You don't sell a ton of billion dollars worth of Airpods that way.Couldn't they have rolled this out with much less COURAGE and retained the headphone jack for a generation or 2.

This guy knows things. And fyi, they're not targeting the 40+ crowd in this thread with those airpods. You don't sell a ton of billion dollars worth of Airpods that way.
Who are they targeting? My teenage nieces and her friends all have/want the oversized Beats status symbol headphones, not some puny airpod. This guy knows things. And fyi, they're not targeting the 40+ crowd in this thread with those airpods.
Now they'll want the beats version of these pods. I think they said 3 different beats versionsWho are they targeting? My teenage nieces and her friends all have/want the oversized Beats status symbol headphones, not some puny airpod.
Preorder today and avail the 16thMy headphones are always popping out of my ears, I couldn't imagine buying a pair of airpods.
I'd be pissed if those were the only options, I probably would refuse to upgrade if that were the case. The lightening headphones aren't so bad, and at least they come with an adapter.
The simple "black" model looks great, I'll be getting that one.
I stopped watching the keynote, when are the 7's available?
That was yesterday's status symbol. See, most of the kids have those. Now apple is going to get all the kids to want to the new status symbol so that the parents will be buying those next.Who are they targeting? So, like a big, over the ear version with the new Apple not exactly bluetooth technology? I think a lot of the appeal of the current beats to them is that you can tell from across the road that they're cool because they're wearing beats. Now they'll want the beats version of these pods. With a battery case.glvsav37 said:ok...so how do you charge it while using the headphones???
my home computer, yes, my music and podcasts are linked. not at work. I don't give work owned stuff access to any of my personal things.NutterButter said:I don't listen to anything on my phone at my desktop. That's what i have a computer for.
I never got into the phone listening at work b/c I browse a decent amount while at work using the computer and i wouldn't be able to listen to what's being played on a video. For music, its all through spotify or google music anyways so its just an account I'm always logged into.my home computer, yes, my music and podcasts are linked. not at work. listen to my phone b/c I'll start something in the car via my phone/bluetooth, then through out the day via headphones, then back in the car home.
I agree w/ you though that they are not targeting us old folks with this stuff...its for 16-30 year olds.
Once I switched to the plus I can't go back to the smaller versionwilked said:Am I correct that the only real selling point they have here is a better camera, and even then, you have to get that huge one to see a big upgrade?

Honestly if Apple had just called them Air Buds we would've bought 90 trillion pairs
It's also black.wilked said:Am I correct that the only real selling point they have here is a better camera, and even then, you have to get that huge one to see a big upgrade?
its all good...different folks do different things.I never got into the phone listening at work b/c I browse a decent amount while at work using the computer and i wouldn't be able to listen to what's being played on a video. I think preorder isn't open till the 9th.I can't seem to preorder online. What's the deal here?
The se is about $350.Curious what this does to the pricing of their current models, specifically the SE. The wife has been sitting on an upgrade for a year and a half now.
And can someone explain the new phone pricing with Verizon? You no longer get a phone with a 2 year contract for $49 or $99 or whatever - you pay 24 months zero interest on the full price of the phone?! Currently a new SE would be $16/m for 24 months. So what good is being "upgrade eligible"?
That's a really bad money move. At least take the upgrade, sell the phone they give you as a new phone and pocket the cash.Curious what this does to the pricing of their current models, specifically the SE. The wife has been sitting on an upgrade for a year and a half now.
I would've thought that new payment model would've killed the idea of people upgrading every 2 years, but apparently not. For me, as long as I can do the basic stuff I can do with a phone, I'm never upgrading from my galaxy s5. I would've gladly spend $200 to upgrade it with the old model, but no way am I dropping like $700 for an s7.Curious what this does to the pricing of their current models, specifically the SE. Unpack these "courage" comments for me kthxbaiTook some real courage to charge $160 for earbuds
I'm in the same boat...still on my Galaxy S4. Thanks to the removable SD card I have no need to upgrade. My charging port crapped out a few weeks ago and I was annoyed I would have to spend a ton on any kind of new phone that I didn't really like or want. Then I found a guy here that replaced the port for $50. Good as new.I would've thought that new payment model would've killed the idea of people upgrading every 2 years, but apparently not. Cause then the very next day she'd leave her current phone on the top of the car and drive away. That's a really bad money move. At least take the upgrade, sell the phone they give you as a new phone and pocket the cash.
Well then you use some of the $700 you got for the new phone to buy a used version of whatever she was using.Cause then the very next day she'd leave her current phone on the top of the car and drive away.

FWIW, I own Apple stock which is why I check in here...not crapping on the product.
Same here. I think the only apple product i own is an ipod from 2007. The point is that upgrade is being paid for either way.... it's not like your $100 plan with a new phone each 24 months suddenly drops to $80/mo if you don't take the upgrade. If you wait 4 years instead of 2 to take that upgrade then you're just paying 2x the price for it.But again with an "upgrade", you're still buying the phone at full price, just 0% financing for 24 months. Why do that if you're happy with the phone you have (till you drop it and you have to replace it)? Gone are the days of the $99 "upgrade" and you signing a 2 year contract (which I'd be fine with doing with Verizon).
You were paying the same price for the phone either way. The subsidized phone plans are more expensive on Verizon (mine will end next month) so it's basically a wash. But again with an "upgrade", you're still buying the phone at full price, just 0% financing for 24 months. This is not how Verizon is set up now. At least not once you're no longer paying for a subsidized phone. You pay a flat fee for your line and then a charge for the phone. Once you get to that point, it absolutely makes sense to keep using the phone once it's paid for.The point is that upgrade is being paid for either way.... it's not like your $100 plan with a new phone each 24 months suddenly drops to $80/mo if you don't take the upgrade. You used to be able to get the new flagship phone for $200. Now it will cost you $30/month for 24 months. Are we talking about the same thing? You were paying the same price for the phone either way. Let's put you down for 2 pairs. Takes care of the short battery life everyone keeps whining about. Can't wait to rock these air pods.
I have both subsidized and unsubsidized Verizon phones on the family plan I'm on. It comes out as a wash. You used to be able to get the new flagship phone for $200. Now it will cost you $30/month for 24 months. Are we talking about the same thing?
Apple said it took "Courage" for them to deviate from the headphone jack in the iPhone 7 during the presser.Unpack these "courage" comments for me kthxbai
Gotcha. Since my wife pays the phone bill, I should tell her to throw me $500 so I can buy my new s7.I have both subsidized and unsubsidized Verizon phones on the family plan I'm on. It comes out as a wash.
Sure, you 'only' paid $200 for the phone initially, but the monthly phone plan charge for that line with a subsidized phone is $40 instead of $20 for an unsubsidized phone. So, the math works out as $20*24 + 200 = $680 paid for the phone.
