JP's Mom reminded me of Karen's Mom from Goodfellas. I kept waiting for her to tell JP..."She's NOT Jewish. Do you know how these people live?" Come to think of it, he had the mute father like Karen did also.

Has anyone commented yet that Ames is gay? He's got to be the gayest guy I've ever seen on this show outside of Ryan. He'd make a GREAT best girlfriend for Ashley. But there's zero spark there, and I agree he's clearly getting booted here.
Yeah, the wife and I are convinced he's the only person who doesn't know he is gay.

Pickles - will you still be blogging for bach pad 2: return of dentist?
Planning on it, yes.
sweet. based on reality steve it seems like blake will be a hero for most of the 6 episode arc... what i'm reading he does can't be good for his dental career unless he plans to specialize in 20-39 y.o. females/gheys
Blake had a better than expected run. I'll be interested to see how he lets loose on Pad 2.

BP2 will be waaay more interesting than Ashley's amazing jouney. Although I kinda excited to see her tatted up sister rip into one of her guys.
Based on her YouTube channel, she's clearly psychotic.
Hold on here....what's exactly is a YouTube channel and how do I get one?The trip to Ashleyland is going to reveal more Whiskey Tango roots than a Kid Rock song. I'll never forget a summer camp outing in the heart of Maine where we were told to 'be very careful around the rednecks'. I was SHOCKED to learn that rednecks were not relegated to the south, but after a few summers up there, I learned otherwise. So really, the choice now comes down to only two, since I'm convinced Ben and Constantine are the same exact person. JP Wins! He's just enough of a cheese ball to win her over and I could easily see him being talked into every chick flick movie out there without much of a fight. I can also see him spending forkfulls of dollars to win Ashley an oversized stuff animal at whatever podunk carnival she makes him take her to. They're the couple that will put their hands in each other's back Guess Jeans pockets. Water seeks its own level and I think the two of them will not only get engaged but will be one of the very few couples to tie the knot. And did I really see a preview for Jake and Vienna again? Good leaping lord, ABC...first you bring back Charlie's Angels and now this? What the hell?

A "channel" is just YouTube speak for your collection of videos. We've known JP wins for eons, but I'm curious to see how that shakes out later on. I agree that they have a better than average shot to actually get married. The limiting factor is him, though. We've learned that he gets antsy and throws little tantrums. You're seeing him on his best behavior for sure, whereas I think Ashley is pretty much what you see on tv.

Totally agree, but also think that what we're seeing as a woman who is DESPERATE to find somebody who will love her and JP - for all his emotional strangeness - has at least shown her a portion of his heart. The flop & mop twins haven't done anything to make her believe they love her. JP has at least sold her on that. And once she makes this decision, she's not going to double back on it. She's not exactly the female equivalent of Brad Womack, and I sincerely mean that, I really do. Brad had options. This is Ashley's big break and her options are what? Finding love in the dance studio? Cleaning teeth? JP could go Burning Bed on her and she'd still stay with him. This thing is going to cross the finish line and while we might read about some domestic violence along the way, these two have codependency written all over them.

I don't think we've seen JP offer up much of his heart yet. He's 34 and lived in New York for many years now. He's not a neophyte to the dating scene. There are some pics of JP on NYC socialite sites of him hanging with some stunners. I'm not seeing the codependency out of him. He probably wants to find someone that he's compatible with, but I think once they're back in their normal element, a more critical and selfish JP will emerge. I agree with your assessment of Ashley. She's 27, cute but not hot, and seems more than willing to throw her career out the window to be with someone that will love her. I also think, if the stories are true about her ex, she has truckload of baggage leading into this relationship. JP will have all the hand in this one. All of it.

Ames' mom

Former head of the USTA and Wellesley grad. Some preferred stock there. My mom has an associates degree from a technical college. :kicksrock:
I was kind of wondering how Ames got into the Ivies with poor boarding school grades, but I'm guessing connnections and great test scores (plus a slight variation on what constitutes 'poor grades') had him pointed there from early on.Grandmother, aunt and two cousins of mine went to Wellesley....and boy do/did they ever let you know it.

Oh for god's sake. I'm a Wellesley grad too. This makes me none too happy.

Holy crap, I tried to watch Ashley's sister explain putting a coupon binder together. Are you kidding me? What on earth did their parents do to these children? This thing is rife for a youtube spoof and I'm just the man to do it. Thinking about explaining how one mails a letter or ties a shoe.

I kind of agree here. When the whole Bentley thing came to the surface and all the other guys were pissed off about it, JP was playing the "let's stop and have some sympathy for what she's going through" card. That, to me, connotes caring on some deeper level and I think that's exactly what she's looking for - someone who will put her needs before his own. Because let's face it - it's all about her.

They are doing auditions now for the next bachelor in San Diego. Doesn't look like they are bringing back a bachelor from this season. Ames is dating Jackie from a previous season. He will be on the Bachelor Pad in August.
They always have auditions.. for the rest of the cast. I don't think the uploader has any information on this. He pretty much just recited the plea for auditions that ABC put out. Mike Fliess has said they'll never go back to an unknown lead, and that make sense. They probably could start over this time given how weak everyone was. The only options seem to be Ames, Ryan, Ben, and Constatine. None of those will be big ratings winners. Ames being on Bachelor Pad 2 might exclude him.

Everytime I see Ames, I keep thinking him getting knocked silly. I think that punch rearranged his face a little. Thing is he couldn't afford that. Still see him as riding the short bus. He should be awesome on BP2. Is the weatherman coming back as well?

the awkward handshake as they got up from the bench...not good. poor Ames.
Forgot about that! That was....perfect!
That dismissal was brief and emotionless from her. I thought she would have at least been a little more broken up over it. Seems like she started to actually resent him by the end.
I think she was relieved to let him go. Being from Maine, she must know that she'd never fit in with Ames' family. Maybe if she was from Oregon she wouldn't know any better, but I think the family visit overwhelmed her and left her feeling an urgency to part with Red Pants. No, there wasn't any chemistry, but even if there was, Ashley would have felt inferior at every family gathering and she knew it.

I watched only a few minutes of Bachelor Pad I before giving up. Is it even remotely worth my time?By the way, all caught up on the blog. Great stuff, as usual. I watched that entire Love Connection segment. I would love - LOVE - to get an update of where that mullet man is now and how many divorces he's been through. I'd set the O/U at 2.5.

Broken up over her little brother or gay friend leaving the show? There were clearly zero romantic feelings between these two. He was the guy who sat behind her in home room. Period.

It's the Real World/Road Rules Challenge for 30-somethings.

Nothing to do with a romantic interest, but rather some form of pity tears.

Only you can answer that question. Look into your heart, GM. What does it say?

:lmao: The audience LOVED Mark. The gold chain-mullet combo is intoxicating. Is it just me, or did 20 somethings in the 80s look like they were 35? I think she got all of her fashion sense repeated viewings of Working Girl. Of the two, I think he was actually the well-adjusted one.

I cringed at her idea of what "fetish" means.

I think it was either that or seeing him "run".

How far down the chain are they normally willing to go? Is it usually someone in the final 3 or 4? If so, they have nothing to work with here. I think you have to go all the way down to Mickey to find anyone who might be even a decent choice and even then, it's not a very strong one.
