guy was begging me to return it so he could buy it.

I told him he could buy it from me for the full retail price and he actually thought about it.

Pretty sure if I stood around long enough I'd have found a taker. Even at the 128 gb level.

I want to keep this phone. I really hope I can find a work around for this problem in the next 30 days.

Hey iPhone experts,

Sorry if this was asked already but I don't normally follow this thread. I've been staring at a cracked 4s screen for a month waiting for the 6 to come out hoping that in turn the 5s would drop in price. Any word on if that will happen soon?

Can't you just use the Apple mail for your Exchange account and then the gmail app for gmail. I do that anyway since I always mess up which account I want to send stuff from.

^^^

It's not about the emails themselves. It's about saving new contacts.

I guess I could try that work around - thing is, Android made this really really simple. When you saved a new contact you got a drop down box of what account you wanted to back up the contact to.

That's what it was a month ago. In fact, Wal Mart had the 5s for 79- guess I'm gonna regret passing on that. So it isn't gonna get any cheaper for a while? Thanks got the reply.

How do you "get" these new contacts...from business cards? If so, I use Evernote to "scan" business cards that I receive.

I am wondering if I should have bought this one instead. You can take the phone, probably in a much cheaper case, out of the wallet. But, then you have two pieces instead of one with the other Incipio case. I just hope I like the one I did buy.

I'm wondering, in the Stowaway case, if you can put a $20 bill or something behind the phone before you clip it into the case itself. Then, you "save" space in the compartment for credit cards. Like an emergency $20 behind there.

Is anyone reporting having issues getting all parts of a group text with new iphone people?

There seems to be some funny things happening with MMS.

I usually just type them in. My problem isn't recording new contacts, it's where they go after I've recorded them.

Begged you to return it? Lol. Some of these Apple fans are weird people.

Bet it on the Giants

iPhone 6 scores as "most durable iPhone ever" in SquareTrade insurance evaluation.

Highlights:

• Both 6 & 6+ survive 10 seconds completely submerged in water with zero damage.

• iPhone 6 survives 6 drops from ~5' to concrete... the best results of any phone they've ever tested.

• iPhone 6+ glass survived the drops, but the front and back sections separated slightly.

Or in the microwave

 I don't have a 6+ and don't wear skinny jeans.

Do your wear skinny jeans, or are you in the clear, too? ;)

Anyone actually crazy enough to not get a case at all for these things? With the form and design, it's almost a shame to go clunk it up.

I'm shocked that Apple doesn't do any testing like this. Samsung has a robot with skinny jeans.

Samsung's Smartphone Stress Test HD: http://youtu.be/N7Glmqb1B58
They don't have to... independent tests have found iPhone 6 to be substantially more durable than the Galaxy S5 (or S4... or S3)

Squaretrade Durability Rating

(tests for insurance purposes - out of 10, lower is better):

iPhone 6 : 4

iPhone 6+ : 5

Galaxy 5 : 6
Just because a few morons in skinny jeans sat down with a 7" tall, 0.25" thick phone in their excessively tight pockets doesn't taint the overall durability of the device, IMO

So I can't tell where the BS starts and stops with this 6+ "bend" issue. Can someone break it down? Should I be worried
I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. Just try not to put your phone in your pockets unless it's completely necessary.

WHen you sit down with the phone in your pockets does it FEEL like you're stressing the frame of the phone? It's pretty obvious sensation when something is hard and straining against the fabric of your jeans/pants ( ).

The alleged "weak link" where people are seeing a bend is the volume rocker area due to the cut away of material. That said... some pretty significant force has to be applied (see the video of guy trying to bend it manually and only succeeds by pressing leverage with thumbs directly under the volume rockers, and only by applying enough force that his hands are shaking. This same force would completely shatter any plastic phone.

So...yeah... don't me a moron and you're fine. Just clickbait from the tech media, and wishful exaggeration by the samsung set who are cranky the iPhone 6 has blown the galazy 5 out of the water in pretty much every relevant benchmark. :fishy:

While I agree with most of your post, the same guy did his bend test on the Note 3 (complete with shaking hands and all) and it held up pretty well. Certainly didn't shatter.

Anyone else on iOS 8 not able to quote posts here in full mode? I can do it in mobile, but nothing happens in full.

ETA: Also don't see user in nested quotes

Are you sharing the same itunes account? I had to make a separate account for my wife after installing ios 8 to get it to work.

Ok, so I just ordered my iphone 6, from Verizon. Question about their "trade in program".....

So they say they will give me $200 if I trade in my iphone 5 since I just purchased an iphone 6. The iphone 6 will be shipped by 10/17 (a Friday, so I may not get it till middle of the following week). I went to the website for the trade in deal - and it says that in order to get the $200 promotion, they have to receive my trade in phone "within 30 days of my trade in submission". How's that gonna work if I submit my trade in submission today?! 30 days from now is the 24th of October, and I may not get my phone from then until the 21st or 22nd. Should I wait a few days to submit my trade in request?

Sorry if this has been asked already.....thanks in advance.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

If I just flip/rotate my new iPhone each time I put it into my skinny jeans pocket will the bend just "even out"? There's probably an app to track the rotation...

So I've got an iPhone 4 sitting around. I'm not eligible for an upgrade until next year, but I'm seriously considering trading in my iPhone 4 for the $200 credit and just buying one full price.

Thoughts?
