my simple analysis: they got brooks to fill a need now. he is servicable. the raiders have much more pressing needs, especially on defense. with a healthy moss, healthy porter, healthy jordan and now the free agent QB they wanted, why would they draft a QB in the first round for potential 2-3 years down the road...maybe leinart if he falls because he's more refined and a more prototypical pocket QB (and reminds many of ken stabler), but young will need some work and, IMO, doesn't necessarily equate to NFL QB...too much risk IMHO...

i see them going hawk or huff on defense. rebuilding your defense around the safety position or going with players who have demonstrated leadership will help fill two voids....

Hey red,As long as Al Davis is calling the shots, the Raiders can never be accused of letting logic or holes get in the way of one of Davis' infatuations.

I wholeheartedly believe that if Vince Young is available at 7, the Raiders grab him. If, on the other hand, Young goes to Tennessee at 3, the Raiders will look at another position.

I have to agree with this, as if young is there, they will grab him.I know they have other holes, but the chance to get a guys who MIGHT be a franchise qb for years is much to good to pass up for Al.

As a Raider faithful, the pick would not bother me at all, even with the other holes on D.

I agree. VY is the only QB they covet, if he is not available at the 7 pick then Huff will be their guy. Think the only question is will they trade up to the #2 spot to grab VY?
