The Bears Defense (1 Viewer)

This is now two horrible games for their defense. They got blasted around by the Rams last week and given the talent St. Louis has that's at least understandable. But giving up 31 points to the Bucs? With Tim Rattay at quarterback? That should be cause for alarm.

Chicago's defense was the one X factor that no other team in the NFC could match. But if this is an indication its defense is starting to slump, the Bears could be in some trouble when the playoffs begin. It's safe to say the Cowboys, Saints and even teams like the Giants present much stronger offensive challenges than the Bucs provide.

Agreed.

IMO the Cowboys are the team to beat right now. Solid D, good running game, Romo is playing well...it's going to be tough to beat them in the playoffs.

LOL every week it's something about how the Bears will get beat.

Why can't people put down the Saints after their pathetic LOSS to the Skins?

please.

They are extremely banged up right now. I realize the d-line wont get Harris back and maybe not Tank either, but the secondary should get Todd Johnson (an upgrade over Harris) and Vasher back at some point, and their secondary has been bad lately. I had a feeling their run D would improve with Scott and Boone instead of Harris and Tank, but their pass rush will take a hit. It was pretty poor today so they might have to start mixing in blitzes more often.

I think once Vasher and Johnson get back the secondary will tighten up

 Talk about living week to weekDid you see the Saints destroy them last week? The same Saints team that got beat at home todayUnreal how the best team in the NFC is either Dallas or the Saints depending on which team looked better that week, but its never the 12-2 Bears

I'd say they are still the favorites. A lot of people are just looking for another team to talk about at this point. Bears have homefield and that is a pretty big thing to have. But to me the NFC is for the taking with no clear cut head and shoulders above the rest favorite. I said the Giants would be in the Super Bowl and if they make the playoffs, they still would have a decent chance to me if healthy. NFL is parody and I like it.

I take posts from Packer fans trying to find gloom and doom in a Bears victory with a grain of salt.

Maybe CHI's defense didn't have a great day, but on the other side of the coin it looks like Grossman may be starting to put it back together just in time for the playoffs. CHI will be well rested to play home games in the NFC against some foes that aren't exactly murderers row. I think they are a lock to the to the NFC title game.

There's a reason for it. Injuries ... especially in the secondary - secondary looked BAD today. When Vasher & Johnson are back (hopefully before playoffs), they'll look a lot better. Also, the injuries are depleting two positions specifically and they're just not deep enough to recover ...

DB Mike Brown (starter)

DB Nathan Vasher (starter)

DB Todd Johnson (starter)

DT Tommie Harris (starter)

DT Tank Johnson (starter)

DT Dusty D (rookie on IR)

That's the main reason. Brown & Tommie on IR will surely hurt the Bears through the playoffs, but if they can get healthy before then, they'll for the most part be fine.

They didn't look that bad to me for most of the game. It wasn't like TB was grinding out yardage and dominating the Bears D. They got some big plays late--two on rookie D. Manning--and got themselves back into the game. I didn't see anything that worrisome.

yawn.....

The Bears defense simply fell asleep watching the Bucs excuse for an offense. And Devin Hester's turnover didn't help.

Their defense shut down the Rams on the road also, so I have no idea what you're talking about on that one.

Not bad for playing without 4 of 11 starters.

Vasher will be back - Todd Johnson will be back - and who knows about Tank or cares...

The Bears will destroy whoever they play in Round 2 of the playoffs, and then beat their opposition in the NFC Championship. Send me a memo when an NFC team beats them this year - will you?

Good luck with that.

All the Bears have to do is throw the ball to their fullback to beat the Cowboys.

The Bears have four weeks to get there banged up defense rested up - they'll be fine.

The Cowpokes are gonna have to run the table to stay alive. No in-season bye weeks, or bye weeks in the playoffs for them.

Good luck against the Iggles without T.O. next week too.

I am not down on the Bears and I still think they have a great shot at the Super Bowl, but the decline has been happening since Brown went out, IMO. They have had some great games since them, but it has been much easier to run on them without Brown.

They've definitely been less stout against the run since Mike Brown went down, but it's not like Steven Jackson or Caddy Williams shredded them the past two weeks with Tommie Harris out last week and Harris/Tank today.

I'm not concerned though - all I care about are NFC teams right now, and there's not an interior offensive lineman on New Orleans, Dallas or Seattle that scares me whatsoever.

But as I mentioned, Todd Johnson and Nate Vasher have FOUR MORE WEEKS to get healthy - and they've already been off the past few weeks.

Ricky Manning Jr. has been a helluva offseason pickup for the Bears. He's got a nose for the ball, and is their best blitzing DB - caused a turnover today.

Im tellin ya, watch their run D improve with Scott and Boone in the middle now. Ive been saying it all week. Run D will improve, pass rush will suffer

:lmao: Rivera's adjustment to that will be the key to the Bears playoff hopes.

They have been smashing teams and then essentially giving up garbage yards/points See the Ram game. The Tampa game never felt like they were going to lose either. The regular season has become boring for the Bear.
