The Jets (1 Viewer)

On paper it looks pretty formidable.

But have they played a (good)running team yet this year?

singed: Chris Johnson owner.

All you have to do is watch some highlights with Kris Jenkins in the game. He is the main reason they are stout this year against the run. The guy is an absolute beast in the middle. The Jets' rush defense is for real.

Jenkins play has been inspired, he's a game changer.

David Harris will be out again this week, David Bowens will start at ILB.

Im considering benching the Jets D for the Dallas D this week. I think it will be somewhere on the lower end for scoring defense in this game and for Chris Johnson. Gage and Collins will have to step up for this win.

Its a legit good run defense, that being said they haven't faced a challenge anywhere near what Tennessee will throw at them.

:goodposting: that being said, I think the Titans will be able to exploit the Jets with the pass. not that they're terrible (14th?), I just think Cassell gave the Titans some leverage on how to attack them.I have CJ and TJ as my RB choices and right now it's a coin toss who I'm going to start with Barber. Leaning towards CJ. yeah, TJ has been on a tear the last 3 weeks (@Buff, Stl, @NE), but CJ has faced two really tough Ds in Chi and Jax and I think he'll be able to run all over the place with short dump offs out of the backfield. :2cents:

Statistically the Jets are better than CHI and much better than JAX with regards to rushing D, so don't expect a huge day from Chris Johnson, IMO.

If the Jets get the pass rush together like they did in the first half vs the Pats, it won't bode well for the Tenn pass game. It was only when the Jets defense backed up and off the rush that Cassel really had room to throw underneath.

For whatever reason, it seems that it is very important for Jets fans to keep telling themselves this. Back on topic, the best way to deal with Jenkins is to not even bother trying to run the ball.

Big day OR bad day for Collins on Sunday.

I honestly wouldn't use Cassel's performance as an indictment against the jets pass D. The Coaching staff put the breaks on after point #24 went up on the scoreboard. They started conceding 15 yard pass plays every down and were focused 100% on keeping moss from going over the top. (which was pretty silly considering that Cassel hasnt thrown a good deep ball for most of the season).I think the Jets D will play well on sunday. 10 days to game plan should do wonders for the blitzing schemes (assuming that Sutton and mangini have the guts to do it)

It's actually not so black and white. I think the Jets did do that but then they tried to get to Cassel later and byt then he was more confident and his line had shored up a bit. That's not the point here, though. You might have the two best nose guards in the league on both sides of the ball this week. The Titans will pound the ball, they won't be a pass defense first. I expect this to be much more low scoring than the Thursday game between the Pats and Jets.

Not sure I follow why the Titans won't continue to do what has been successful in recent weeks. If they can pass effectively against Mathis and the Jags secondary, I'm confident they can pass successfully against the Jets secondary. Running against Jenkins is ill-advised, even if you are the Titans.

Isn't this indicative of who they have played? The only run first teams on their schedule were MIA in week 1(only 17 rushes) and SD, week 3(SD-blew them out 48-29)

They haven't faced a run first team in two months.

This should be a very good game.

It is quite indicative of whom they have played. Should they go and play teams that aren't on their schedule to strengthen their credentials? They are a top defensive rushing unit. I do not expect a huge game from Lendale or Johnson (and I am starting Johnson). Does this mean the Titans won't run for 250 on the ground? No, but all I have to go on is the stats.

As a Jets fan, I think our biggest weakness is our mental game on D. Every time we have a great lead our D gets lethargic. It's kind of "well we have Brett so who cares if we let up a TD or 2." I hate watching the Jets blow a lead every single game. On that note, did anyone see the intensity they played with in the first quarter of the Pats game? They were explosive and tough, and I hope they stay that way for the Titans entire game.

Agreed, because if they don't they are not good enough to beat this Titans team.
