The new Bourne film (1 Viewer)

I got annoyed with all the walking.  They'd cue up some dramatic music and you'd see Bourne walking for 3 seconds, an agent walking for 3 seconds, a hitman walking around the corner for 3 seconds, back to bourne for another 3 seconds, back to Agent K opening a door for 3 seconds, back to bourne jogging down some steps for 3 seconds, back to an agent walking through a crowd for 3 seconds, back to a hitman walking past a table for 2 seconds, back to Bourne staring blankly into space for 3 seconds.  This went on for what felt like an hour.

This movie focused (or tried ) on how Bourne got to where he was and that reveal falls flat.
The action is pretty standard and the ending doesn't make you WANT to see this series continue.

Stick to chick flicks

It was alright (for Bourne). Just being a Bourne film means you expect a little more. Most films I go to I
try not to anticipate too much. The bar is set high when it's a series like Avengers or Bourne. This one
doesn't clear it. It's pretty good but not "Yeah, you gotta go see it".

The 3rd one didn't do a lot for me or the story IMHO. I felt like that was it and I didn't even watch the Renner version although someone posted they liked it better, I might have to pull it up and watch but I can't imagine it being better than I and II.

I'll just share the little bit of Hollywood I know from my friendship with a casting director who worked at Paramount for many years before going out on her own, but these studios will be approached for a film project that is not likely to be a box office hit...maybe it's simply not a special effects driven film. The studio will tell Matt Damon, here's your $25M ear marked for that small film project and we would like for you to do another Jason Bourne film and here's $20M for the Bourne film and you do all the publicity tours for it when it is released...Damon agrees of course so I would expect him to be in some Oscar nominated film later this year or next, his reward for doing an action fim so he can get a shot at an Oscar worthy script.

Several in Hollywood do this once they have franchises in hand.

This was my exact thought about the movie.

I liked the Renner version, it's good.  May not be better then I and II but I think you won't be Disappointed.
Yeah, the big A-listers can get the studios to finance projects. The fading A-listers(Willis) still get some big
stuff but then they have to appear in some smaller budget movie.

Major disappointment compared to first three Damon movies. Tired rehash of previous scenes and situations. Joan Allen missed as well.

Stay home, you are not missing a thing.

Most annoying facet of this movie, completely unrealistic car chase with SWAT vehicle bulldozing dozens of cars and seemingly losing no momentum.

And car chase scenes are overdone as it is.

Just for comparison...

Bourne Identity(2002): $121.6M here and $214M Worldwide $60M Budget

Bourne Supremacy(2004): $176.2M and $288M Worldwide  $75M Budget

Bourne Ultimatum(2007): $227M and $442M Worldwide $110M Budget

You can understand why they might want to make a 4th installment of this...they did but Renner disappointed despite the film making money.

Jason Bourne Opening Weekend $60M and already $110M Worldwide. I don't think this will reach the heights of the 3rd installment which as I have said is not nearly as good as I and II imo..,

Not the best of the "Damon" Bourne movies, but still lights out better then the "knock off" Bourne movie..

One thing that has bugged me since the very first Bourne Movie...

When the photo's show up in the 1st one with the girl and him, he has her color and cut her hair... yet he walks around with no disguise what's so ever..

That always bugged me as well.   I mean, I get it... you don't hire Matt Damon to then have him dye his hair red and have a monster beard to disguise himself.

But it always felt unrealistic.

And I've never once seen the guy go to the bathroom or brush his teeth!  BS

First 4 Bourne Blu-rays $20 deal of the day on Amazon. I've never seen any of these movies. Worth it?
they are on cable all the time,  I'd DVR them, borrow them from a friend or find them on e-bay, get them copied from your local swap and shop or torrent them, or anything but buy them on blu ray

This and the assassin going from a head on collision with a concrete wall to sprinting up a dozen flights of stairs, a few buildings away, and sniping people in about 2 minutes.

Still enjoyed it though.

The CIA chick was hot, but clearly that's just ridiculous. Pam Landy should have been in that role....Hopefully, Borne hooks up with her next movie if there is one.

Based on the ending, has Damon agreed to do more of these?
He has left the door open.

Saw the film on Tuesday, It was OK, fun two hour entertainment, but unlike his prior three I won't buy it on DVD/Blue Ray. Will watch it again when it makes it to cable, but more as a diversion as to what I might be currently be doing at the time more than anything else.

I usually just wait for PPV or HBO for this sort of thing, but need a break from BS at work and life in general so going to a nice theater with recliners, gettin myself a bag of popcorn, a big ### Cherry Coke and will just zone out for a couple of hours.  Can't wait.

Worst of Damon's Bourne films.  Decent popcorn flick I guess.  I know we need to suspend some disbelief but its hard to sit there and ignore that the Government apparatus can use every camera on earth when it suits the movie's needs but then Bourne is strolling through airports and train stations without a care in the world and is never identified.  I hate picking nits but ### #### that's stupid.

It's so annoying when they title sequel movies like this.  I saw the first one and was trying to decide what move to watch yesterday and watched Bourne Ultimatum.  Now I'm all out of order.

Just got back from watching it and agree with all of this.

Also, I love how there's like every formulaic spy/action thriller cliche.... the big war room with lots of people scrambling around and computers and some big screens with all sorts of maps and data and stuff.  The super-graphical computer program that tells you exactly what you need to know ("LINKED TO JASON BOURNE").  Tons of dudes in suits (or London Fog jackets) with earpieces.  Plenty of black Chevy Tahoes.  Chicks in pantsuits, hair always tied back in a bun.  Visits to airport/train station lockers.  What's that you say, another guy talking into his jacket sleeve?  Sure, why not?

Suspend the disbelief, chalk things up to "because it's Jason Bourne", and it's a 7/10 rental.
