The Capitol Police Officer. (1 Viewer)

It's ok to support police that stop domestic terrorists.

Well, when they were doing it to Antifa/BLM you guys - the liberal crowd - were losing your bacon.

I mean, I'm glad to know that supporting the police to stop domestic threats is now supported by the left - I just wish you were consistent with it.

Weakest officer on the scene that day.

Still have no idea why - if this riot was so "OMG!  INSURRECTION!"  as guys like @dozer and others are making it out to be - why there was othere nly ONE shooting?  Why was this officer not on the same page as the others?

The shooting was so bad, it should be used in videos of what not to do. However this was politicized, so they can't see straight.

It was very bad, and did not save countless lives. It was a political missile though.  Scary thing is the other cops were coming up behind Babbit and he could have hit them.

An armed insurrection is about to breach senate chambers, and you feel as though he should have let them come through?
why are there 2-3 cops standing next to them (outside the doors) literally doing nothing to stop it?

Edit: 2 guys wearing black with some sort of badge-like arm patch. I can olny assume they were part of the "security"

Who was armed? And he should have escalated force appropriatly. Not ran up to her and shot her in the neck. That isnt a tactic in the police training manual.

same guy who did this

A U.S. Capitol Police lieutenant left his service weapon in a bathroom Monday night and the unattended gun was discovered later by another Capitol Police officer.

After the House adjourned on Monday, Lt. Mike Byrd left his Glock 22 in a bathroom in the Capitol Visitor Center complex, according to sources familiar with the incident. Byrd is the commander of the House Chambers section of the Capitol Police and was on the job Tuesday and Wednesday.

Byrd addressed the incident at Tuesday morning’s officer roll call and, according to sources, told fellow officers that he “will be treated differently” because of his rank as a lieutenant. It was not clear what exactly the lieutenant meant by the comment.

I have zero issues with the shooting. Said so from beginning.

But come on. "Countless lives"

GTFO
Thank for you acknowledging the shooting was justified we agree there.

Who knows what occurs if this group of people gets in there, maybe they are the ones who all get shot?

If Babbit got through and others followed and pursued the Congress folks that were down the hall, I think more rioters would have been shot. Those are the countless lives that were saved.

Someone’s breaking into your house, you gonna stop and frisk them before you try to stop them? Got it.

I think a few lives might have been saved. Maybe several. Be real. The crazy was off the charts in that hallway smashing heedlessly forward and disobeying police instructions at every step....with momentum. Where would it have stopped?

Are we moving to hypotheticals now? And off the actual facts?
Many of us have disdain for Congress. That's fine, bit we need to recognize that they have a higher level of security needed than the rest of us shmucks. You attack Congress, you face stiffer consequences

Totally disagree. Couldn't disagree more. Politicians are supposed to serve the people. They are public servents.

If I have one bullet to protect a politician or a civilian, I'm protecting the civilian 100 times out of 100.

Dont put politicans on a pedestal.

Preemptive shootings is an interesting angle.
This is your home, you are protecting people. You are in a room that you have barricaded off. The door is being broken in. A window has broken open and someone jumps into it.

What is your response?

Are the cops already on scene?

My home is a private dwelling and not a public location, so that is an additional layer of scrutiny to a shooting.

Did I shoot and kill someone in my house who was unarmed?

As a homeowner, if I shoot and kill an unarmed intruder in my home with police on site, I'm not in the clear for a justified shooting. You know that much right?

Wow. Sorry, but this is ridiculous. Our elected officials, be it the president, the mayor of your town, your US representative, etc deserve more respect from you. There is a reason we elected them.

I'll put my life on the line every day for a random civilian. Politicians deserve nothing.

I assume you valued Trumps life over everyone else for the last 4 years?

You really have no idea what is going on as it's a total ####show. You are aware your house has been entered from multiple entrances and you can see that the backup you had just bailed.

You are deciding what to do in the instance that the person is entering the window.

Do you think you would be justified in shooting in this situation?

Exactly. Its the only "armed insurrection" I've ever heard of where they have to this date failed to provide one single solitary armed person.  That just shows you what people are swallowing here.

And if the officer's name rings a bell to anyone..He's the same guy who left his handgun in the bathroom at the capitol in 2019 and caused a stir.  He's weak and pathetic to not only not understand that he had no legit reason to shoot this woman who was of no literal threat but to also act as if he's the hero of his own story.  The hypocrisy is above the boiling point on this. Had this been ANY officer in Oregon this past summer..or Minny...or Chicago.or...you get it, the officer would still be rotting in  a cell somewhere.

The President getting assassinated is devastating for the country. It's not that their life is worth more it's the position.

Why do you think they are heavily guarded?

The President is also a politician who is supposed to serve the people and we spend a lot of resources on their protection.  I have no problem with protecting politicians.

How do you know this?
