I don't know if the Patriots figured it out or not but bringing in the guy (McDaniel) in to "help" out with the offense smells pretty bad to me.
The Patriots did not bring in McDaniel to help out the Patriots offense. They brought him in as a consultant to help the Patriots defense out. Was the move legal? I don't know. But, to bring a coach into the fold in the divisional playoff round that was not on the team previously just does not seem right.

they figured the offence out by scoring 45 points. Same thing they did week 15. They buried the Broncos and the Broncos o doesn't have the ability to come back. If anyone wants to see how a defensive scheme completely stopped the offence, cue KC week 17.

Then why bring him in during the first game of the playoffs and put him in the booth? He hasn't been with the New England offense in a few years either. Everyone knows the deal about this. It wasn't against the rules, but it will be by next season. I can say it's consistent with Bill's behavior, though.

The Broncos aren't anywhere near married to this offense. The offense they ran was simply their best way to win games THIS season. They'll always keep some of it due to Tebow's dynamic running ability, but as he progresses as a passer, the Broncos will open it up.
I was very impressed with Mike McCoy. As Tebow gets more consistent to go along with his many attributes, & as the Broncos gain better personnel, not to mention having a young All-Pro type talent at WR in Demaryius Thomas, this offense is going to get VERY hard to defend. Their offense is going to be much different than what you see now.
In short, Denver did what they had to do in 2011. They came a long way & had a fine season. That said, their offense will be much more refined & dangerous in future seasons.

Absolutely agree. Kudos to the Den coaching staff to work with what they had in the limited time they had with the midseason QB flip. Losing Dawkins really hurt their defense though. False start penalties are cheating if you want to look at it that way.
Why not create a holy storm when a cb drags down a wr just to stop him from catching a pass.

This thread is horrible but "recording another team practice is not cheating" is an incorrect statement and the Patriots were fined heavily for it. Players/teams are not fined for false start penalties. Not that any of that had anything to do with last night, which was just a good old drubbing.

This offense should evolve into a true spread as Tebow improves and they get better receivers. They will be able to spread teams wider, and the Pat's scheme of 7 in the box with the ends wide will get gashed by the run when the safeties can't play as tight.

They brought McDaniels in before the Broncos/Steelers game. I don't think it smells nearly as fishy considering they're losing their OC and McDaniels is the perfect fit at OC there. Does anyone really think McDaniels wasn't one of the real options they were considering to replace O'Brien?

People get their panties in such a wad over Belichick. It is ignorant to think that hiring McDaniels had that much to do with them stopping Denver last night. Saying so downplays the preparation of the other coaches on that team. They just played the Broncos a few weeks ago and have that to go on along with a couple other def. really taking it to Denver in the last couple weeks. End of story. Like other great teams in the league they learn from their mistakes and will adjust accordingly. Getting a couple Def. players back healthy doesn't hurt either.

What a high horse you're on. Was the guy who quit still with the team or did he leave? Yeah, no reason for McDaniels to be anywhere near the team this year. Coaches contracts need to e set up that they cannot coach until the end of the season especially if they were on another team during the year.

I don't have a problem with the pats hiring McD. I think that's smart management on belichicks part in establishing and maintaining continuity. As far as McD having any insight to the Broncos - that's hogwash. When asked, John Fox said he didn't care because coaches all talk to each other anyways....it's not like he didn't just get off the phone with Rex Ryan for any insight in stopping the Pats. it's not like Belichick wold have gleaned anything that he wouldn't have with a simple phone call.
