The Dayne Train Rides Again (1 Viewer)

The last four games with Green OUT Dayne has done again what he did at the end of last year when he helped many of us get into and win our fantasy playoffs. The last four games:

21 for 122, 5.8 ypc and a TD

21 for 89, 4.2 ypc

16 for 78, 4.9 ypc

18 for 86, 4.8 ypc and a TD

I just love this guy because he is such a nice guy and a team player and everyone likes to dismiss him but he is still producing, helping his team win.

He is a very good RB2 or Flex down the stretch here.

I just wish they would put Ahman on IR already so I wouldn't have to worry about him taking carries each week...

I am more worried about the two young guys, Echemandu and Walker, now that the Texans are pretty much out of playoff hunt will they start to play those guys more to see what they have? We'll see: I am pretty much convinced that Echemandu is not very good but I don't know about Walker. I don't think Green will recover without an offseason at this point to rest that knee.

I wouldn't be worried. I think they know what they have. If they thought enough of them, they would be playing them already. Houston will be looking for a RB in the off season because Green just isn't the future. With Schaub, AJ and a young and improving (not horribly dreadful like before) defense, they really need a good RB. Dayne has played very well, but he is a good backup that looks good now since he is well rested and the rest of the NFL is getting worn down. If Dayne started the season as the starter, I don't think he would be finishing as well as he has been the past 2 years.ETA: As a previous Dominick Davis owner and hopeful Michael Turner owner, I hope Houston enters the race for Turner. People used to mention Denver as an ideal spot for him and Houston is the same scheme. Houston's OL has been pretty good at run blocking (as Schaub now knows :goodposting: ) the past few years allowing some meh RBs to do pretty well. If Turner is as talented as some folks around here think, then I think he would go crazy in Houston.

I wish, then my team wouldn't need a miracle on Monday night to get to the playoffs.Seriously though, I think Turner would be a great fit for the up and coming Texans.

I agree completely. I was editing my post to mention that while you were quoting the unedited version. Great minds think alike. :pickle: I feel for you on the playoffs, but only in a sympathetic way. I have a juggernaut (that still might not win the super bowl based on all the "resting?" Cowboys/Pats I have and my backups, Cotchery and RoyW, dropping like flies) this year. By far my best team in my main league. Our playoffs are week 15-17 and I clinched first place after week 12, although I basically clinched it the week before, barring an 0-4 finish for me combined with a 4-0 other team finish. No way that would happen, but still not official till last week. Kind of weird having nothing to root for this past week and the next two.

That's why I started the above -- and I like telling people in my league they were wrong when they said they wouldn't start Ron Dayne if it was the last RB on earth. I like that I snatched him up and he rides the pine on my team and other people in my league can use a starting RB.

Anyway, I think he is a top RB2 the rest of the way, if he plays like has has been (reps wise).

He has very limited value from here on out. The Texans will be behind for the majority of the time for the rest of the season. The Texans staff always abandons the run in the second half when they are losing.

The Denver matchup is probably the one exception.

He's been a nice stop-gap for any AD owners or anyone else trying to bridge a few weeks, but I think it will be tough sledding for the big fella going forward. The O-Line injuries keep mounting (2 more this week), and the Texan playoff dreams are dying.

I don't think Kubiak goes away from him, but I don't see much upside in Daynes 14-17 carries per game going forward. If you're looking for someone to pick up 6-10pts per week, he's your man. If you need more than that, I'd be surprised if he can get you there.

Interesting match up this coming week with most people's playoffs starting. Not to turn this into an A/C question but I'm seriously considering going with Dayne against a pretty tough Bucs D over the resurgent Frank Gore against the Vikings top run D. The Bucs aren't exactly the type of team that blows teams out, so hopefully Houston won't abandon the run in the 2nd half. Kubiak has been on record saying he made a mistake doing that, so we'll see if he holds to it.
