The Chris Johnson Hype machine (1 Viewer)

Ill be at Sunday's game. I was thinking of running the FF world's nicknames by him if I get the opportunity. Being a Bengal fan it might be hard to get him to talk.

Think that telling him he needs to outscore BJacobs and MTurner this week is rude?

Please don't hate me, but I could not find a spot to start CJ3 this week in one league...

The Barbarian

Brandon Jacobs

Reggie Bush

0.5 PPR.

To be perfectly honest, though, I feel kind of dirty about it too. :)

+1 ADP and Jacobs, non PPR. My gut (or maybe the gambler in me) reeeaaaaallly wants to give him the start. My oponnent is starting Lenwhale too, which makes me want to start him even more. :thanks: indeed

It's about waiting for the big hits, like that one. He'll shake some things loose eventually. Homerun hitter....guess that was more of a triple. :football:

It's going to be hard for any of the rookies to win ROY this season...Royal, Stewart, Forte, McFadden, Johnson should all split the votes. It's probably going to come down to who can stay healthy/be part of a playoff team...

34 carries, 202 yards, 101.0 ypg, 5.9 ypc, 0 TD5 receptions, 46 yards, 1 TDRookie of the year anybody?
We'll see. IMO The Titans used the backs backward this week. I think a nice mix would be:Early On: 50/50 Mix of Chris Johnson / Lendale White (to beat up the defense and wear them down)Mid/Late Game: 80% Mix of Chris Johnson with his speed to break the big play against battered defensesHow was lendale as a blocker with Bush at USC? Would be interesting to see split back sets with Lendale occasionally lead blocking for CJ.. and sometimes CJ in as a decoy to open up the middle for Ledale to plod through.

McFadden has more yards and a better YPC average, just sayin'...
But he doesn't have a thread with 1432 replies to it.But yes, McFadden looked very impressive. As did Stewart against my Bears. We just COULD NOT take him down on initial contact.I think we have a very special rookie class on our hands.

Add DeSean Jackson and Felix Jones who have yet to play this week.

Tonight's game will be bloody awesome.

Except when Barber carries them down the field on his back, only to have the TD go to Owens, Crayton, or Witten.

I like Felix, but he simply won't get the opportunity to put up ROTY numbers, barring in injury.

Well it's not like the CIN D is exactly a stiff test, but gotta say CJ looking better and earlier on than I predicted.

Good thing I didn't draft White. :goodposting:

I agree with Titus. I think Adrian Peterson becomes first ever to win ROTY two years in a row.

I tihnk they were saying it will be a very close race... no one is going to run away of it, as has happened in the past.
I know. The way he wrote it was funny though

Percocet and bum jaw makes TitusIII type funny...nothing but love for Johnson though!

From Bucky Brooks weekly SI.com column:

This season appears to be the year of the rookie running back based on what we've seen through the first two weeks of the season. Darren McFadden, Jonathan Stewart and Matt Forte have been as good as advertised, playing pivotal roles in anchoring their respective team's ground attack.

McFadden churned out 164 rushing yards against the Chiefs and flashed a glimpse of his big-play potential with three runs over 20 yards. Stewart's gritty performance included a pair of second half touchdowns and that helped the Panthers topple the Bears. Not to be outdone, Forte continued to display a nifty combination of speed and power on his way to picking up 92 rushing yards against the Panthers.

In spite of those impressive feats, the Titans' Chris Johnson has made the biggest splash among rookie runners. The speedster from East Carolina is coming off his first 100-yard game (109 against the Bengals), and has amassed 246 yards total offense in keying the Tennessee's 2-0 start.

"The kid is impressive," said a Titans' official. "We knew that he was a speed burner, but he is more of a complete back than we expected."

While Johnson was expected to be the Titans' big play threat, few thought the rookie sensation was capable of being a feature back in the smash-mouth offense. However, Johnson has been outstanding in the Titans' zone scheme, and his ability to be productive between the tackles has given the team's offense an added dimension. His 51-yard burst against the Bengals came on a slip draw that started out between the tackles. Johnson used his exceptional quickness to take it to the perimeter once he slipped passed the initial wave of defenders.

In addition, Johnson's explosiveness has enabled him to be far more productive than starter LenDale White, despite an even split in carries on the season. (Johnson has gained 202 yards on 34 carries compared to White's 99 rushing yards on 33 attempts)

"We don't change up our offense based on which one is in the game," said a Titans official. "The difference is Johnson has the ability to take it the distance at any time."

Through two weeks, Johnson has proven to be a difference maker for the Titans, and may turn out to be the best of the most talented rookie crop of runners to hit the league in years.

Choo choo. Texans coming to town. I think its time for a rushing TD. Me likey.

I'll say 130 total yards and a TD this week.

Nice link btw Fear and Loathing.. thanks for sharing.

Chris Johnson to see more opportunities going forward?

Nashville Tennessean beat writer Jim Wyatt believes RB Chris Johnson will get even more opportunities once he gets more comfortable in the offense.

Wyatt also believes the Titans "certainly haven't shown everything they can do with him yet." The team is not afraid to use the explosive rookie in any situation, so expect Johnson to continue to get around 20 touches per game and to make a lot of plays when he does touch the ball. He's a fine RB2 with a high ceiling.

How is the Texans rush def? I have Lynch and Jackson, and its hard to sit those guys... but, man, is Johnson making it hard to sit on the bench..

It would be stupid not to. Look at the stats..CJ 34-202-5.9 5-46-1

White 33-99-3.0-2

So they've essentially had the same # of carries and White has 1/2 the yards and a 3.0 ypc vs 5.9 for CJ. Johnson also has 46 receiving yards, so CJ has averaged 124 yards/game to White's 50 despite only having 3 more touches per game. The difference really couldn't be more night and day running the same plays behind the same line.

Johnson is the only playmaker on the entire offense. Everyone else is average at best.

i think yardage-wise the Texans were not a half bad unit against the run last year. They only have one game to go on this year and that was the opener where FWP scored like 17 touchdowns IIRC.

I think Houston is pretty bad...they were 19th in yards against the run last year but gave up 4.4 ypc (5th worst) and the 7th most TDs against. Their pass defense was so ridiculously bad (25th) that teams could pass all day against them as well. Given the Titans passing game I'd expect them to run wild this week.
