the legal system at its finest (1 Viewer)

Why the laugh? I think this is pretty important for the fantasy biz.
:goodposting: An opposite ruling could have led to a major reduction/consolidation of league hosting websites and may also eventually have put in jeopardy sites like FBG and even the rights of people to run a league offline. The last part is probably a little hysterical, but the pendulum gains momentum as it swings...

It sounds like the ruling is pretty strong. I think the major point was that fantasy sites aren't using anything you wouldn't find in your daily box score (or could calculate from them). Everyone remembers running their FF leagues by computing everything from the Monday paper.

Curious what happens with NFLPA hunting down licensing fees now.

Just to clarify, this is not a landmark case but a repeat of one. I don't recall any specifics but stats are public domain and this was hashed out here last summer in great detail.

I remember this

as the start of it all years ago.

Basically the leagues keep getting shot down. This seems an important one because many think it's the last try by them.

here was the followup back then

keep in mind 1996

Can't believe how the players and owners have taken baseball from the national pastime to the national joke.
