The Masters - A Tradition Unlike Any Other (2 Viewers)

btw - any video game guys - EA Road to the MAsters game is totally worth it and can be bought on the cheap.

It gets super easy as you level up but playing Augusta and they added the Par 3 is fantastic.

As close as I'll ever come to playing the actual course

Tried finding the Masters app on my Roku this morning. Couldn't find anything in my search.

Did this change or is it only thru the Masters website now?
It's probably not on the Roku store. Might have to DL it on your phone/tablet or stream on your PC (Chrome browsers cast to Roku TV I believe) and cast it to your TV.

FWIW I am using the app on my phone - and a chromecast. It gets a touch fuzzy now and again but overall been flawless so far

Oooooh last time I looked it was 60 bucks. I’ll check again.

If you have Xbox I think it's free now if you have Game Pass ($10/mo but deals can be had for less).

Has anyone here ever been a spectator at The Masters? What's the scene like? I am fairly new to golf, so I wasn't aware of the concession prices. How "diverse" is the gallery?

Best sporting event I've been to. Better than Super bowl, Daytona, Final 4. It's a little like going to Disney Land in that everything is in it's perfect place. Because the event is there every year, the details are easier to take care of (ie gallery roping doesn't change, media cables are buried, spectator bench seating is operated to perfection, bathrooms are clean and well kept.

The gallery is respectful. It's mostly middle aged white dudes with a few wives scattered in. No LIV vibes. You yell out at a player and you are likely to be hauled off the course. That crap isn't gonna fly there, which is why I like it so much. No drunks like at the Super Bowl which is 30% people that are hammered.

The food is very well priced and the lines move quickly. Will it blow you away? For $1.50 - $2.50 per item, the answer is yes. If you were paying normal event pricing it wouldn't. But for so little $s, it's great. It's perfect for grabbing a quick bite to keep you ready to walk around the course, which is super hilly. Love the BBQ sandwiches, ham and cheese, egg salad, and Peach Ice Cream Sandwich. My family is southern but I hate pimento cheese. It's so gross. Others love it. Really can't go wrong.

The merchandise tent is where they crush you. I wouldn't say it's over priced. But it isn't cheap. I just got a few hats and shirts.

It's a special experience. I played mini-tour level pro. I'm biased towards golf because of that. But I'm still gonna lean towards Masters and British Open as the coolest spectator experiences I've ever had.

How does this "My Group" stuff work in the app? I added a bunch of players but it's not showing any of them even though they're all playing now.

Most things appear broken for feeds other than the hole 4, 5, 6 feed.

If I try to cast a feed like Featured Groups to my chromecast it just shows "feed will start soon" on the TV as if the feed hasn't started broadcasting yet, even though it's already broadcasting in the app.

Feeds other than 4, 5, 6 also won't go fullscreen on a tablet. It looks like this.

That's not to mention that whomever is controlling the featured groups feed is dumb as a rock. They have a group with Rory, Scottie, Xander and they've barely shown a shot of theirs. Meanwhile we've been watching Dunlap walk back and forth from his ball on the fairway to the green for about 4 consecutive minutes now.

They have one active feed called "Featured Group Plus". Ain't no way in hell I'm trying that

It's just the featured group feed with some trivia questions. So at least you have something to do while watching this Dunlap guy walk around for 6 minutes on the "featured" feed while Rory hits a 354 yard drive that you can't watch.

Crowd is very respectful. You can put some chairs down, go follow some golfers and come back to your seats. No running! The people in the first couple rows of 18 green are "fans and friends" that get into the course 30-60 mon before everyone else.
Every blade of grass is perfect, there are no weeds and leaves that fall on the fairways from the rain/winds will be gone for next round. Occasionally they will take the leaf blower and blow off the sand from the greens.
ETA: The will take the leaf blowers to clear the fairways and first cut it two of rough of any leaves too. It's pretty unusual to see all those leaves on the course but maybe it's too windy to blow any leaves today.

I couldn't imagine living on a golf course for 2-1/2 to 5 years just to see the Masters. That is Dedication!

It could be some residents but probably club members, friends/family of the club staff, PGA execs, players etc. A lot of the residents rent their homes out to players/families, companies sponsoring trips, etc...

Man....they better be paying Jason Day a LOT of money to wear those clothes.
My buddies and I looked into this. Apparently he's got a stake in the brand and did some of the designs himself.

Looks like what a 50 year old white guy would wear in 1998.
