Mayock mocked Sony Michel to us.  I actually would love to see him a Steeler.

I'd have no problem with that except that it would assuredly mean that all hope of securing a long-term deal with Bell is lost.  I mean, I assume that to already be the case, as does most of the media, but I'm an eternal optimist.  Until that 7/16 deadline passes, I'm going to hold out hope.  Unless, of course, they draft Michel or Guice in round 1.  Then it's over.

"Steelers 'listening to offers' for Martavis Bryant

The noise around the Martavis Bryant situation with the Steelers has died down since October, when Bryant’s trade demands became public. But with one year left on his contract, Bryant is still hoping to find a situation that gives him a chance to function as a team’s No. 1 option, Dan Graziano of ESPN reports.

That’s not going to happen with Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell in Pittsburgh, obviously, and Pittsburgh has been quietly listening to offers over the past couple of months. Part of the holdup has been that some of the league’s more receiver-needy teams, such as Baltimore and New England, are rivals to whom the Steelers wouldn’t want to trade such a talented player. Pittsburgh is a win-now team that believes Bryant can help it win in 2018, so the offer has to be good.

It would be kind of hilarious if the Steelers ended up in a similar scenario to a handful of years ago. We offer a huge contract to 1 player, they scoff at it, we offer it to a different player and it works out just fine. Bell walks, Bryant gets big contract, doubt it happens but he could definitely develop into a great WR.

Tonight I'm just hoping we get a top 4 ILB. I know the odds are slim with how many teams in front of us have need at ILB, but maybe they'll all go QB/OL/WR or something and 1 falls to us. I have a sinking feeling that someone is going to fall to us at 28 that I really like, and the Steelers pass to take a RB or something not worth a 1st rounder.

I truly believe that ship has sailed.   The Steelers made him a very legitimate offfer and Bell not only refused it but upped his asking price.   Bell has every right to get as much as he can and I do not hold that against him but I don't see the Steelers coming up with that dough and Bell hasn't shown any willingness to budge.   I think this is end of Bell era in PIttsburgh.

I'm with you 1080.   I would really like the Steelers use at least 2 of the top 3 picks on LB and/or DB.  If they want to take a RB or WR with their 2nd or 3rd that is fine but I really think we should focus on defense and make a serious run in 2018 and worry about the future later.

If you were a team interested in Bryant how much are you really going to give up, maybe a 5th round pick?   For that the Steelers are better off keeping him.

There is 1 thing that has me maintaining hope. I think that Bell loved not having to come in to training camp last year. He can wait until TC is over and sign a long term contract then. If the Steelers take a RB in the first 3 rounds, he's gone. If he plays on the Franchise tag, he's gone. But until that happens, I'll maintain hope.

No he can't.  If no long term agreement is reached by 7/16, he either has to play on the tag or not play.  He doesn't get paid until he signs it and reports.

Packers have 12 picks and need a speedy WR.  Sending a couple picks to the Steelers for Bryant would make sense

Ed Bouchette's 2018 NFL first-round mock draft

Eddie has the Steelers taking Leighton Vander Esch, says they're not worried about the neck.
I believe they'd be interested, and like him as a pick, but I don't think there's any chance in hell he falls.  Sure, some teams have him off the board entirely, but the closer it gets to draft time, the more the rumors are circulating that the teams who haven't scratched him off are regarding him as some kind of generational talent.

It would be really great if he falls in their laps.

I'm curious to see where they go if both Vander Esch and Evans are gone at 28. Hopefully not Michel.

So...who we rooting for?

:bag:
This is the first time in a long time that I don't really have a specific player in mind. I think there are a lot of different ways to go and that they should go BPA (with a few exceptions.) OT or 5-tech end would surprise me but anywhere in the back 8 on defense, a WR, a RB, a TE, even a QB would be OK with me (to varying degrees.)

Well I also want better help in the secondary.  We really need a receiver but I don't know if DJ Moore is worth a #1.  Ridley isn't going to be out there.

Really what I want is someone to replace James Harrison.  Not the player but the person.  We need a player that isn't afraid to slap some of those players who put that gutless performance against the Jags in the playoff

Well now DJ Moore has to be the pick.

Shocker that the Bryant is a Raider.  Talk about a perfect fit
