With no sal-cap, there is no cap hit for cutting over-paid players -- just up-front payment of guaranteed money. That being said, I expect to see a ton of vets cut in preparation for the next incarnation of the sal-cap.

Right now, it looks like McNabb and Carson Palmer are likely. Who else ya got?

You can just about throw a dart at the Redskins roster and hit a player that fits this description.

WaPo

McNabb isn't the only Redskin who may not be in Washington in 2011. By terminating or trading the following players between now and June 1, 2011, the Redskins can save the following amounts of accounted money on a possible salary cap:

• RB Clinton Portis: -$5,645,500

• LB London Fletcher: -$4,900,000

• QB Donovan McNabb: -$4,750,000

• CB DeAngelo Hall: -$4,400,000

• DT Albert Haynesworth: -$3,400,000

• C Casey Rabach: -$3,000,000

• NT Ma'ake Kemoeatu: -$2,500,000

• OG Derrick Dockery: -$1,565,000

• DE Adam Carriker: -$1,420,000

• OG Artis Hicks: -$1,400,000

• DE Phillip Daniels: -$1,250,000

• DE Vonnie Holliday: -$1,250,000

• TE Fred Davis: -$555,000

• DE Andre Carter: $2,909,998
Fletcher, Carriker, Davis and maybe Hall are the best bets to return at those numbers. As the article mentions, though, Davis' salary and talent make him very trade-able.

Not really a cut since his contract is up, but I'd be less surprised of waking up with my head stapled to the carpet than if Hasselbeck is on the Seahawks.

Chad Johnson - Ocho Cinco #85

Carson Palmer - assuming they draft one or Lefeavour has shown them something running the scout team.

Palmer, yes. Ocho, I don't see why as he is still a very good receiver. I hope Ocho is cut though; it would be nice to see him on a team with a very good QB.

Portis have any value at all for next season? Or is he pretty much going to be done?
He's probably nothing more than a part time or situational back at this point. His age/injury history make him unreliable as a full time, starting back. He was looking decent, though, in Shanny's run game when he was on the field this year. For fantasy purposes, though, I'd say he's pretty much done at this point*. *(now watch him take a giant pay cut, have a phenomenal offseason and start week 1 for the 'Skins :lmao: )

With the emergence of Steve Johnson and David Nelson/Roscoe Parrish/Donald Jones developing into complements perhaps Lee Evans gets let go?

And I know Reggie Bush is an important part of the Saints offense but he's owed 11.8 million for the 2011 season (to my knowledge).

And Vince Young may be cut regardless of whether or not the regime changes in Tennessee: due $8.5 million (+ $4.25 million roster bonus) for 2011.

Any homers wanna chime in?

Why would Dallas cut Kitna after the success that he has had replacing Romo this year? I would think that if he wants to keep playing at 38-39 years old, then the Cowboys would happily have him back?
Because what the Cowboys should and what the Cowboys will do are two totally different things. I won't be surprised to see them cut him loose at his age.

Based on what I've read it seems highly unlikely to me that 85 is cut. He is due $3.5M guaranteed whether they cut him or not, only $6M total ($2.5M more) to keep him. Plus, he's still a good WR.

Hes in about the same situation as his early season backfield mates (Larry J, FWP) were this past offseason. Will have to take a deal at or near the vet minimum with incentives and come in and compete in a competition he isnt going to win.

Willis McGahee's salary escalates to something over $6m IIRC. I expect him to be gone, esp if the Ravens are as happy with Parmele as they say they are.

Carolina Panthers

###'t Equipment Mgr - Currently making $11.50 per hour, Richardson can find a replacement for under $10 per hr.

John Kasey - No need for a kicker when you never score.

50% of the vendors - Due to lack of demand at the stadium.

Lighting Electrician - We won't be seeing a prime time game for years.

Brian St. Pierre - Richardson is cutting free child care services for employees.
