Awesome. Until you go on vacation.
Why is that? They freak out at doggy boarding?
A friend had a boxer that was the most loving dog ever. He loved to be next to people constantly and to get pet all the time. The dog had serious separation anxiety. My friend couldn't leave it in the backyard when he left for work, it would escape every time. The dog couldn't be left in the house either, it would bust out windows. This was 20 years ago before crating was a thing around here, I can only imagine the injuries that dog would have given itself trying to escape a crate.

I think dogs are cool but I'm about to retire and have no desire to own one. We get stuck watching my adult kid's dogs from time to time and it is a pain in the butt

If I could afford it, I'd buy 50 acres, fence it in and adopt 100 dogs..
At one point we had a sheltie, a beagle, a Mutt(Irish setter, lab) and 2 cats and I still would have had more dogs if I had the room and :moneybag:
You sound like my wife. 4 dogs, 4 cats, 4 birds, a rabbit, and our (adult) son has 4 or 5 reptiles. One dog has died, birds have all finally died, rabbit died. She wants more and I'm like "I need a break!" If I'd let her we'd have way more. "Can I get a pig?" "Can I bring this poor 3 legged dog home?"
