Congrat's man... but next time leave any New England references out of a "Go Bears" thread (at least for a little while).

But I thought they sucked?
I don't know if they suck, but they definitely won't advance very far in the playoffs. Good for 1 win, max.Bet the mortgage on it.
They have the best Defense and the best Special Teams in the NFC. That leads me to believe that they have as good of a chance as anyone to win the NFC Championship.
They have Jay Cutler starting at quarterback. That's every reason to believe they have zero chance to win the NFC Championship.

People are gonna jump in an poop all over this, but as the AZ Cardinals showed us all a few years ago, anything can happen in the play-offs! Why not da' Bears.

Zero? :coffee: I'm not saying they're going to roll into the Super Bowl like the 85 Bears, but I'm pretty sure their chances are greater than zero.

Add ATL, NO, NYG, and GB to the calculus of those teams who likely would beat the Bears. Hell, the Bears even lost to Seattle. Laughable.

Good point... Saints lost to Cleveland, GB lost to DET, do they're both out too I guess. In fact the Brownies beat NE too... so they're out! Wow!

Did the Bears not beat the Eagles earlier this season...?

If the seedings stayed like they are today, I would say there's some decent odds of them hosting the NFC Championship game against the Saints again. Bears host Eagles in round 2 would be most likely matchup, and Atlanta hosting Saints would be the other.

thank you, I was about to say the same thing. The Bears already beat the Eagles. The Eagles beat ATL. ATL beat NO. NO beat Pitt. Pitt beat Bal. Bal beat NYJ. NYJ beat NE. NE beat Colts. Colts beat KC. KC beat SD. SD beat JAX, etc, etc. So anybody in the playoffs can beat anybody.

The Bears are going to host any of those teams but the Falcons, and won't face them until the NFC title game if it comes to that. If they're dogs in any of those at home matchups, it isn't going to be by much. While it's possible, it's not terribly likely that the Saints are going to come into Chicago in January and put up a bunch of points on anyone. We've been down that road a few times in the last 5 years, and it's always a different game than people expected.

If ATL, PHI, GB and SF win out, and TB beats NO in week 17, these would be playoff games.

1: Atl, 2: Phi

NO @ Chi

GB @ SF :) (if NO beats TB, just exchange NO and GB)

A boatload of Packer injuries, the reality of Farve and Childress striking in Minnesota and Lovie locks in a big extension. Don't get me wrong, he's done a pretty good job. I'm cautiously optimistic about this team. When they're on they can play with anyone. They patched up a bunch of their weaknesses, but still kinda inconsistent. Lets not pretend that they clinched first cause they're the best team in the NFL. They've got a shot to do some good things in the playoffs this year, but they've still got work to do. :)

Two weeks of division rivalries to go through... no gimmes. The deck may get shuffled here yet.

If the Giants beat the Pack next week, they can rest up and throw their week 17 game to the Redskins, hurting the 'Skins chances of getting the QB of the future they need. :)

If Chicago wins out, they're the #2 seed.
True, but under his scenario, GB winning out means Chicago will have lost a game, knocking them down to the 3 seed.
Correct. If they Bears can win out, then they would probably face the Eagles or NYG after the bye week as #2 seed. Unless NO beats ATL and then both lose in week 17. Bears would be #1 seed then (very unlikely). If Bears don't win another game, they will be the #3 seed (unless Eagles also lose last 2)As the #3 seed they will likely play the winner of Packers vs Giants.

The Bears could also host the Eagles in wild card game iff NYG win out, and Bears and Eagles lose last 2.

You have to look at the circumstantial factors though. When Philly and Chicago played the Bears had an extra 3 days to rest and prepare for the Eagles game because they played on Thursday night. The Eagles were coming off a huge emotional victory over the Giants the week before and then had to go on the road where it's hard to win when all things are equal. Those factors gave Chicage a huge advantage in that game, IMO.

If the Bears don't win the same amount of games as the Eagles the next two weeks they are the #3 seed. The Eagles have MIN and DAL at home. I can't imagine MIN winning that game with Joe Webb at QB. DAL has a shot to beat the Birds, but chances are that Philly will win their last two games which means that Chicago must do the same or they are playing on wildcard weekend.

 I'd put the odds at close to 50-50 as to which team gets the bye.

:moneybag: I'd put the odds at close to 50-50 as to which team gets the bye.
that would be pretty accurate. There's 4 games that involve Eagles and Bears, therefore 2*2*2*2=16 possible results. Of those 16, there's 5 that would make the Eagles a higher seed than the bears, and 11 that make the bears higher. Those 5: Eagles win both, Chicago beat NYJ and lose to GBEagles win both, Chicago lose to NYJ and lose to GBEagles win both, Chicago lose to NYJ and beat GBEagles beat Min, and lose to Dal, Chicago lose bothEagles beat Dal, and lose to Min, Chicago lose bothHowever the prob of the first 3 happenings is very high ~39%, and the remaining 2 is ~10%. Combined it is about 50:50.If both win in week 16, the Bears prob of getting bye week then jumps to close to 70% :lmao:
