It seems to me at least half of one "side" won't let it go If you are talking about the FFA specifically and sides here, this isn't uncommon. When folks are as wrong as the birthers have been and continue to be, the FFA MO is to pick on them until they stop being stupid. Not saying it's right/wrong, but that's the way it is.

uh no....as evidence in the nominal shift in those who now believe him. By in large, those who didn't believe him before, still don't. It's almost half of one "side" and almost 20% of the other. Not sure if it will hurt him in the long run, but if it does, that's a pretty sad commentary on this country as a whole and shines a pretty bright light on how we got to where we are today.

ETA: The shark move in all this would have been to expose the idiots in a public debate forum by giving them something they could hold and touch. Though, I am certain, approx half would still not believe him.

I don't think a President of the United States should ever lower his dignity to do something like this. Obama didn't vindicate you; he gave in to your completely unjustified and bizarre demands, and shame on him for doing so. As a die-hard non-birther, as well as non-non-birther, I believe it was my apathy and occasional snarky comments that invigorated the birthers in their mission, strengthening their resolve to shout louder than the other side about this complete non-issue. The laughter and derision I gave their occasional reasonable questions only led them to develop insaner, absurder theories, which the President eventually felt compelled to quell by releasing the forged, kern-filled, so-called "long-form birth certificate"*, continuing the cycle of stupid.

Actually, I hoped he never would. At least not until the 2012 campaign was in full swing and birthers like you were at a fever pitch.Obama did not have to lift a finger.
