This was the first pod I didn’t listen all the way thru on. Guess I should go back and finish
Did he just read off movies from his imdb page like with charlize theron?I thought the one he did with Matt Damon was really good and really revealing about the actor.
He is doing this as an entertainment platform. I am sure it is built up to be worse than it is for the show.Yea man I don’t know the guy or his family but it doesn’t seem like he should have had kids. That was cringe-worthy. I think Sal just stayed quiet the whole time.
it's one thing if someone else is calling out him as a bad parent, but if he's the one offering up the story, I don't find this offensive. I only feel bad for his kids that may get some blowback at school.Gally said:He is doing this as an entertainment platform. I am sure it is built up to be worse than it is for the show.
Why would you watch that shi.....crap? Besides the political angle (not anger), it's Simmons and maybe 1 other "entertaining" guy plus a dozen effing annoying hipsters. Waste of oxygen.I've never seen so many skinny jeans as I do right now. I'm the same age as these people. What are they wearing?
I honestly think Simmons has done a pretty good job of building a group of people who don't know what the #### they're talking about, but can be sort of interesting. Why would you watch that shi.....crap? I agree about the lack of NBA talent, although give me Chris Vernon over 15 year old O’Connor any day of the week. A big part of Grantland’s appeal, at least for me, was Lowe, and there’s no reasonable facsimile of him at the Ringer.Rirruto said:I honestly think Simmons has done a pretty good job of building a group of people who don't know what the #### they're talking about, but can be sort of interesting.
I made a post about how the Titus/Tate college bball podcast was awful, but it's grown on me a lot. Plus, Simmons is able to bring in Russillo, Lombardi, and Cousin Sal, so he's starting to get real talent. Remarkably, the NBA is 90% of his content, and he's so far failed to bring in a competent NBA voice. I'm probably the biggest Simmons fan in this thread, and I love the NBA, and I listen to probably 10 hours of podcasts a week, but "Verno" (whoever the #### that is) ruins the NBA pod for me.
That's a long and rambling way of saying that Simmons has built a group of people who are like reading an FFA thread or listening to my buddies talk about the NBA. I'm a 30 something, graying, fattening, balding white dude and I know waaaaaaaaaay more about the NBA than the Ringer staff, my buddies, and the FFA, but that doesn't mean that each of those groups can't be funny or entertaining to me.
But Simmons was the best dressed guy on that feed. House dressed like a child toucher and everyone else dressed like someone who was 35 who was trying really hard to be 19. Except the black dude next to Simmons who I still don't know, but was the star.
Sure he’s talented. He’s an extremely funny guy.![]()
Cousin Sal is entertaining at times, but real talent?![]()
Will Simmons be mortified or will he be elated when his kid ends up on TMZ for some ridiculous incident at some point?Sal’s reaction to Bill’s parent corner this week![]()
![]()
if haven’t heard he took his kid to see Migos this week. He instagrammed him singing the chorus “going to knock that ##### (?) out like fight night”![]()
Sal under his breath: Jesus Christ
I think Simmons already agreed this is happeningWill Simmons be mortified or will he be elated when his kid ends up on TMZ for some ridiculous incident at some point?
When the Cowboys win the Super Bowl Bill will reciprocate. Or fire The Clapper, whichever comes first.Cousin Sal having to sit and be the sounding board for Simmons' 30 minute Sawx victory lap was pretty sad.
You mean you didn't know Steve Nash was Nigerian?Rick James said:You guys have to listen to the most recent pod with Gladwell. He has the most ludicrous take about Nigeria having the best basketball talent, and it goes from there. Truly indescribable
He is the sneaky heir to Francesa's throne.Listening to the Rewatchables earlier. First, he pronounced John Grisham's last name "Grissom" and took some heat from Fennessey and Ryan for it. The next gaffe, though, went unnoticed. He was talking about how when "The Firm" was released, the top 6 spots on the NY Times Best Sellers list were split evenly between Grisham and Michael Crichton, which he pronounced "Michael Creighton."
Why is that funny? His wife's maiden name (and Nephew Kyle's, who was sitting a few feet away, last name)? Yep. Crichton.
Thats a weird podcast. I thought the Firm was a horrible movie with horrible dialogue and horrible acting.Listening to the Rewatchables earlier. It’s easily the best podcast they do. It’s hilarious. They spent half the episode making fun of Tom Cruise.Thats a weird podcast. I thought the Firm was a horrible movie with horrible dialogue and horrible acting.
Just listened to the Days and Confused and True Romance episodes of Rewatchables this morning, first time I've listened to that pod. Two of my favorite movies of all time so I enjoyed them both, and I laughed out loud several times - but I don't think any of them were from things Simmons said. It’s easily the best podcast they do. Simmons is just whatever, but the rewatchables is a great pod. If I’ve seen the movie, whether I liked it or not, I listen to the podcast.Just listened to the Days and Confused and True Romance episodes of Rewatchables this morning, first time I've listened to that pod. Agreed and not close. I love it, unabashedly. Sounds like my friends and me discussing movies. It’s easily the best podcast they do. It’s hilarious. They spent half the episode making fun of Tom Cruise.
They also don't always entirely understand the difference between the Dion Waiters Award and the Mark Ruffa... I mean Saul Rubinek Award.Like the rewatchable pod, but hate most of the categories. I do find it funny that after 20 plus episodes, the co hosts don't know what it means to "win the movie"
Me too. Ryan is likable and adds value. Littman, Rubin, and Concepcion are all pretty insightful and smart but again - annoying voices. Jason Concepcion sounds like someone cut his balls off at age 12. Fennessey is a serious movie geek. Bill doesn't add that much insight to the proceedings, but he does a good job of moving things along and I always enjoy when he brings up sexual stuff. Why it makes Chris and Sean cringe so much is beyond me, but it's entertaining.I've been on the rewatchables since launch. Both Woman together (Littman) are a little much for me sometimes (only because as EG mentioned - the voices). Chris Ryan I'm 50/50 on but really like Fennessey. But overall I love the Rewatchables
I have tried listening to other re-watchables when Simmons isn't on it and they are hard to get through. He is definitely needed to move things along and keep the interactions going. Without him it seems to fall apart.Me too. Ryan is likable and adds value. Littman, Rubin, and Concepcion are all pretty insightful and smart but again - annoying voices. I was surprised that in the Firm episode then barely mentioned how different the movie was from the book. They had different characters doing different actions. They just barely mentioned that the ending was different but there were other significant actions throughout the movie that were different. Plus, if I remember correctly, Grissom (had to do it) was fairly upset at this adaptation because so many things were different that it changed the way he sold his book rights after that. I might be misremembering that but I am pretty sure I am correct here. There have been a couple instances when they are discussing something and I'm screaming in my car "THIS IS WHY THEY DID THAT, DID YOU FORGET THIS SCENE/DIALOGUE, etc"

Fennessey and Ryan have a tendency to wax poetic about their thoughts on why certain scenes are in the film and what they add to the overall plot. It's good stuff, but it can get a bit flowery and long-winded at times. That's why I actually do like the categories, it keeps things focused.I have tried listening to other re-watchables when Simmons isn't on it and they are hard to get through. Fennessy takes himself and his movie takes way too seriously for my taste.I've been on the rewatchables since launch. He did a podcast recently (Big Picture?) with Ryan and one other very serious movie guy that was good, they went over their 10 best lists and covered a bunch of foreign films I hadn't heard of.Fennessy takes himself and his movie takes way too seriously for my taste.

Whoops, damn autocorrect. I've literally seen that movie more than any other in my life. In college it was the go-to when I got home after a night of partying. Which was a lot.
I thought this post was about a Rewatchables episode about "The Warriors" which would be amazingI am pretty gay for the Warriors and even I don't have any interest in an interview with Kevin Durant.
