The OUT Due to COVID List: PLAYOFF EDITION (Save your szn thread) (2 Viewers)

What a joke this league is. Now they start moving games, as if that's going to make any real difference. All it does is sets a precedent that will no doubt be broken later.

The 3 games being moved to Monday-Tuesday created far worse issues if you are in a league that does not allow FCFS waivers. At least if your player tests positive Sunday you usually have some protection but that's far less likely on say Tuesday.

Waivers will run on Tuesday night like normal (For the VAST majority of leagues). No issues there. Can still pick up players that haven't played... tuesday is handled just like MNF. Not sure what the issue is?

Just roll with the changes. It doesn't matter how unfair any of this seems. Pay attention and put out the best lineup you can considering the current situation.  It's times like this that grinders are at their best.

Wow, you think all leagues operate on the same waiver schedule.

Yahoo, CBS, and ESPN all default to Tuesday Waivers IIRC. I've played in all 3. I'm aware there are lots of other sites but if you listen to any fantasy football podcasts or subscribe to any FFL websites they all write/speak/operate under the premise of a Tuesday night waiver basis.

All leagues? Of course not.

The VAST majority that run waivers? Yes.

Edited my post to clear up any mis-communication.

Only 2 of my 5 leagues run on that schedule. JMO, err, experience.

This thread should be retitled and repurposed to say who is IN this week. Holy whatchumanugget, Batman. I don't even understand people asking questions out there like would you start player x over player y this week. I'm like, are they active? Yeah? Then they're in. 2021 is really something else.

And people will finally see that he's the second banana at RB now.
I don't have a lot of room in my lineups for picking and choosing based on preference, unfortunately. Even if you're wrong I can't really play him with it being a Tuesday game. If we had word Sunday I'd consider it but my seemingly endless well of RBs is just not there in some spots. Might throw Hendo in there regardless. Bleak.

It’s an odd dynamic for sure. I was waiting on DK news deciding between him and AJGreen. At this point if you have a guy who is absolutely starting Sunday, you almost have to go with it.

on RtSports the  waivers that run on Tuesdays will not run.....In order for waivers to run at all the commishs must adjust till later if they are scheduled to run Tuesday.

as anyone who uses them to host already knows, Yahoo will run waivers one day later (Wednesday night-Thursday morning.)

typically around 3:30am EST Wednesday so this week it'll be 3:30am EST Thursday.

insomniacs & second shift workers have until roughly 2am (ish) to submit claims.

I stopped updating this post however the link in that post continues to be a good resource for the latest additions or removals from the Reserve COVID-19 List

Fantasy Alarm Covid list

What would be nice to know is if there is a chance a player returns or if there is no chance based upon being vax'd or not, health status, negative test, and if another negative they can play? What's up with all these players from Baker to Lockett to Waddle and everyone. This way we could imply a certain strategy moving forward vs having to drop a player or two that we really don't need to.

running waivers Tuesday is silly, should be moved to Wednesday. Absolute garbage to run waivers including players who havent even finished the previous weeks games

MOST of my leagues running Tuesday at least do it in the middle of the night (so actually on Wednesday)

great argument for an injury sub rule, which I fight for in every league every year

Noticing D Henderson still on the list. Has there been any info on his availability this week?

On twitter I see mostly people complaining about the lack of info on him. Looks like a GTD

You won't get any info on him via an injury report because he's not been able to test out of COVID IR but even with that we've not got one of those "he's trending up" quotes about him. Probably safe to assume the injury that held him out earlier has healed but we'd all be guessing.

If Rams played tomorrow he'd be as good as out but has a chance as was mentioned earlier in this thread to play now it's Tuesday.

I've said a few times I think Sony will be 1A for ROS but put that aside for a moment  or assume I'm wrong and let's just say the  Rams goal is to have Henderson return as the 1A.  I still would try hard to find an alternative as he's been out of practice all week, and just trust me when I say that's not a small thing to the Rams. Since it's taken him awhile to test out of COVID he might  legit have had  COVID symptoms like an Amari Cooper were it's messing with his conditioning. If you want to optimistic you could say the two games off after his biggest workload of his career might help him down the stretch and I'd not say that's a bad thought, just that I would not expect that to pay dividends until week 16.

I'll never see this but for years I've wanted a one lineup correction spot to cover for when that guy on your bench has a monster game or when one of your key players goes down early in the game. Obviously we have Best Ball but I'd love to see a format that basically  optimized just  ONE spot in your lineup.

What are the chances any of these games are actually forfeited?

Does anyone know if there are current rules for this I couldn't find any. Something like if a team has x amount of players on the covid list they cannot play.

Great news. Starting tomorrow the NFL is expected to stop testing for COVID unless you self report symptoms. The only caveat in this is I don't know if it applies to unvaccinated.

I also don't have any idea yet if this changes the status of current asymptomatic players who are positive for this weeks games.

But at a minimum this means we won't be dealing with this kind of thing again for ROS, not this kind of magnitude anyway. Also means if you were on the fence about starting a player that plays M-Tues this week if that player is vaccinated your concern level should drop to near zero.

ETA- I just found answers to the two things I questioned.

Un-vaccinated players still have to do daily testing.

These changes will go into place for next weeks games, not the rest of games for this week. I still don't know if that means vaccinated players playing Monday and Tuesday have to get tested each day.

***one more edit***  while daily testing for vaccinated  players is going away it remains that  players are also subject to target testing if deemed a close contact. Of course because we will have way less positive COVID test results it also means we will have considerably less close contacts to test.

Mulligan League

Pretty amazing change in the league Covid testing (agreed upon by the NFL and NFLPA).

So, basically, it's not that they care about player safety on any level.  It's just the message that this show will go on, no matter what because now, in order to sidestep public perception and their own established rules on Covid and exposed players, they simply say the vaccinated people don't count anymore.  Regardless of the fact that the vaccinated people can and do still get it and spread it to other players and the public in general.

The unvaccinated players in the eleague have until Monday afternoon to opt out for the rest of the year (without pay, of course).

This will undoubtedly lead to fewer cases reported (but not fewer cases) and will lead to increased risk with less data to trace.

I guess I'm not surprised the NFL did this.  I'm just surprised they put it in writing.

Great news indeed.  Now you’ll be hard pressed to find anyone who admittedly has symptoms. COVID is over in the NFL

Roethlisberger self reported and some players will have obvious symptoms detected. Also unvaxed have to continue daily testing and NFL will do some spot testing for close contacts.

So while I wish COVID was over in the NFL, it's still lingering but thankfully with a much smaller impact.

It will linger for sure but COVID as we knew it in sports is essentially over with this agreement. A larger percentage of cases will be gone. It’s only a matter of time before other sports implement this as well.

Chargers placed Austin Ekeler on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Center Corey Linsley and defensive end Joey Bosa were both added to the list as well. The Athletic's Daniel Popper added that there are more players to come. The NFL's recently updated COVID rules allow vaccinated players to return more quickly but this is still a bad sign for any of these players being able to suit up in Week 16. The only good news is that the Chargers face Houston in the coming week. As long Justin Herbert is under center, they'll be favored over the lowly Texans. If Ekeler is out, Justin Jackson would take over as the team's lead back. With Ekeler banged up in Week 15, Jackson led the Chargers with 13 carries for 86 yards. Joshua Kelley saw seven carries in that game and would have some deep FLEX potential as the lesser half of LA's backfield-by-committee.

I suppose the reality of the situation is that the fantasy world we now live in you must have depth to survive COVID.  The days of just having a stud lineup with no depth is over if you hope to survive a fantasy football season.

0 of my 84 leagues that I played in this year ran waivers on Tuesday.  All 84 ran on Wednesday.  I would hate to be in a league that ran on Tuesday there isn't even enough info by Wednesday.

he’s got about 49 minutes to test negative & hop on a private jet

otherwise it’s Garrett Gilbert time

Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, Valdes-Scantling, Higbee, and possibly Ekeler (that one is fuzzy).  I read that Kelce is vaccinated and could possibly be cleared before Sunday.  I don't know about the rest.

You guys might want to sit down for this, but Cole Beasley has apparently tested positive for covid-19.

Now, I know you're probably thinking "How did this happen?"  But remember, it's an infectious disease and sometimes even the best among us is forced to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune.
I've seen the horrors of Covid up close in my own family and wouldn't want that outcome for anyone, so I absolutely wish Beasley a mild case and a speedy recovery. Still, I'd be lying if I said there isn't the tiniest part of me that's walking around humming this song.
