The Official Glad I got Directv Thread (1 Viewer)

Been spending a ton for Directv for years like me?

Well finally it's all worth it, Thursday Night Football, god Bless.

Gotta move out to "the sticks" like me. We have two cable providers in our area and neither of them carry NFL Network. You go with Direct TV or you don't watch the games in these parts. No other choice..."LEGAL" choice, I mean. :sadbanana:

How ironic. I've been complaining about the lack of US sports coverage here in Canada for years. I've got 2 options to watch tonights game in Vancouver

1) NFL Network

2) TSN (ESPN's Canadian sister) in HD.

Gotta love HD.

I'm glad I got DTV because:

a) I can watch games in HD

b) With Superfan pkg, I've watched every NFL game through week 11 (yah, haven't caught up yet :D ) and I can watch two NFL games in the time my wife watches some idiot box show. Especially useful when giving the baby a bottle.

c) NFL Channel is in HD

Cox Cable has it in both SD and HD.

Although my local Cox doesn't carry Fox or ABC in HD because of a ridiculous contract fight that does nothing but alienate customers from all sides.

Hey its all good though cause Cable doesn't offer Sunday Ticket..and that is the Holy Grail of TV ....even over HDTV! :stirspot:

Isn't there something online you can watch it on?
edited:Sopcast.com

Download sopcast 1.0.1

Then go to http://streamednfl.blogspot.com

Once you get to the second website, pick today's game and then pick sopcast broadcast.
I got an error saying Windows Player could not play the file. I closed that error box and the SopCast window acts like it is loading (buffering, etc) but the picture is not showing up. Any ideas?

Must be something with my computer then. I closed it and waited, etc. It says Windows Player can't play the file. May be corrupted, etc. Usual error message.

Uh, NFL Network is on cable too.
oh, my bad then...I always read about guys complaining about cable not having NFL network. What do I know.Sorry Mods.
I think Time Warner cable subscribers are screwed but Comcast is on board.
Charter guys are screwed too. :kicksrock:TG for SopCast.
DId you ever encounter a Windows Player error? That the file is corrupted of the Windows Player does not support it?

No problems yet. I use the SopCast player, not Win Media.

It should not be openned by windows media playergo here

http://www.sopcast.com/player look OK?

then click on NFLNetwork on the right

Comcast here. The program guide says the game should be on INHD2. Instead, some crappy 50s movie is on that channel. Standard NFL Network for me.

Same thing. Except there is not a small window opening up. I see the page you sent me, I clicked on the channel to the right, and then the little tv there starts to load (buffer) and a small error window opens up:Windows Media Player can not play the file. The file is either corrupt or the Player does not support the format you are trying to play.

 Any idea?

sorry so late a reply. I don't really understand how this could happen as I'm not a programmer for programs just know website stuff. See normally from the Sopcast program there's a box you click on and that opens into Window Media if you prefer that over the sopcast player. I know when you install a program it associates file types with the new program.

(Suppose)If sopcast is .sop and mfl's gameday is .flm and draftdominator is .dd(all weird types) your computer learns it's associated with those programs. I do not recall being prompted if I'd like to associate different filetypes with Sopcast.

I'd try uninstall, reboot computer, reinstall.

If you DON'T get prompted look in Windows Media Player preferences and see if you don't see a checkbox with something like "associate all video files with WMP". You likely want alot of programs associated with it but not all. If not, maybe it's in IE's advanced settings?

**Hopefully someone can follow me up here
