The Rams OC should have been canned (1 Viewer)

First a disclaimer:

I do not own Steven Jackson in any league, nor did I have any money on the Rams/Falcons game.

On to my point:

How do you have the ball, 2nd and goal at the 2 with the game on the line and make sure that one of the best RBs in the game (Mr. Jackson) never touches in the ball on eihter 2nd or 3rd down??? Instead you opt to let your ROOKIE QB try to win the game for you?? Predictably, he throws an INT. The Rams deserve to lose, if their OC is going to call moronic plays like that.

Sometimes I think these guys try to hard, when the answer is fairly simple.

At 4-5 they weren't even playing for a draft pick!

I do own Jackson, but I have noticed this peculiar play calling on more than one occasion this year as well. Could just be my own bias though I suppose.

What game was it where there was a questionable no-TD call and the commentators were talking about challenging, yada yada, but the team just lined up on the 1, ran the ball straight ahead, and plowed in for the easy TD? I think it might have been the Bengals. I remember the scene because I kept thinking that SF and StL really needed to watch it over and over again. Just keep it simple. Neither SJax nor Gore will EVER get stopped four downs in a row from the 2 yard line. It's insane that they keep putting these situations in the hands of their young QBs.

That's nothin. Ask Carolina. They were lucky enough to throw 3 passes from inside the 5 yard line on week 1 with DeAngelo Williams AND James Stewart on the sidelines. Pass #3 was intercepted. Some of these guys are mental midgets.

Eagles Giants game.

3rd and 1, Morningweg had Vick line up in the SHOTGUN. Firstly, why are going to pass? Secondly, why are you going to tip your hand by going to the shotgun with no RB's?

I don't know. Thats why.

I agree, sometimes, these guys outsmart themselves.

These guys need to roll with the play that is the most effective regardless of what the other team is expecting.

If it were me calling the play, I would have given it to Jackson three times in a row. First attempt would be right up the gut. Second would be a toss and let him get out wide. Third would be right up the gut.

Maybe the other team figures its too obvious and outthinks themselves.

It's easy to just say give it to your RB 3 times in a row & try to score, but it's not that easy. Sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn't.

I actually like the play that was intercepted. It typically works well near the GL. It was a "shovel" pass where the intended receiver got hung up & Bradford regrettably pitched it to where he should've been. A big mistake, but remember, Bradford had been on quite a roll without an INT.

Like it or not, Bradford is going to carry this team in the future. They'll eventually change to a "Peyton Manning"-type offense & throw the ball a bunch. Bradford is a once in a generation-type QB.

I'm not a Rams fan, but you guys have a bright, bright future. I like the HC & your D is up & coming. The Rams will be a pretty darned good team as soon as 2011, IMO.

I agree there's no way of knowing if it will work but you sure won't know at all if you don't even try. And it's not like Jackson's a bum. He's a damn good RB. I can't think of a single good reason for him not to get at least one rushing attempt from the 2.

In week 1, instead of taking a knee with 4 seconds left in the first half and the ball at their own 36, Dallas' OC calls for a swing pass. The ball is fumbled and the Redskins run it in for a touchdown to take a 10-0 lead at the half. They went on to win the game 13-7.

Later on he gets promoted to Head Coach. Maybe Pat Shurmur can be the next Coach of the Rams.

They'll never expect us to throw from the shotgun!! They'll expect us to think that we'll get them to think that we're going to pass because its shotgun so they'll think that thats what we want them to think so they'll think its a run because who thinks throwing a pass for 1 yard is smart when convential thinking is to run the ball for 1 yard but thats when we get them thinking the wrong way cause while they're thinking run despite it obviously being thought of as pass, we will think to pass it. They'll never expect it!!!

I think it's a little different with Vick, since he's a threat to run or pass out of all formations.
