THE ROYALS WIN THE WORLD SERIES! (1 Viewer)

Well played series by KC. Took advantage of every opportunity. I thought the mets pitching would make it jnteresting but three blown late inning leads is never a good thing.

This. Such a weird, frustrating series. Could just as easily have been 4-1 the other way. The 4-1 split and game scores do not tell the story of how close it was.

Frustrating would be a good word.

Congrats.

They have no superstars on that team but they all play like one.

Well deserved and one of the best teams in recent memory.

This team could have easily been back to back champs.

Been a fan since George Brett was on the team and have suffered for 30 years to finally witness another title after decades of suck. And by suck I mean suck a golf ball through a garden hose type of suck.

Unreal how that team was never out of a game, awesome run!!

I'm still in shock.

I've had tickets for 15 years and saw a LOT of terrible baseball until last year.

Was crushed leaving game 7 last year.. thought i'd missed the chance.

I underestimated these guys. I'd written them off again during game 4 vs. Houston.

It wouldn't surprise me if they make the playoffs again next year with this core.

After the game ended, so many fireworks were shot off across the city, the National Weather Service radar looked like a flash storm had broken out in KC.

Thousands lined up at sporting goods stores after the game to buy World Series Champions swag.

Parade Tuesday. Starts at P&L District, finishes with victory rally in front of Union Station.

Great fun seeing so many great fans either experience a World Series title for the first time, or the lifers who stuck with the team for the 30 years between titles.

Yeah, a great night. I was 16 when they won it in '85. Now I get to take my kids to the parade tomorrow. Woke them up in the 12th inning so they could see the end of the game. A great moment. :headbang:

Wait...I'm confused here. Is this shtick or is the "I hate playoffs because the two best teams don't play each other" shtick

I woke my kids up to show them and teach them life is filled with disappointment and to not do stupid things like get your hopes and dreams up.

THE ROYALS WIN THE UNITED STATES/CANADA WORLD SERIES!
Fixed
Repaired
If it was in fact a true "World" Series, shouldn't they have teams from other countries, you know like the WBC had?
Some of you people care about some stupid ####.
Players are from all over the World.
Not the teams.
Perhaps this will help.... The Superbowl isn't really "Super".

Been like that for years.

I know it's the wrong forum, but wouldn't the Mets have been better off holding the guy on 3rd in the ninth and just letting the other guy go to first?

Well in hindsight yeah but you can't give away an out. Wright looked the runner back, Hosmer didn't look like he had a large lead and scored more because of a poor throw by Duda. The Mets did the right thing but simply didn't execute.

Oh, I still think the baseball playoffs are extremely poorly constructed, as is the entire league and schedule. Should be 150 game season, 5 game series with each team in the majors, all playing under one rule set, no divisions or conferences (leagues), best 4 teams make the playoffs by record and play 13 game series.

But... in lieu of all that which will never happen despite how good of an idea it is.... the team with the best record in the superior league won the title..

If the Royals had won last season... you could say.. "fluke, bad beat, etc." and you would've been right.

But this team basically led the AL from wire to wire... and whilst they certainly got their share of good fortune in the post-season... they won the games and defeated the opponents on the other side of the field.

No fluke.. no bad beat... best team under the currently flawed setup that is MLB

I thought you said you were working on this?

Congrats Royals. Once again the AL displays it's superiority :D
Superiority? Looking at the last 10 years the NL has won 6 and the AL 4.
Caught the wrong fish... i was expecting posty to be all over this.
Ha! Fair enough. I wasn't aware of any history that would indicated a baited rig. Ya got me.

P.S. Not that I care because it's all innocent but I never really understood the fun in baiting people.

Very happy for them. In the mess that is MLB, small market teams acting as farm teams for the big market ones, this win is a great thing.

Group of KU students celebrated the win by breaking into Memorial Stadium, tearing down one of the goal posts, and throwing the pieces in Potter Lake. :lmao:
