2025 Philadelphia Eagles - West Coast offense, Run and Shoot offense, Narcoleptic offense, in that order. (30 Viewers)

Do you want a great example of how bad the OC is? Listen to Dickerson’s comments post game about Dallas using 5 man fronts.

Dallas just used these same fronts against the Raiders.
They talked about this on the radio today. The pregame show was talking about how they expect the Cowboys to use and extra Dlineman and the broadcast listed the extra DT in their starting lineup introductions. Like, how does the broadcast know what kind of Defense the Cowboys are bringing and the OC/HC don't even really see it. Did they even look at film for this game?

FFS heads should roll with **** like this.

Going through the play by play, no wonder their offense stalled. They threw on nearly every first down. Were behind the chains all second half.
Maybe you checked the wrong game?

After they went up 21-0

-First snap of the next drive is a Barkley 2 yard run

-After half it’s an 8 yard pass. Next play goes for 20 but illegal formation

-Next drive opens with a Barkley 1 yard run

-Next drive opens with another Barkley 1 yard run

-Next drive after Dallas scores to make it 21-14 is a 10 yard pass by Hurts for a first down. Next play is a Barkley 1 yard run.

-After Dallas ties it we get a 7 yard Hurts run, 19 yard Hurts pass. Drive ends with a Barkley fumble

-Next and last drive is an 11 yard pass and a 16 yard pass.

3rd quarter:

1st drive - pass, pass pass

Tank Bigsby. 18 carries, 164 yards, 9.1 yards per rush!
context matters
Yes, but mixing him in couldn't hurt. Barkley just isn't getting it done, OL aside. Right?
maybe, maybe not. The comp to Gainwell last year isn't a very good one because Saquon was having success. Mixing Gainwell in here and there to spell Saquon and give the defense a different look to deal with was easy. My only point is that I keep hearing that they should run more Tank! He's got 9.1 ypc! but the reality is that when they run a draw on 2nd and 20, they aren't facing a stcked box; they are going against a defense keen on stopping a 21 yard pass. In those scenarios it behooves the defense to give up a twelve yard run. You can't look at that small sliver of evidence and make the leap that Bigsby would do any better than Saquon in normal running situations.

And while I do think that Saquon has lost something, IMO he is not getting it done because
a. the oline is playing poorly, whether due to constant injury (Lane, Cam)
b. downgraded personell (Becton last year, Steen this year has been a catastrophe)
c. previously great players simply playing badly (Mailata has a local radio show where week in and out he very plainly admits to playing very badly).

I’m not trying to be a **** and i apologize if im coming off that way. I think we’re at the stage where the over analyzing is coming in. Everyone is searching for the hidden gem because the obvious reason has been beaten to death.

When you have time, go to the 2023 thread and start at like page 71-72. You’ll see the parallels with the knowledge of how 2024 played out.

They have to be tipping the plays, either formation or something. And getting to LOS with 10secs left isn’t ideal either
They’re not tipping plays per se. Teams have tendencies and with each passing week they’re more and more telling. Good/great coaches are also good/great at scouting themselves and beating their own tendencies. Example being they’ll show you a look they know you’ve seen 20-30x and instead of pulling for a run they’ll pass etc. The OC is taking so long to get plays in because he has no idea what to even call most times.

Here’s a sad but true stat for the Eagles in 2025:

The Eagles have scored seven points or less in an entire half in eight of their 11 games played.

Eagles are 4-3 over the last 7 games. That feels so weird to say.

Who is going to take it from them? That's what I am wondering.

I completely get that they aren't looking great. Are the Rams the favorite? I'm not seeing a team of destiny out there.
Rams are definitely more balanced than the Eagles right now. I still think the Eagles can right the ship because our defense can be elite but I'd say the NFC is Rams then Eagles, Lions, Seahawks, Packers right now.

Yep. Just gives you an idea of what we have. He is absolutely lost. You can’t all of a sudden turn lemons into lemonade. You have to hide him.

Thanks for the thought out reply. I'm not going to say much other than maybe/maybe not- is the jist of what we don't know. Bigsby has had success before joining Philly. On a bad team with OL issues as well. Might be time to open the Mystery Box. It might even be a #2RB!

Yeah, I'm not saying bench Barkley and make Bigsby the bell cow, but mix it up a little. Throw both guys in the backfield. Put a WR back there to try and get a LB matchup. It feels like the movie "Idiocracy" where Luke Wilson is taking the IQ test and the two guys next to him are trying to put round blocks into square holes. One side is Kevin Patullo and the other side is Nick Sirianni.

You agree that it’s completely unreasonable to think he will continue to get 9 ypc. Right? I’m all for trying new things and maybe he will provide a spark. I think it’s highly unlikely that he does much better than Saquon has been, his six Carrie’s in third and really long notwithstanding.

High level defense and not turning the ball over.

Had we not turned the ball over against Dallas that’s another messy win IMO

Hurts throwing the ball 39 times is not a recipe for this team to win. Especially when you had a big lead. Run the damn ball.
I’ve said for awhile hurts needs to stay in the 25 attempts maybe 30 max range with a few designed carries. Run the ball the other times

Have you seen us try to run the ball? We get like 1 yard runs constantly. Thatz no bueno
this. It's hard to run when every time you DO run it's for 2 yards

correct. we were NOT behind the chains because of the pass plays. We were behind the chains because the run plays they did call were woefully ineffective and every single drive had a penalty setting it back. YOu can't overcome 1st and 20, 2nd and 15 every drive.
