The future of Rex Grossman (1 Viewer)

I am hurting at QB with Bulger not doing so well. What is your take on Rex Grossman. I think that his schedule is relatively lite this year especially starting in week 14 (Our leagues playoffs). I am also interested in what you think about his future value. Injuries are of great concern, but how about his talent?

Thanks for the link guys. Guess I should have run a search first as this stuff was already out there. Love the youtube stuff.

Solid backup - especially if you got him for free off the waiver wire like many us. Potential to be a starter this year considering the easy schedule.

He seems to force it into coverage a lot. I don't think this is a great comparison but does he seem to play like Farve with a smaller cannon, and infinitely more injuries. I liked what I saw though, can’t wait to see how he does in the next couple weeks.

Grossman is going to make Bret Favre look like Bret Sommers.

I agree - many of his throws scare me - for example the interception last week returned for a touchdown that was luckily called back. In that way, he does remind me of Favre a little ... might be a high-risk, high-reward type of QB ...

The Bears are a running team. They will always be a running team. That is what Bear football is all about. The aerial circus ensued because both Green Bay and Detroit made a concentrated effort to stop the run and let Rex beat them. Great - mission accomplished. But, that doesn't mean that Rex is all of a sudden Peyton Manning with the Bears spreading the field with three or four wides on first down. I think they will be more balanced, but the entire passing game will fall back to middle of the pack soon enough.

Well it’s week 5 and Grossman is third in scoring, only a couple of points behind Manning. Actually, if you compare them week to week they are almost exactly the same. I can’t find anyone that is rating him in the top 15 redraft, keeper, or dynasty. There is something seriously wrong with having Jay Cutler, Vince Young, Drew Brees, Drew Bledsoe, and David Carr consistently ranked ahead of him in various formats. Other posters are still getting him as a throw-in trade wise. Am I the only one who thinks he is still the ultimate buy low?

The Bears will have clinched their division by week 12 and probably have home field advantage wrapped up by week 14. Having Manning and Harrison last year, this is not good. Of course maybe the Bears will not pull a Colts and only play their starters one series. But it is something to think about.

I'm a bit concerned about the Bears clinching early, but that concern is mitigated by the fact that Grossman is much greener than Manning. They'll want to play him more to keep him sharp. I don't think it's reasonable to take Grossman out for 3-4 weeks and expect him to pick up where he left off.Plus, it sure didn't work for Manning, who was supposed to be able to keep his edge because of his experience.

I am a Grossman owner in a dynasty and tried to trade him about two weeks ago figuring I need to sell high, but the guy I was trying to trade with would not give me anything for him.

I've got Grossman in a redraft, after starting the season with Plummer/Brooks and this sense of desperation struck! :D

Actually have no intentions of trading him. The prayer of course is that he explodes more often ala week 2--but at least knowing that he's got it in him and the offense is playing a more open game this year makes starting him a good play in any case. In this league he would be #6 even counting week 2 at his average for the other four weeks.
