The Saints ... are coming.... (1 Viewer)

Team Legacy

Watch the video and remember how it felt when they kicked the Falcons A** ....

With what they're accomplishing, I'm surprised more aren't talking about Super Bowl.

The Bears are OBVIOUSLY beatable...

Bet your futures and thank me later.

I don't think most people realize how awesome of a story it is that this team was 3-13 last year, playing in a city that has never won anything, and was absolutely RAVAGED last year. And now they have a legit SB chance.

Now that the Bucs are dead, I'd like to see them do well this year. Fantastic story. I hope they make the Super Bowl.

I want to pull for the Saints, I really do....but in God's name, who thought it was a good idea to have black pants with black jerseys? :D

I think the Saints have a very decent chance to win the NFC Championship. But I wouldn't put down much on them (or any NFC team) to win the Super Bowl.

The Saints' AFC record is what it is, but let's not forget what actually happened in those games.Week 8 vs. Baltimore - This was the first game Billick took over playing calling duties and the Ravens scored quickly after a Saints fumble. On the next possession Bush threw a terrible pass that got picked off in the endzone and the Ravens drove down the field for another score. 6 minutes later Brees threw a horrible pick-6 to put the Ravens up 21-0. By then the game was out of reach and Brees tossed another pick-6 in the 3rd quarter. 5 turnovers for New Orleans that day. Final 35-22.Week 10 at Pittsburgh - After giving up a big play and a turnover in the games opening minutes, the Saints fell behind 14-0. They came back to take the lead 17-14, then 24-17 at halftime. Midway through the 3rd, Bush fumbled to set up 38-yard bomb from Roeth to Wilson and a 24-24 tie game. Carney missed a 32 yard field goal and Parker jetted 72 yards into Saints territory to set up another score. 5 minutes later FWP did it again for 76 yards to put the Steelers up 38-24 with 10 minutes to go. Saints outgained Pitt 517 to 467, 29 first downs to 19, but turned the ball over 3 times. Final 38-31.Week 11 vs. Cincinnati - The Saints tied it up at 10 at the beginning of the fourth quarter but on the next drive Palmer hit CJ for a 60-yard bomb on blown coverage. Next possession Palmer hit CJ again for a 48-yard gain down to the Saints 4 to set up an easy score. One minute later Brees tossed a pick 6 to give the Bengals a 31-10 lead. On the day the Saints outgained the Bengals 595 yards to 385, 29 first downs to 15, but turned the ball over 4 times. Final 31-16.So, giving up big plays and committing turnovers absolutely killed New Orleans during that 4 week stretch. They've since comeback to embarrass the Falcons in Atlanta (remember Vick flipping the bird?), hold the NFL's leading rusher Frank Gore to just 40 yards while trouncing the 49ers, and destroy Tony Romo and the Cowboys in big D. The team had a cold streak but they're hot at the right time. A win this week will just about lock up the 2nd seed and you can bet they won't take their game next week in New Jersey lightly after the BS that happened last year. IMO, Chicago better hope they play anyone but the Saints in the NFC championship.

Very intelligent response. Do you not recall Steve Smith running all over Soldier Field last year? What happens when you play a team with more than one offensive weapon?

:sadbanana: Nice breakdown of the AFC losses, too ... all were winnable games, not mismatches.

To be honest, sitting in the Dome that day, the Baltimore game felt like a mismatch. But this is a different team now -- in the long run that butt-kicking was probably good for them.

I'm sure it felt that way, but the Saints beat themselves with Bush's pick and Drew's two pick sixes. They still put up 403 yards on that Baltimore defense, while other juggernauts like SD and Cinci (2 games) only put up 284, 275, and 294, respectively. The only other time the Ravens gave up 400 yards was a home loss to Carolina in a game in which the turnover battle was even, not 5-1 like the Saints game.I do agree though; it was probably a good thing to get those mistakes out of the way.

Saints had only only 35 yards on 14 carries vs. Baltimore. They were losing 35-7 midway through the third quarter.

Well when you're down 21-0, you kinda stop running the ball. Look, no doubt it was a bad game, but 5 turnovers will get you killed by any team. Those pick sixes were both for 12 yards. 12 yards. You just can't win when you do that.

Very true. Also, the Ravens benefitted from a lot of tip-drill type stuff. Not saying their win was in any way illegitimate ... but apart from the blunders, the teams were playing close. I know, I know ... if my aunt had junk, she'd be my uncle. But still.

It is one victory and now they are the new IT team. There is a ton of football left to be played. Let's see who the IT team is going into the playoffs before all the Saints are the best stuff means anything. Remember it was Dallas, is the best before last week and countless others before that. The Saints are good, but they are not any better then the other teams that will make the playoffs in the NFC. They played the perfect game last week congrates to them they desreve it but that week 14 game did not get them anywhere but to 9-NINE wins for the season.

Calm down and act like you have been there, o yeah it is your first.

Interesting...No one said the Saints are the best, we're merely discussing their season and what it could mean come playoff time. They've won all the games they should, beat solid Philly and Dallas teams, and only got manhandled once by a very good Ravens team.

I hardly think the "anointing oil" has been brought out for the Saints. On the contrary, most NFC talk this week has revolved around Grossman's performance on Monday, the Eagles resurgence with Garcia, and Seattle's collapse.

Turnovers don't always mean that the team beat themselves. A lot of the times, it's just good, deceptive or pressuring defense that causes it, making it a great defensive play instead of a bad offensive play.Hell, if turnovers can all be attributed to just that team beating themselves, you could make an arguement that Pittsburgh is the best team in the entire league if they were smarter with the football.

Fair enough I just hope Brees blows up the next two weeks for the fantasy playoffs. I like the Saints alot I hope they go far but I think their defense will be exploited in the playoffs the only thing that could save them is if their offense continues to score early and often. Good luck to them

True, but you should watch the tape of that game. The Bush pick was horrendous to say the least and one (if not both, can't recall) of the Brees pick sixes went right to the defender. Maybe it's homer goggles, but I just haven't seen them play like those "same ol' Saints" this year for an entire game. Just some plays here and there like the Julius Jones run on Sunday night.

Agreed. The Ravens D were obviously playing heads-up and aggressively. However, there were come catchable balls that got tipped into INTs. Bush's INT was a ball Colston lost in the lights (he doesn't even jump for it). A few plays like that.

I am hoping the Saints roll continues. Drew Brees has carried my team to the point where we are now. I have also been using a revolving door at the D/ST position, relying heavily upon the waiver wire for good matchups. I am rolling the dice with the Saints D/ST this weekend thinking that they can force some turnovers from Campbell, and Bush can break a punt return....basically just riding there coattails.

Saints make no excuses, the one win came against a lowly Browns team, but all that #### means n0thing now. All they worrying about now is the Eagles. Enough already. YEAHHHHHHHHHHHH

I can see Reggie Bush pulling a Steve Smith like performance this weekend. That was the one thing that the Seahawks lacked, an electrifying playmaker to exploit the Bears weaknesses.

Saints.

seriously? Imo its been the most talked about story all year, and if they go to the SB it will be THE main storyline.

If he does, it's in the passing game. His strength is turning that corner, and the Bears D is way too fast on the edges for him to do that this week. Now, I'd absolutely love to see him streaking down the middle of the field with Urlacher trying to cover him like he does a TE or most RBs. Brees drops the ball over Urlacher's hands, and Bush is off to the races. I realize Urlacher's one of the best cover LBs in the league, but no LB can cover Reggie Bush consistently in my opinion - at least not with Brees chucking the rock.
