The OUT Due to COVID List: PLAYOFF EDITION (Save your szn thread) (4 Viewers)

Hospitalization rate is dramatically higher for non vaxxed as well. Very few vaccinated people are requiring hospital care compared to non vaxxed.
I can confirm this based on up close observation (ICU RN) (For those of you who automatically distrust every bit of data from the CDC or government as a whole)

@Soulfly3 could we get an update on the thread title please? maybe add Playoff Edition or something similar

_______________

Is it just me or are the a boatload of additions to the Covid list the last 10 days or so?

Readying through that FFPC thread, Ivfeel like I need to be hyper aware of which franchises (CLE, DET, LAR, PHI….who else?) have a mini outbreak happening rn. Just to kind of clue us in….

”OK, there are 8 playerss on the Covid list for team & I have a starter there, so what’s my plan B?”

I looked for a current list but could only find comprehensive, e.g., I don’t need to know who tested positive in August. Any good resources?

If we wanna crowd source this, I can tell you the Lions have 8 on the Covid list - 7 from the active roster and 1 practice squad.

This could be the most important thread for the playoffs.

Schefty tweeted last night that the list had grown to 75. Only other info I saw was that WASH got nailed on the defensive side of the ball.

Those who act quickly based on news today will have an advantage.

My sleeperbot is set to ON.

Ton of key Browns players on the list that now includes the coach.

Covid running rampant.  Maybe they need to postpone this entire weeks slate of games.  Or maybe they think it makes for compelling TV to see scrubs playing.  Who knows.

I thought Washington was supposed to be fully vaxxed.  Or was it that Rivera was upset because they weren't after he had cancer?

Judging by preseason rankings hard to make a case they are wrong.

The fact this game sits alone on the Saturday afternoon TV slot I'm sure is making the NFL want this game to continue as regularly scheduled more then they normally would, but I would not disagree that since COVID started no game deserved to be delayed more then this one.

The season is winding down. I think they need to isolate the players. They're catching it from friends and family. Then it's spreading in the locker room.  Separate those who tested positive, and then have the team and staff stay away from all outside contact. 3-4 more weeks until most teams are finished.

I thought the NFL made the decision to not postpone any games this season.  If a team can't field a team, they would forfeit.  Or am I wrong about that?

This is good idea because contact tracing has shown most people are catching it away from the facility. I recall last year the Cowboys informally did this which for them is incredibly easy since the hotel is attached to their team facility.

The other suggestion is a bit more radical but would be even better IMO and it's as simple as allowing non-symptomatic COVID positive players to play.  Contact tracing has shown that on the field transmission is almost non-existent. This IMO is the best move going forward, either this season or upcoming.

I recall something of that nature, I was just not sure if I remembered if the NFL absolutely ruled out a postponement but I recall forfeit and loss of pay for both teams being one of the hammer's they used to try and get teams compliant.

" In light of the substantial roster flexibility in place for the 2021 season, absent medical considerations or government directives, games will not be postponed or rescheduled simply to avoid roster issues caused by injury or illness affecting multiple players, even within a position group"

So yea, no postponing because you have to play scrubs.  If you straight up cant field a team, and its because you have unvaxxed players, you forfeit (since we're past the bye weeks they're screwed)

And lose pay regardless of who's "fault" it was. Good luck enforcing that.

A vast majority of these players are vaccinated.

A vast majority of these players are vaccinated.
While that is true the NFL is between a rock and a hard place.

There are no more bye weeks to maneuver and if you delay the game until Monday or Tuesday you have no way of knowing how many players will test negative then.  It is conceivable you could be in worse shape.  Or what if they delay until Tuesday, the Browns get players back but the Raiders now have 8 guys out.

They really have 2 choices:  play the game as schedule or push the whole season back but the problem then is how many weeks do you do that for?  The situation is getting worse, not better.

I agree. They backed themselves into this corner. They have no choice but to play them with practice squad players.

I do not agree they are between a rock and hard place.  Stick to the rules that were laid out before the season and dont change them up when adversity strikes.

I’m old enough to remember when the discussion was weather or not draft unvaccinated players

oops

They need to allow vaccinated asymptomatic players to play.  There is zero evidence they pass the virus on the playing field.

Could be anything and probably is something else, have not heard it was COVID at all, but odd and worth watching that both Fournette and ROJO are not at practice and Fournette is apparently at home tweeting about how to play a video game as practice is currently on-going.

Seems like a liability nightmare tho. You let someone knowingly with the virus contact people, its a can of worms. You have coaches and staff, someone might have an immunocompromised family member at home... Regardless of the arguing over the risk or not, thats a scenario I am sure the NFL has no wish to be involved in.

Reading through this thread I thought I was going to pull up the list and see Jonathan Taylor, Jamar Chase, etc.

Baker Mayfield is probably the most fantasy relevant player on the list.  I think we'll all be okay.

What is the difference between a vaccinated player with Covid and an unvaccinated player with Covid.

The answer is there is no difference.

Once you have Covid, you have Covid.   Being vaccinated changes nothing about transmission.

Knew my madden skills would eventually pay off on the field.

Thank you. There's about three guys on the list who actually effect the games at this point in the year.   Are we really upset about a team's 4th string tackle being unable to play?

We’re really not out of the woods on impactful players until their actual gamedays.

True for the moment.

My point in bumping this is so we can track which teams are seeing an uptick. If a team has 8-12 on the Covid list and you have a player on that team, might be worthwhile to consider if you could find some contingency options.

Beyond the breakout going on rn throughout the league, this inspired me to think about if I need a Plan B for any of my guys.

Maybe Chubb is affected?

Starting OT and both OGs out and the QB is out.

He will be force fed but id assume he will be the focal point for the raiders D and they have backup OL in there.

Agree but we got to keep in mind that it's not as simple as the NFL snapping their fingers and making this the new policy, they need the backing of the NFLPA.

On that note we may be moving to our desired goal but it's likely to come in steps. Albert Breer has been tweeting the league and union are in talks today on significant changes and one of those thing being discussed was altering the 10 day waiting period for asymptomatic positive players. Maybe I'm reading this wrong but that sounds to me like they are starting to open up to the idea of allowing positive testing players to take the field.

Just noticed that Kamara is now on the Covid list.

(LB Sam Kamara - Bears)

Along with NT Goldman, DB Burns, and DE Edwards. Cook should run free Monday night.
