The Must Win to Make Playoffs Thread (1 Viewer)

Footballguy Jr.
Starting a thread for owners who need a win in any of their leagues to make the playoffs. My situation is simple in one league, win and I'm in, lose and I'm done.

For others in similar situations, love to keep this thread rolling for strategy/decisions.

What do you need and what are your tough choices?

Tied for last spot. I must win- he must lose.

If Rodgers doesn't come back and both Tolzien AND Keenum get benched... :violin:

It is making the waiver wire submissions pretty interesting.

Should I pick up a guy like Benny Cunningham, so the guy I am neck and neck with (Stacy owner) doesn't get him.....Or, do I address my qb needs, Foles is on the wire and RG3/Ryan aren't instilling any confidence in me.

How is Foles still on the wire? Go get him if you can. The better strategy is having a potential qb1 for the playoffs.

Sitting at 6-6 and the last playoff spot (6) with the most points scored in the league. I have to win to stay in it, and I have Reed and RG3 on the team.

I'm seriously considering picking up Manuel v. ATL or Weeden v. Jax, or just praying that Cutler makes it back this week. I don't feel comfortable hitching my playoff hopes to RG3 after last night's game.

This is correct...

Bennie and Stacy will prob split carries in SF - Neither makes for a good option next week IMO. Regardless, you need Foles.

In 2nd because of points tiebreaker. I'm definitely in the playoffs, but would love to finish top 2 because there is a payout for regular season. I need to win and have the team in 3rd not outscore me by 16 points. My team was averaging 140/week through the 1st 9 weeks, but only 93/week the last 3 weeks. Hopefully I can hold off the team in 3rd. If the team currently in 1st loses and I win, I could get the #1 seed. I could either be #1 after this week or #5.

My big decisions for this week are 1) Cleveland or Arizona D and 2) Flex: Woodhead/Vereen/Allen.

I'm a Rodgers owner who has been treading water at QB since he went down (I actually traded for him the week he went down, I know "shirt"). But by some miracle, the Rivers owner dropped him and I now have Rivers to cover me. I'm feeling much better about my team going into the playoffs.

I need a win and the #2 guy to lose to get the bye. Legit shot too. I play 10th place and he plays first place.

The 5 seed is playing the 6 seed this week, I'm currently in 7th, but have outscored both of these teams by a lot. If I win, I move ahead of the loser for the last spot.

PPR League, 3 of these 4 are playing for me, need to sit one:

Ray Rice vs Pitt

Julius Thomas @ KC

Lev Bell @ Bal

Kendall Wright @ Indy

Who sits?

Slightly worried about JT status and if he makes it through the whole game.

If Thomas plays, I think you sit Rice. If Thomas is out, then it's pretty obvious.

Thomas plays Sunday afternoon - Pitt/Bal is Thursday.

Forgot about that. Wow. Gotta definitely keep an eye on Denver practice reports. If Thomas is practicing Wed/Thurs, I think you gotta play him. Rice has been hard to trust this year.

8-4 and stuck in 6th place, and it will take a miracle to nab one of the 4 playoff seeds. Basically need RG3 bounce back, and/or Aaron Rodgers to get well soon. Also, really could use Orange Julius back.

In another league, I'm 6-6 and need to win the next two and some help. My hopes all rest on Nick Foles, and I will never again trust Bobby Rainey or Ben Tate going forward.

I consider myself a longshot in both. Winning out the next two week is obviously a must.

I'm a shoo-in in most leagues, but the league I care about I need 4 guys to lose AND I need to win. All this being third in points scored but getting screwed on matchups....

Prime week 13 matchup in my big money league. 6 teams make the playoffs.

5th place and 6th place both sit at 6-6 and play each other. Winner of this matchup takes the 5 seed, the loser will most likely will finish on the bubble. If both the 7th and 8th place team lose, loser of the above matchup will lock up the 6 seed.

LOL, Foles is on the waiver wire, because I dropped him. Needed someone to start in place of RG3 on MNF and Foles has a bye....I also know that I will have a high waiver pick and have a good chance at getting him back. It is a 10 team league, and there are a lot of qbs on the wire.

I agree though, that I should pick him back up.

No drama with my 10-2 or 4-8 teams this week. Naturally, the league where I'm 7-5 is the one with only 4 playoff spots for 12 teams. Right now I need a win plus a loss by one of the two 8-4 teams (no chance of me catching the other one in points).

I've gotta fill one RB and one flex spot with some combination of Andre Brown, Sproles, Gonzo, and Cooper (it's PPR), and that's assuming Ivory's ankle sidelines him. Looks like I'll be about a push with my opponent, so it's tough to say I should either be focused on consistency or upside. Gah, I hate balanced rosters!

Also, what's everyone thinking about the Thanksgiving games? Thursday games in general tend to be fantasy quicksand, but Thanksgiving games the past few years have been shootouts (though with the obvious "small sample size" caveat). If it's down to two equal guys, do you lean towards the one playing on Turkey Day, away from him, or don't pay it any attention either way?

Had Rodgers, Been rolling with Luck...

Stick with Luck or go with Big Ben, Carson Palmer, or McCown?

Non-PPR, 12 team. I'm in 7th place, 1st in total points. Matchups have not been kind to me this year :shirt: Playing 10th place team this week though  6 teams make playoffs, first 5 spots are locked already.

6th place is 7-5, 7th (me) and 8th are 6-6. #8 plays #6 this week and 8 holds tiebreaker, so if 8 wins he's in. But I hold tiebreaker over both, so if I also win that spot is mine.

Have been using Stacy in the flex, grabbed Cunningham as a cuff, but I will probably flex Vereen this week. Need Luck not to suck too

8-4 and in 2nd place with highest points total in league. Top team is 9-3, another team is 8-4 and three teams are 6-6.

Bizarrely, I'd almost like to drop down to fourth place, cause the guy in first has been marred by injury of recent and his team is crawling to the playoffs now. Foster, James and now Stacy injured, he traded Moreno to me for Cameron who has stuttered. Has had other injuries I'm forgetting as well. Manning has kept him winning.

I have better matchups in week 16 than week 15, think he could be beaten in week 15 then I would most likely face the team currently in third in the final. Reckon me and that guy have the strongest teams.

I play the current 1st team in week 14 last game of regular season. Depending on situations with other teams, I might almost like to lose that game so I drop to fourth and get him again in week 15

I've got Lacy in a brutal road matchup @ Lions; Gronk needs to be super stud for me; Romo & Dez need to be numbers greedy for a change (seems Romo is just fine game managing, avoiding hits since signing that fat contract)

Deciding between Garçon & Keenan Allen for my WR2 spot. And then it'll be the odd man out of those two vs. Vernon Davis for a flex spot

Also starting Jets DST. They screwed me badly week 11, but at least they're home this week

Playing the top scorer, best record owner. Literally a must win. And I need to score well as total points scored will decide which out of a log jam of teams will get I to the playoffs

If Romo & Dez can put up end of 2012-type numbers, I have good shot. If they don't, no way I beat my opponent's Peyton/Shady/DeMarco Murray/Jordy Nelson/Panthers DST led team

14 Team League

I am 9-3 playing another 9-3 team to see who gets a 1st round bye. The 3rd 9-3 team should win their game.

We have 4 teams tied at 7-5 for the final 2 playoff spots. None of them play each other, but it will be a fun weekend of football for many in our league.

9-3 in FFWC but top two teams in points are 8-4 and I am playing the higher of the two (although only six points separate them)

Need to WIN to get $2500 for best record - also to prevent either of those teams from getting a sweep (best record AND most points team would collect both $2500 skins PLUS get $5000 for automatic league champ)

Will have tough decision for Flex spot depending on Stacy's status but they have a bad matchup @SF so will likely have to choose between Ellington or Justin Hunter (who I pickup tonight with most remaining FAAB$)

So at least I have most teams (even both the top points teams if they go bad) rooting for me

12 team league. Amazing parity.

1 team is 8-4

3 teams are 7-5

4 teams are 6-6

3 teams are 5-7

1 team is 4-8

Right now 6-6 and 7th place. Obviously I lose and I am out.

My RBs are: Stacy, L. Bell, Spiller, Mathews, Ogbonnaya

My WRs are: D. Jackson, Welker, Cruz and Douglas

I am thinking about starting those in bold. Thoughts?

Two of my leagues I'm 6-6. One league I need to win and have either of two particular teams lose. Other league I need a win and major help, too complicated to to list here. It looks like I'm gonna lose there anyways.
