"The Burner" tweaks a hammy ... (1 Viewer)

cbssportsline is reporting Turner tweaked a hammy and is now listed as "day to day" (probable) for Sunday.

I have LT2 in one big $ local, and I'm going against him in another. It looked like this was going to be the week where Turner saw his touches increase, what with the increased workload for Tomlinson lately, and a game that should be in the bag early for the Chargers.

I know of a few owners who were looking forward to starting Turner this week, due to injuries in their backfields. Guess this news tempers expectationsa bit. Though it doesn't sound too severe, this is an injury that has a tendency to nag for awhile.

The latest from KFFL is that Turner is likely out for the week 12.

Nov 24 San Diego Chargers RB Michael Turner (hamstring) did not practice Friday, Nov. 24, and is unlikely to play in Week 12. CB Antonio Cromartie will replace Turner on kickoffs and RB Andrew Pinnock will assume the backup running back role.
Any homers have any additional insight on how bad the injury is or if he might miss any other games? Is Pinnock worth picking up?

I'm sorry guys, Turner's injury is my fault. I just acquired him in a keeper league with an eye on RFA this year or FA the year after. :bag:

Actually, Tomlinson's workload has decreased lately. Over the last six weeks when he's broken all those records, he's averaged fewer than 25 touches per game (down from over 27 touches per game early in the season, and over 26 touches per game for his career).

He's listed as the backup fullback on the Charger's depth chart. Drafted in the 7th round of 2003 draft. In 4 years he has 30 yards rushing- 4 last year, none so far this year as he is perpetually inactive. Here's his draft profile: Link

ANALYSIS

Positives: Has good body definition, with a solid upper frame and thickness in the chest and arms … Has thick thighs, muscular lower legs and calves … Shows good balance, quickness and speed through the holes … Has the hands to be productive out of the backfield … Shows excellent pick and vision … Has the ability to slide through the hole … Very strong runner who consistently breaks arm tackles … Has good quickness and balance, moving with authority through the holes … Strong balance allows him to keep his feet in traffic … Has the strength needed to drag defenders, lowering his shoulders properly to explode on contact … Maintains balance and keeps his feet … Rarely goes down after the first hit and will punish a defender attempting to arm tackle … Lowers his pads, squares his shoulders and punishes defenders as he tramples over them … Has the proper body lean to pick and slide through the holes … Pile mover, yet nimble getting through traffic.

Negatives: Not a dance-and-wiggle type, as he's more of a slasher who can make defenders miss … More of a one-speed type and will run high with poor pad level at times, but compensates with his leg drive and strength to break arm tackles … Good worker, but needs reps in order to grasp new schemes … Gets down on himself too much after a poor performance … Will run over people rather than eluding them, but has that one burst needed to break free at the second level … Adequate in picking up the blitz … Will make an effort, but rarely will be seen being the lead blocker … Doesn't have the wiggle to elude the smaller defenders … Likes to bounce and feel for the cutback, but does not have that explosive acceleration to turn the corner at the next level … Can handle the swing routes and dump-offs, but will generally body catch … Does not cut sharply in his routes and struggles at times to get open … Catches well coming out of the backfield, but struggles a bit when having to make adjustments at the second level … Needs to improve his timing on the quarterback exchange … Will put the ball on the ground some, especially in 2002, where a rash of fumbles saw him benched briefly early in the season … Needs to protect the ball better when running, as he seems to carry it too freely, resulting in an inability to properly secure the ball.

Is anyone concerned how SD's special teams will be affected by an absent Turner? It seems that the past few times I've actually watched their games Turner was putting SD in great field position on every kickoff return.

Is SD accustomed to driving a full field? Will that affect Schottenheimer's play calling?

Sorry, just doing my Chicken Little dance here...

Turner may have bailed me out big time, I forgot to drop someone and move Favre from injured to reserve, thus making my roster illegal, (our rules state the player must be "OUT"), if Turner is ruled out, I'll be happy as a pig in shizznit!!!

You had us worried there for a minute.

No, Pinnock is not worth picking up.
Correct.
I've liked him when I saw him in preseasonSeems more of a brute than a runner but he had pretty good hands. There's not much hope for a backup FB "making it big" but with Sproles on IR and Turner a RFA, I wish him well. He could create a career with an especially good game here.Like was said above, I'd expect them to be ahead and him to get some time.

I actually found this interesting as illegal roster=0 points in some leagues and I could associate with this oops. I'd ask the commish for a ruling if "inactive"="out". Usually I don't care for "look at my team" but this was different IMO

What about that kid Perkins they had in the preseason. He looked like he had some game. Is he on the practice squad or anything?

I've already discussed the issue with the Commish, Inactive does = Out. But OUT is more in reference to usin the spot for a doubtful, questionable, probable player. If he is D or Q, he must be on the pregame inactive list or he has to be dropped. But once a single NFL game has been played, CBS does not allow any drops. Our league needs to address the situation as there is a thursday game each week moving forward and the injury reports aren't out until Friday. One of those work in progress deals!

I detect a hint of sarcasm in your post!!!!

Whats the status on Sproles? Wasnt he injured long time ago?
He's on IR, probably healed by now, but out for the year:Jay Posner, of the San Diego Union-Tribune, reports San Diego Chargers RB/KR Darren Sproles (leg) has undergone surgery for a broken leg. Sproles suffered the injury while being tackled on a punt return during the team's preseason game against Green Bay Saturday, Aug. 12. It originally was diagnosed as a high ankle sprain, but head coach Marty Schottenheimer said further tests Sunday, Aug. 13, revealed a fractured fibula bone. Schottenheimer declined to speculate on how long S proles might be sidelined, but he did say it would probably be multiple weeks.

So who is going to give LT breaks? Neal???
No one. LT runs for 372 yards, 4 TDs, 1 Rec TD and throws one to Rivers for a 5TD performance. One Raider fan in the crowd will be pummelled and have his ear bitten off in retaliation for a similar incident 5 years ago.
