This guy has been overshadowed by another small-school prospect, the record-breaking David Ball. However, Price (Charleston Southern) has broken some records of his own...

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Nation's leading receiver, Maurice Price, announced Monday that he has decided to forgo his senior season and enter the NFL Draft. Price and fellow Buccaneer Collin Drafts are in California working out, having signedwith agent Bert Briones.Price led all of Division I football in receiving last year with 103 receptions, becoming just the seventh player in Division I-AA history to record more than 100 receptions in a single season. Over the past two seasons, Price ranks third in receiving, trailing only Davonne Bess (Hawaii) and David Ball (New Hampshire). His 175 receptions over that time rank him ahead of receivers such as Dwayne Jarrett (USC) and Calvin Johnson (Georgia Tech).During his three years at Charleston Southern, Price became the all-time leader, at CSU and in the Big South, in receptions and receiving yards. Price also set the League mark for games with at least 10 receptions, doing so in five contests. Following his outstanding junior campaign, Price was named to the Associate Press All-American team, The Sports Network All-American second-team, and was named to the College Sporting News Fabulous 50 FC All-Star team.Price has worked out just one weekend, but the 6-1.5, 196 pounder has already run a 4.4 40-yard dash, and had an impressive 11 foot broad jump.

Someone is going to have to convince me that UNH wasn't a run-n-shoot offense that just racked up numbers. That's the impression I'm getting so far.

Sorry if I led you to believe that both Ball and Price were on UNH... they are both in D1AA is what I meant...FWIW I've seen UNH play, and although it's a spread offense, it's mostly run through Ball, so it's not as if Santos is throwing the ball 50 times a game.Ball is strutting his studd in the All Star practices from what I've heard from Bloom and Lammey, but we've yet to hear anything on Price.

ah , my bad - I read it too fast it would seem.I was about to go :banned: on two D1-AA WRs from the same school. That'd be a hype machine cranked by June Jones if there ever was one....

Cecil and I have identified another small school WR to watch who had a terrific practice today, and like Colston last year, showed flashes of NFL quality talent... we'll highlight him on the day two audible and overview for the shark pool. Cecil got an interview today and the WR actually said "Thank you Marques Colston for opening the door for guys like us."

It's going to be a blast watching teams fish for "the next" in Fantasy Drafts in 2007! Colston was a WW pickup in most leagues, and finding "the next" is about alot more than talent...

Colston was an aberation - there might enver be another rookie WR to go 7th round and shine his first season.

though hank Baskett IMO could of this season if given a chance

4.4 40 and 11' broad jump are legit numbers if accurate. That doesn't mean this guy can play football though. There are lots of Ryan Hoags out there.
