The force of nature that is Taylor Swift - New Album coming April 2024 (1 Viewer)

Creed >>>>>>>> Counting Crows

Black Crowes >>>> Counting Crows

a bunch of crows cawing in a field >> Counting Crows

ETA: And Taylor Swift is better than them all combined
Can we dislike posts here?

Counting Crows has a ton of hits. Creed had one good song (My Own Prison…don’t come at me with that Take Me Higher stuff). And Black Crowes is a band that belongs in the 70s.

And I still think that the 90s was the best decade in music when you consider all of the different genres of music that blew up in that time period.

/rant over
It's not an endorsement of Creed, but an indictment of Counting Crows.

I've listened to the Counting Crows many times over the years, generally gravitating towards their stuff that didn't get murdered by MTV/Radio. I'll say it again, Goodnight Elizabeth is a fantastic song and I'm not ashamed to embrace it.

And, as mentioned earlier, I think "The Bear" is the best show to hit television in years. Just a perfect show. You know who shows up twice in The Bear? Counting Crows. Other bands and artists used by The Bear: Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, The Replacements, Ramones, George Harrison, Weezer, David Byrne, LCD Soundsystem, Wilco, The Pixies, Pearl Jam, REM just to name a few of the heavy hitters. You know who doesn't show up? Creed. Creed is a punchline. The American Nickelback.

The defense rests.

Man, August and Everything After sold something like a trillion albums in the early 90s but 20-something bigbottom was deathly allergic to anything Counting Crows related. Pretty much wanted to drive into a wall every time Mr. Jones came on the radio.
Seems like all of my past girlfriends were into CC. My wife is too. I silently cringe whenever she puts them on.

I feel bad for her that she has to watch Zach Wilson this Sunday.
Zach about to steal Kelce’s girl.

Hmmmm. I feel a Bradyfan83 satire coming on.
Have you performed a satire of Rick Springfield's Jessie's Girl? Feels like some low hanging fruit.
She has an album called “Red”
Yeah, I know, he catches touchdowns
But lately the FFA has turned into TMZ
Kelce got himself a girl and I’m such a Swiftie.

This would be huge right now. You should do it.

Alas, I’m headed out in a trip for the next 10 days and won’t be around to record it. If they’re still dating (and newsworthy) when I get back, maybe I’ll take a shot at it. i feel strongly that the song should be reversed, with the singer singing about wanting Kelce rather than Kelce’s Girl. And the lyrics should talk about how she’s so lucky to have him and that he’s so much a better catch than she is. Just to get the Swifties riled up.

@Chemical X - the rumor is that Taylor is going to be at the Chiefs/Jets game Sunday night.

Ticket sales are spiking - believe it or not.

The Jets Facebook Page I'm a member of, actually has girls/women (and maybe a few FBGs) on there posting how they want tickets, "just to be in the same building as Taylor".

Okay, I listened to the Counting Crows "Recovering the Satellites" whilst doing dishes last night and I think I need to walk back a lot of what was said yesterday. His voice can make the noise of scrubbing pots and pans with an SOS pad sound heavenly by comparison. Yeesh.

i said, good morning google and my routine is jet news. 20 minutes listening to hash tag taylor swift, taylor swift attending game, omg taylor swift in new york and ponies and learning express and disney+ and monster high 2 and glee and glitter and gymnastics.

Look, the NFL needed a ratings boost, okay? There wasn't enough drama, so they paid Swift a boatload of money to attend a few games and help get ratings up. Won't somebody please think of the poor owners for once.

So......Travis usually sports a mustache and shaves it off after training camp is over. BUT, training camp ended and the rumors started about Taylor. And he STILL HAS THE MUSTACHE!!!!

OMG I wonder if Taylor told him she likes the mustache on him!!!!!

I mean, it's the only guy she's ever dated who could actually grow a mustache. All the other guys look like they shave with one of those kids shaving kits you give your boys when they're 8 to pretend like their shaving.

Lol, I'm loving this pretend old guy schtick from you. Keep it up.

Selling out a Jets game might be TS's greatest career accomplishment

I know guys who play FF get a bad rap (esp from women) about all this "useless knowledge" and "waste of time" spent thinking about rosters and stats and stuff. But this whole TS/Kelce thing is really showing how absolutely bat poop crazy Swifties are about her. They are analyzing and obsessing over every move, what he's wearing, what she's wearing, and her hair was up during the game but it was down when they walked out and what it might mean. Its cray. This girl can't fart without the world wondering if that's going to be the new hook on her latest unannounced, unreleased hit song, and "OMGGGGOD She had chicken fingers and ranch at the game, see I told you that her new album is going to be recorded on a farm, that's proof...SQuuuuuuuuueeeee!"

She has turned it down numerous times, including again recently for this year's (they had to settle for Usher). She doesn't need it, as I would say she is doing just fine on her own. ;) I suspect she will do it one day, as I would imagine that is one of those musical things on her to-do list she wants to checkmark at some point, but that is is likely years down the line.

It's the only way many of us will ever get to see her perform live so I hope this happens!

Don’t worry I’m not going to get political, but I’m beginning to detect a lot of people grumbling about Taylor Swift’s presence last night and the attention she is getting. Personally I thought it was great. But there is a conservative- I don’t use that word in a political sense, but more in a traditional sense- attitude among many football fans I think and they don’t seem to appreciate her, or feel threatened by her, or whatever.

I didn’t watch the game, but I can see being annoyed if it’s detracting from the coverage of the game. Then again, in a football broadcast there is a lot of time to fill.

Meh. Just another person at a football game. There are 70K of them in the stadium. Nobody is less impressed with celebrities in all walks of life than me. They are typically pretty dumb and singularly talented. She sings, she dances (so dual talented I guess ) ... just like Brittany Spears, Paula Abdul, etc before her. There's no shortage of people trying to take your money

the only ones upset at this is the "guys club" type of people who use Sunday football to hang with the boys and get out of the house. I dont do that but I know a lot of guys who do and I don't hold that against them (Sheeze, I wish I had my Sundays free from kid's sports and house errands to do that). To them, I bet they look at it as an intrusion on "their thing" esp when the wife/gf is really only there to squee over TS, not actually watch the game and ask a whole lot of dumb questions like "why do they slap each other's butts so much??"

There was a shot of TS from last night kinda mocking how they "bro hug" and dab each other between plays. Guys dont need that energy when they just want to be guys.

However, from an NFL standpoint, this is such a great opportunity to bring in young female demographic fans that you might almost think it was a scripted marketing campaign. I dont think I've heard or seen more women say the word "football" in a positive light since forever like I have in the last 2 weeks. I think I heard Kelce's jersey shot to one of the highest-selling jerseys within hours of the news breaking. Now how many stay past the hype is yet to be seen. But I'm sure the female viewership for a regular season game (esp a Jets game) is off the charts today.

There was a funny TikTok trend going around last week where wives/gf's were telling their husbands/BFs "How awesome it is that TS put this 'Kelce guy' on the map. I mean no one had ever heard of him until TS started going to games" and filming their reaction. lol

That's not the case. There are a *LOT* of other people upset at this, but as Tim said, we can't get political. Suffice it to say, there are headlines that read Taylor Swift's Popularity Is A Sign Of Societal Decline.

I'll leave it there.

I'm not saying you're wrong, and I'm not wasting my time googling it, but I wouldn't give those types of "articles" the respect of training a dog on them.

And I prob fit the "type of person politically" they may be aimed at.

Shes a pretty celebrity, he's an athlete, its the HS cheerleader/Varsity QB thing that has been swooned over hundreds of times. (as i said uptread) TBH I find her fans trying to mentally diagnose everything she does like it's some grand master clue as to her next song insufferable.

:lmao:

I just find the fact that people are upset over the camera's showing her to be laughable. She's the biggest celebrity in the world and now she's going to football games. OF COURSE they are going to show her on TV. The networks paid obscene amounts of money to broadcast the games; having Taylor show up to these games is a gift they weren't counting on. I wonder if the same people shouting in the ether at Taylor being on their TV are also furious when they show celebrities at the US Open or NBA games. How fragile do you have to be to get angry at stuff like this?

And he’s not the starting QB. You completely missed my point (which oddly enough out of the whole post was the least important)

HS cheerleader = the pretty girl. I.e. the biggest female celebrity right now. I don’t expect her to be in a KC colored outfit and waving pompoms on the sideline 🤦‍♂️

That's not the case. There are a *LOT* of other people upset at this, but as Tim said, we can't get political. Suffice it to say, there are headlines that read Taylor Swift's Popularity Is A Sign Of Societal Decline.

I'll leave it there.
:bored:

Very true. I'd think of it this way:

She is the biggest and most popular musician on the planet right now. Her showing up to a televised national sporting event is going to be big news and get covered a lot.

If the biggest and most popular athlete (whoever that is right now) on the planet showed up to a highly publicized music event/concert, it would be big news and get major coverage.

Not sure how this is surprising to anyone.

Ahhhh, there it is. The dismissive Taylor Swift take. All she does is sing and dance.
Yep. And it's a sexist take. Not to mention that she doesn't identify as a singer or dancer. If someone asks her what her profession is, she will always say songwriter. That is the defining characteristic of her chosen profession, and someone assuming she just sings like certain old female pop stars, neither of whom were songwriters, is a comment you know they'd never make about a male musician.

the only ones upset at this is the "guys club" type of people who use Sunday football to hang with the boys and get out of the house.

She’s not a cheerleader! She doesn’t want to be a cheerleader. She’s on the bleachers…
And he’s not the starting QB. You completely missed my point (which oddly enough out of the whole post was the least important)

HS cheerleader = the pretty girl. I.e. the biggest female celebrity right now. I don’t expect her to be in a KC colored outfit and waving pompoms on the sideline 🤦‍♂️

and you missed the joke, which is understandable if you’re not a fan

The Jets/Chiefs game thread last night had some scorching hot takes on Swift, complete with her attractiveness on a scale of 1-10 being a 6 at best. Where do these guys live where Swift is a 6? That's where I want to live!
