The death of the stud RB (1 Viewer)

Just an observation and its only 2 weeks but it appears the NFL has dramatically shifted away from the ground and pound to dink and dunk offense. The vast majority of TD's scored come via the air thereby reducing the RB value. What are your thoughts??? Outside of Peterson and Lynch, all the big RB's are underperforming.

Ken Maxwell write this? If you think this is a surprise then you won't believe what happens to tight ends. They do more than block now!!!!!

I've read some leagues are starting to only require 1 starting RB.

Might be worth some consideration. Then again, it's only week 2. Let's see how the season shakes out and if RBs continue to disappoint and TEs and WRs continue to explode.

I dont know that i agree.

First off week Two is a bit early to declare it, but that said, while the WR have dominated my standard league scoring, of the Top 20 players, 6 are RBs, 10 WRs, and 4 TEs (TEs get 1 point for 7.5 yards).

Whats interesting to me is that:

  • Of the 6 RBs, they are ALL Top 15 guys.
  • For the WRs, you have 5 Top 15 guys, 3 DJackson types, and 2 nobodies.
  • TE is Jimmy Graham and then three total newbies.
So loading up on RBs could still do well this year since you can produce top WR numbers with middle of the pack players, so far.

Busts come at all positions, every year, but the proclivity of RBs feels greater due to attrition and committees.

My theory is that due to the CBA rules limiting padded practices, these first few weeks actually serve as practice for the running game. I anticipate running backs will run more effectively each week. You can already see some improvement from week 1 to week 2 across the league.
