"The Audible" Rocking The Podcast World (1 Viewer)

Today, the Footballguys' podcast "The Audible" was the 47th highest rated podcast on Itunes. Not in sports, but against all other podcasts (I am guessing Itunes has 25,000+ podcats). It was #6 in all of sports besting ESPN's Around the Horn, ESPN's Baseball Today, etc.

Congrats to Cecil Lammey and Sigmund Bloom who continue to produce the best football podcast on the web. And thanks to everyone listening and providing positive comment on Itunes.

"The Audible" Podcasts

I have never gotten into the whole podcast thing despite it's huge popularity. Outside of listenning to some of these I don't think I've ever listenned to another.

Do people nowadays listen to these at times in their day(like driving to work or whatever) instead of AM/FM radio now?

Yes and most definitely, YES!

Yes and most definitely, YES! :bag:
That's interesting. I just sit at the computer and listen (since I don't have an ipod)so it's not as convenient for me as it is for others I guess.I can definitely see the advantage to listenning to "the Audible" instead of just about any talk radio. Even if I like the radio broadcast I usually get annoyed with the commercials and switch stations. Neilsen is TV right? What's radio ratings? I wonder how much their audiences/ratings have fallen since these podcasts "hit the scene"?I wonder how the advertising world will attack this

I download some to my mp3 player and listen when I exercise or ride my bike, but the majority of the time I listen to in the morning with coffee when my eyes aren't ready to read yet.

One thing you've gotta love about this place is that they don't do anything half-assed. The Audible is yet another stellar piece of the growing FBGs empire.

You guys have no idea how much your positive energy and kind words fuel us...

and Lammey needs that fuel (his only other fuel is Mountain Dew, Snickers, and Triples from Wendy's), he works tirelessly on the editing and production of the show.

Hi Bri,Yes, it's hugely convenient as you can control the content vs listening to what ever they throw at you on the radio. 98% of my drive time (about 90 minutes a day) is either listening to our podcasts or the NFL Network on Sirius. I'll listen to Sirius until they get to calls or guests that don't interest me. Then it's our podcast. It works well for me.J

Great job guys, not surprised at the popularity. :lmao:

You are the best podcast going in the popular fantasy football niche.

Suggestions:

- Is it just me or is Cecil louder than everyone else?

Maybe its just how other mics or the "VIP line" is tied in and they need to be louder to compensate.

- Would like to see more episodes on fringe stuff like auctions, keeper/dynasty watch, etc.

- There are so many threads on drafting from different spots that maybe an 8 round mock with in-draft analysis is in order.

- Preseason games roundups to point out notable things from the past weeks games.

Where was all this when I had a 60 min drive both ways to/from work :) And I don't do the ipod/itunes/iwhatever bit either - however the plus side is we have headphones at work and it sounds like I'm in a teleconf :pickle:

I think the podcasts have been HUGE additions to FBG already great content. My favorite audibles were the IDP 101, 201, 301, 401 (pt1 & 2). Joined my first IDP league this year and these were invalueable to me. Thanks guys for the GREAT work. You deserve to be recognized! :bag:

i certainly concur....it's great listening while i'm jogging...makes me feel that i'm doing something good for my body and my FF acumen

I generally listen from my home desktop as I do stuff around the house. My wife has even mentioned the volume (so that means do something-- please?)

Great show guys. Keep up the awesome work!

I have also found Cecil to be much louder and makes me reach for the volume each time he is on and off the mic to adjust it. Please fix it as well.

Congrats to Cec and the boys.

Now somebody explain to me how the heck the ESPN Fantasy Focus podcast is like #2 on the Fantasy Podcasts?

Something fishy there....

One of the many reasons why I subscribed for the first time yesterday. Thanks guys.

BTW, I'd still like to know how to get a FBG magazine,...the website questions forum is asleep.

Thanks again...TD

I think my volume is louder because I have a big mouth! :stalker:

I will certainly look into this, thanks again to everyone for listening! :kicksrock:

The only complaint I have is that The Audible keeps me from listening to all the good songs on my iPod.

Congrats on your success, Cecil & Sigmund - it is well deserved.

Next podcast coming soon  .....can't wait for more as I listened to all of the others as I prepped worksheets for the upcoming school year earlier this week and I need more, especially when I heard there are more parts to the auction series  . Keep up the awesome work.......I look forward to easier prep days soon

 Big ups to Cec and also to Bloom for the off-season work.Looking forward to contributing again this season.

Do you have to be a subscriber of FBG to get the podcasts?
Absolutely not Keith...it's one of the (many) things we provide for free. If you have iTunes, simply do a search for Audible or Footballguys and you'll find it easily enough. Or click on the Podcasts tab on the main header of the site and you will find a list of all the files in mp3 form. :lmao:

You probably want to download the whole IDP series at once. You may find that 101 is beneath your level.
